They do drive the cars themselves... Just because they use combined footage of all of them for the best shots for the show does not mean it's a "trick" or they don't drive it themselves and slide it around. Hell, Clarkson slides the thing around a corner WHILE the camera is on his face.

@xristo702 This is possible because in this car you sit very low and close to the ground. But you're right, looking at the body design from the outside you wouldn't know... pure engineering genius from the Germans I must admit.

@TheCriticEye You might be right, but I'm sure they do multiple takes with the car, possibly over a couple days, because I doubt they can get enough good slides in just one day of shooting to make a good clip.
