I had the pleasure of meeting Rick when he gave a concert in the Buffalo, New York area in 1969. He had long hair. I asked him he he grew it because of other performers having their hair long or because he wanted to. He told me that he wanted to. Unfortunately he wasn't accepted at Madison Square Garden but it was the inspiration for his last really big hit, Garden Party. The one thing I can say about Rick is just how nice he was. You think he just acted that way on TV. He was so nice.
