Good editing. I have this camera but it's hard to show people the real definition of the recording because YouTube really compresses the video. What was the bitrate on the final upload render? Over or under 6mbps? What software for editing? If at all possible, could you give the video export settings. Thanks in advance.
@matrixate Thanks for watching. You can also upload your videos on vimeo, they heve full HD upload. I use final cut and for the web i convert files with mpeg streamclip. At the moment I don't know the bitrate, but I export 1280x720p mpeg4, h.264 compressor, 100% quality, de-interlaced. Hope that helps :)
@trainguyONR Well, it turns out that i got the 7d instead. I sold my old slr and used my camcorder fund to pay for the upgrade. The 7d is amazing. Not only is it an amazing still camera, but for many prepared settings it blows any of these cameras out of the water with its video.
Thanks. For this video I didn't use anything besides the camera and $15 photo tripod. Currently I'm shooting a documentary with this camera and letus adapter in the front. The picture is beautiful, but it needs a lot of light and an external monitor would be a good thing to have, as the focus is crucial.
Nice vid! What software did you use to edit this vid?I have the same camera with ImageMixer 3,but I find a bit comlicated to use.I'm not really a professional, I have just started using this camera.
@Kistaki79 I've never used Image Mixer before so I don't know how complicated it is. I'm using Final Cut on a Mac. On a PC I used to use Avid but that's another pro application. Thanks for watching and good have fun with your new camera
oh and also, I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio 7 platinum and the max res. I can get from it is 1440 x 1080 but from what I read, I guess any device that plays it will play it in 1920 x 1440?
Sorry, I can only talk about what I know. Don't know the other cameras nor I never edited on Vegas. You might just have to do the research. Good luck and Merry Christmas :)
hey so, I think I might buy this camera for Christmas. Walmart has it for $899 with no internal Hard Drive, which is okay, because I don't mind using SD cards... How is it? Do you think I should get the hf20 for a lot less? Is the quality good?
I think it's a great HD camera for this size and price. I just bought Letus 35mm lens adapter and in 5 days I'm going to HK and Philippines to shoot a documentary with this gear. The only two things I'm not fully happy with are massive files 1h=60GB of Pro Res422 footage, which means a suitcase of HDDs. The second thing is real time transferring to FCP as the files are converted during transfer process.
Overall it's a great camera, at the moment probably the best one in this price range.
oh, nice... but for a cheaper alternative, would you say the HF200 would be good? So If I use a 16GB SDHC, that means I only get like 20 mins of pro res?
@Narutotjuhh haha yeah dude i bought the HF S10 and I am very pleased... actually, check out my channel for some videos shot with it... I've loved this camera and I found it has the best quality I've seen from a consumer camera.... I was only a little disappointed when I found out the dslr (Rebel and higher) shoot in full 1080p... but o well, Im happy with what I've got...
Great stuff indeed, a vey nice video. Can you tell me how you got the stop motion effect with the speeded boats. Is this a feature of you Mac video edeting software or setting on the camera? Thanks
Hey MightyMorpheus, I just send you a message to answer your question, but I'll write a note here as well, for others with the same question. The footage was shot in 25 fps progressive mode and sped up 10 (or more) times in FCP. This option should be available on all professional video editing software. In case of FCP it's called time remapping, in Vegas, I believe it's the velocity envelope.
Thanks, It's a great camera to work with, I only wish the lens was bigger to allow more light in. Hoping that the Red Scarlet will come soon so we can use it as a primary camera.
what program did you use to edit it with???
and do you know a High Quality editing program???
Good vid BTW

Was this done with just the cam and no adapter? What setting? 60i or 24p? Thanks in advance
MISTERRICHEART 1 year ago
@MISTERRICHEART This was shot without any adapters, just the camera on 25fps as it's Pal system 'progressive' mode. And later little coloring in fcp

I think HV-40 has a better picture than this camera. But your video is great!

hey man I got this camera and I wanted to know what attachable lens you suggest??

Hi Incredible Footage. I really learned what this camera can do through you.
Did you use the Letus Adapter with this at all or did you just shoot natively as is?

Can you do external monitoring throught the HDMI port?
GalacticLove1 2 years ago
Yes you can. I've tried it and it works but i don't have one at the moment

it looks like the ratio is either 2:39:1 or 2:40:1. Does this camcorder do that, or did you crop the original 1:85:1? NIce quality by the way.

the image was cropped in post

@crawfordsjamie the hf200 is good, but not nearly as good as this one, especially in low light, the hf200 is quite mediocre

Yeah, Sorry 1920x1080 :) typo

With AVCHD, can you record in 1920x1080, or does it record in 1440x1080 and then upscale to 1920x1080?
