  • @jeovanny an kernel is what governs ur CPU, so the kernel must be modified so it can go higher than stock. If ur on a custom rom the kernel that came with it is most likely overclockable.

  • Why do I have to flash a kernel to overclock? What is a kernel? I remember overclocking once on a samsung galaxy s continuum just by being rooted using antutu or one of those apps I forget. PLease help me understand.

  • @coffeeandsugar20 yeah bamf soab

  • Is there a Sense 3.5 ROM?

  • Your tutorials are really informative and helpful. Thanks man

  • Hey nat3 quick question.

How can i check what radio i am on And also i flashed the imoseyan kernel and set to 1.92 mode and phone froze automaatically i also flashed liquid thunderbread and set to 2.01ghz and phone froze but phone is stanbble for anything under 1.8ghz is there a way i can allow my phone to do 2ghz stably?

  • @xxaimbkstarxx123 to check radio, menu, settings, about phone, baseband version

    no its unstable past 1.8

  • @nat3mil Thanks and this rom does 1.88ghz can i run that without any freezing up? and are we cool now?

  • @xxaimbkstarxx123 each phone's cpu will have different limits so urs might freeze, might not

  • do you have the set cpu max and min I should be running on my thunder bolt and how hot is to hot?AS YOU CAN TELL JUST LEARNING

  • @nybadboy111 the safest settings are min at the lowest, max at 1024. As for heat, it shouldn't be very hot in hand. I can't give u a precise number.

  • @nat3mil thanks.

  • @nat3mil. I followed the directions :( also for radios, do you have to reinstall it with each new Tom?

  • @oldtimehobo nope

  • how come when i flash dreamkernel it loops the bootloader? (cm7.1.1)

  • @oldtimehobo make sure your flashing the aosp kernel not the sense kernel. also the directions for that kernel say to flash in recovery not from rom manager as i show in the vid

  • @nat3mil see nate he gets problems like me.

Btw its me your number 1 fan

  • Thanks for all the great videos!

Have you ever seen an error while using moseyon Lean Froyo Kernel, when I run speedtweak.sh I get " [: not found"

Root Check verifies root and BusBox successfully, and SetCPU is now able to overclock but I can't access the tweak script.

  • @XanthReturns did you do the su bit first?

  • @nat3mil Yeah, that goes well and I get the "#" symbol like I should. Typing in busybox brings up the whole list of defined functions so that seems to be working also. I tried both the Lean and Special Edition versions with the same result. Everything else seems to be working great though, no issues with the update process.

  • also, if i flash a new kernel will I still get gingerbread like normal? or will it block it like a rom does

  • @justinyoface911 if you mean from Verizon.... If your rooted you never take updates from Verizon, you can brick your phone. You need to manually flash a rooted version of the update.

As for overclocking, you'll know if you can overclock a kernel when a get an app like setcpu

  • @nat3mil no u dont, when ive ever done it i just lose root

  • @justinyoface911 alright good luck ;)

  • @nat3mil is the thunderbolt different with that stuff or something? As long as I keep my kernel the same and just have root will I still get bricked? Or just lose root access

  • @justinyoface911 depends how you rooted. if you used revolutionary you might be alright because that bootloader will not allow itself to be overwritten, whereas the original root method, or a one click, will allow the bootloader to be overwritten resulting in a bad situation.

however if you used revolutionary, and take an update, you will probably just loose root and your custom recovery.

having said that, I personally still wouldnt do it

  • @nat3mil ya I used revolutionary, so I'm ok to do it then?

  • @justinyoface911 i dont know for sure.

  • i have kernal 2.6.32.21, can i just overclock from there?

  • If I've flashed a rom via rom manager, why would I need to install a kernel?doesn't my rom come with a special kernel already?

I'm using a gingerbread stock rom now, but I would like to add a sense 3.0 lockscreen;could adding a kernal add those features while keeping my rom the same?

  • @polysi4 yes ur rom comes with a kernel but sometimes people want to customize their even further. Adding a kernel will not change the rom at all. The kernel just controlls the CPU and batterlife and stuff

If u want that stuff u should flash was bamf 3

  • do u have a kernal for das bamf RC4.9 a normal 1. and thanx :)

  • @yousifabro321 imoseyon's gingerbread lean kernel work really well, if you need a link you can go on my blog, or message me and ill send it to you

  • @nat3mil thanx. i just flashed the stock kernal. is the lean kernal better so i flash that or is this fine and which one is closer to the original 1. thanx

  • @yousifabro321 the lean kernels better for battery life and performance depending on how you set it up

  • @nat3mil ok im using lean kernal now and its still taking way too long to charge i set it on number 1 for normal. any tips on how to fix that and make it charge faster.

  • @yousifabro321 thats an issue with the rom. U can reboot and it should charge normal

  • i've messed with setcpu before installing leankernel. if i just stop going into setcpu, will it stop working? how do i revert back to the normal min/max, i guess i'm saying.

  • @brianbernens the speedtweak script from the lean kernel will override the values that you set in set cpu

  • I'm fairly certain its the sense. It says sense in the file name. Can you include a link perhaps?

  • @jmorga75 sent you message

  • Imoseyon's kernel won't play nice with my phone. I've run the bamf 2.1 remix and and then the sense 3.0 and now the rc4 and when i flash the imoseyon kernel to the phone it can't get past just after the first white HTC kernel. i have to go back to ADB and command it to go to recovery, where i have to install a different kernel. any suggestions on good kernels to use?

  • @jmorga75 you sure your flashing imoseyons gb sense kernel and not froyo?

  • I have to say...great videos. I just received a thunderbolt and plan on rooting, and because of your visa...I feel comfy doing it. Question...I was only interested in sense 3.0, and wifi tether. What would you recommend regarding rom and kernal? Noob question I know. And thank you!

  • @barkenny thank you :)

    I would recommend...

    rom: das bamf 3.0 rc3

    radio: mr2

    kernel imoseyon lean gb kernel

  • @barkenny links can be found on my blog too btw

  • how do i download the theme>?

  • @drumzown34 ill send you message

  • You Rock! Your videos are so clear and you don't leave anything out! Thanks for all of your help. I am running Das BAMF Remix 1.8, MR1 Radio and Imoseyon's eankernel set to battery saver. They all play together perfectly. Thanks again.

  • hey man, thanks for the vid...what theme are you running?

  • @baxster80 revolution. link is on my blog

  • what keyboard are you using ?

  • @Hislakerluver flexT9. Got it for free for the free app of the day on Amazon app store

  • does Imoseyon's Sense leankernel work on das bamf

  • @smoke0605 yup

  • @smoke0605 wait if its bamf. 2.0 no. U need his lean gb kernel

  • U are the best bro i rooted my thunderbolt with ur help

  • Your videos are really helpful and informative. i rooted my tb following your videos and the xda guide, and everything worked perfectly. Thanks for making them!
