  • What you use to clean the parts before rebuilding ???

  • hey man ty 4 the video i been wondering about rebuilding a nitro engine i sure wouldnt wanna buy an aftermarket engine thats claims the same power as a 3.3 trx and the aftermarket turn out 2 b half the power. and my the lord bless u man ty very much

  • hey i bought a traxxas t maxx from a guy and i could never get it to start so i saw this video and i took it appart and it looks like the whole inside is rusted is there anything i can do or is it shot? thanx for your time!

  • did you find the screw? haha

  • wht is the name of the piece that goes on the end of the crank shaft that has the gear? pleeease i need a new one

  • @smarttpan it's called a clutch bell.

  • will you sell the engine

  • thnx man that was very helpfull video

  • i just got a t-maxx 2.5 how to rebuild engina

  • I NEED TO KNOW THE ANSWER FOR THIS QUESTION ASAP. how do I tell if the piston sleeve or the piston has gone bad. ASA

P.S I NEED THE ANSWER BY TOMROW

  • ya dont use any assembly lube on any of the parts when you put it back together?

  • When you rebuild this do you have to break the engine in again like your supposed to do when you first buy it new?

  • @minijayne211 No because the piston and sleeve have already formed around eachother. Just take it easy for 3/4 of a tank or so.

  • I tried to watch but your voice made me want to cut my balls off!!! Your fucking annoying

  • This is very helpful. Because I'm new to Nitro Motors, and I'm going to attempt at rebuilding used ones. 5/5 - Great video!

  • i got an sts30 got a new piston and sleave, when i try to turne it over it jam's at the top is this normal for new one's or is there some thing wrong?

  • hi buddy i need help with my engine i took apart for a rebuild its a rossi .12 turbo engine the piston has a curved edge on the bottom which way shoiud that curved edge face ?

  • @YOYOMAN786 That should face the front of the engine or should face the clutch basically.

  • hay i got this t-maxx off craigs list and it ran well for a bout 20 min then it burnt up two of my glo plugs so i did some research and tryed all the tuning tips i could find and any way long story short i pulled the mooter down after watching ur vid and found that my piston was very ruff and marred badly on the side of the top and side of the piston so im rebuilding it thanks for the vid it was very helpful and made it seam not so bad to do . thanks again .

  • hey i have a chip on the block where the piston and sleeve go.i was told that it didnt have enough compreshin and i was just wondering if i have to buy a new motor?

  • hey i have a force .26 team losi stock engine on my buggy and i cant seem to get it started anymore but when i was able to get it started it just didnt sound right and i dont know how to tune it or anything like that so i tore it apart and cleaned it but that didnt seem to help and i dont want to buy a new engine please help if you need more info. just ask thanks and help

    -sean

  • @darrengerdude96 I recommend resetting the engine back to it's original needle settings. Often engines are over tampered with which causes them to completely loose they're tune ;)

  • next time try to keep your hands under the camera

  • Great Vid, helped me alot:)

  • my piston sleeve will NOT go in even half as easy as yours did. i just ordered a new connecting rod(should be here soon) and i have no clue on how to get the sleeve back in. its been out for over a year. so... :D

  • @nathttman You most likely had the fuel sit to long in the engine causing it to go to a paste, make sure your after running the engine and i recommend tearing the engine apart and soaking it in nitro to clean the parts. I have videos on my channel of how to do this.

  • @MultiMusicianman Yes you can try getting a new glow igniter but also try turning up your idle screw that will definitely help.

  • @nitromad48 Ok by the way ihave trired all those necessary steps too. I have adjusted the idle screw a lot as well.

and this is OS 18 tm motor on a traxxas truck body

  • thanks great vids bro!

  • Hey so Im rebuilding a nitro star 25 for a savage. Got a new sleeve, piston, and a ROD(not sure if thats the name, but it holds the piston). And well i was wondering if you get a new piston and sleeve, if the piston gets stuck about halfway to the top of the sleeve. Like i put some WD40 but it wont slide. Seems like the sleeve becomes CONE shaped to the top( gets tighter the higher you go). So yeah if you got any pointers itd help. Thanks

    -Kevin

  • @mauivato Yeah that's perfectly normal, just means it has alot of pinch, it will wear itself in as time goes on.

  • When dealing with the one way bearing, is there any lubrication that has to be done to the bearing, or should it just be cleaned ?

Just some constructive critisinsm . you sould make sure that you you are are able to see everything in the cam that you are talking about. becase some of it yo uexplpained and couldnot see what you were describing at times. and I'm still a rookie to this nitro stuff. Thanks.

  • @MultiMusicianman Just one drop of oil yeah, that's it.

And yeah I had a bit of a problem with the cam view in this vid. Sorry about that.

  • @nitromad48 Ok thanks. I put it back together right then. I;m going to try and start it soon. by the way I am running a T-Maxx Truck, Was with a 2.5engine that you show, but I have replaced it with a OS .18tm engine. I like it a lot.

  • @MultiMusicianman

Hmmm... I was always told to let it soak in "DENATURED ALCOHOL"... then use a lil WD-40

  • gd vid m8 , cheerz :)

  • my Nitro Engine won't start should i rebuild it. it hasn't been run in a year.

  • @74monstermash Yeah it's most likely just gummed up with fuel...

  • TIP mate always and I MEAN ALWAYS PUT lead lock on the screws when inserting the back plate PERIOD

  • My engine is running really sluggish. I think its cause i left fuel sitting in it for a long time. Could tearing the motor down and cleaning then rebuilding help this?

  • Yes cleaning the engine will definitely help...;)

    I subed to you ;)

  • @72cummins and if you doing this, i think you've to break-in like a new engine.

  • dont u have to put some kind of engine sealant when you reassemble your engine?

  • Some engines you do just this one was already sealed.

  • when you take the crank out do you have to seal or is the bearing sealing it?

  • The bearing seals it...

  • could i use a 16 vertex pistion rod , in a 18 vertex engine

  • I've never opened one of those engines up before but I'm sure they're probably different.

  • hello nitromad48 i just bought the hpi 3 evo+ and idk how to tune the motor i read the maual but is confusing i dont understand it can you help me out thx?

  • Sure man I'll make a vid for you this afternoon or tonight... ;)

  • cool thanks a lot man

  • Sorry about the wait I've been real busy, I'll make the vid tonight...sorry for the delay..

  • its ok man im in no rush whenever you can im alright with it.

  • you called the cooling head a header and the header a manifold ... the header is a manifold but the cooling head isnt a header lol is there much differince between the trx 2.5r and the regular 2.5

  • Ya I know I don't think I've ever done that before ecept for this video! lol it's soo easy to call things what they aren't. lol

  • haha ya

  • you also forgot that the grooves in the top of the backplate must face up when you reinstall it. (its not a must but in some engines the tolerances are so tight, then it is a must

  • Oh ya I did forget to comment on the grooves...lol I hate when I know it but I forget to say it in the vid...lol

  • yeah if you install the piston backwards it will start and run great but it would never idle

  • yep agreed...

  • in theory it shouldnt start because there's no entrance of fuel to the combustion chamber right??

  • Correct...

  • in theory, but at high engine speeds it will run fine.

  • yeah the cut in the piston always aims towards the side of the carburator, lol i learned that the hard way with my original 2.5 s-maxx motor when i decided to take it apart after my 10th tank of fuel through it plus it was my 1st time to ever drive a nitro rc truck lol!!!

  • LOL ya it's a really easy mistake to make that's for sure!
