Tuc Tuc's are great. Been on them both in Brighton as in India.

The Brighton ones were really great, because they were themed (like this union Jack one, but there was also a strawberry one etc).They somehow fitted into the whole Brighton atmosphere!

Sad to see them go!

I can't believe they didn't get more support from Brighton Council. The traffic in Brighton is a nightmare.

Tuc tuc's are small and could have been a good solution to help with public transport, but the council restricted them so much that they couldn't do business.

I think there are one or two escaped lunatics on our council. They've dug up all the roads, made the pavements bigger and the roads smaller but they didn't like the tuc tuc's.

Thats right. the council only licenced them as a bus, with a route. Those things were a PSV. That is not how a tuc tuc works, Brighton Counsil shooting itself in the foot again. You should see the awful mess they have made of the traffic system in Brighton now, people are put off comming to Brighton every day, It is worse than London sometimes.

the taxi drivers got jealous and started complaining to the council because the tuc tucs were alot cheaper then taxis or something along those lines it annoys me becuase i live near brighton and i never got the time to ride one

Yes I think there was a lot of politics going on about them at the time.

Taxi drivers have a lot of overheads which is unfair and makes it hard for them to be really competitive.

Still I think some sort of compromise could have been reached.

Well, you see, they have four forward gears on the left-hand bar if I'm not mistaken and if you approach a steep hill, you can either apply more power or change to a lower gear, or both if necessary. In much the same way as you might a car or other vehicle. I hope this answers your question on hills. :)

the trouble with the buses in brighton are they r always packed with fucking students but not sundays coz there all in bed still sleeping of the booze thats where there 15000£ student loans go on cars and booze and takeaway fucking looses.

I have a feeling they will be back, especially since the crappy bus service SUCKS and the counsil is making all the roads narrower.
