  • I don't see how gambling is wrong.

  • @AmongDancingZombies It says something in the draconian bible something about gambling being wrong or something. Yeah, 'cause gambling is wrong but committing multiple acts of genocide is A-OTAY! haha

  • @AmongDancingZombies Cause....... IT JUST IS OK!? ACCEPT IT!!!!!!

  • I can't quite tell...was that perry or bush?

  • yay for the stupid tax

  • well this is kinda awakward spot for me, since This is how i make my living, i play poker online for a living and seeing this news kinda makes me excited, new players sitting down at the live tables will eventually venture online, and i'll be waiting haha i want a gambling poker boom. would be good buisness for me and the poker playign community

  • @TheGonzaPoker capitalize on that ish for real yo

  • lol did you hear people just straight up laugh at bush

  • A tax on stupidity.

  • the commerce casino, is in LA and it has one of the biggest poker rooms in the usa, and i do believe its a nice casino from what i hear. never been there though

  • In Finland we have RAY, a public non-profit company that has a monopoly on all casinos and slot-machines. The profits go straight to charity (including gambling addiction treatment). It's an interesting idea at least, I think. Not sure how well it actually works since I don't really know much about the subject.

  • Who's coming up with these horrible ideas? Kramer would do a better job as America's idea guy.

  • Cenk play poker in Connecticut you will have a much better time!

  • How much did wall street gamble?

  • Yeah...

  • Remember Back To The Future 2, when Beef becomes the law by taking hold of the power through gambling??? Anyone?

  • OMG I hate America more and more with each passing day... I'm actually contemplating like selling my self to some rich person in a foriegn country as like a mail order house boy cuz the way this is going it'll be a lot more fulfilling then struggling to survive out here...

  • heh... dont just take money from tax payers through government means. take through gambling encouragement. good work american government.

  • if people want to gamble away their life... let them

  • Don't have to feel as bad about loosing at the slots anymore. Gamblers are shouldering the debt! Yay!

  • Ana is so freaking hot

  • George Bush was the greatest comedian ever to become president.

  • But that was the lure of gambling. Big winning was extremely rare--almost impossible.

But occasionally a player wins small amounts--often enough and large enough to keep the average gambler hooked. Hooked, wanting and waiting for the great win that would never come.

  • anyone else predicting tax cuts for casinos?

  • There's a Casino in Hawaiian Gardens, which is in LA County.

  • I love how the right loves to complain about too much government, but it loves to try to legislate morality. Just legalize everything, and that would really create a true "free market".

  • my only problem is the timing, in the middle of a recession is not the best time to introduce gambling, people are desperate for money.

  • Ready for the libertarian objection?... Governments shouldn't build casinos on taxes. Done.

  • Careful... we Brits tried this in 2005. Now some highstreets have two of the same chain bookies opposite each other!

  • Just got home from Vegas, fkers didn't get my cash!

  • i live in the UK (London).. we have casinos and the sports betting industry is worth billions.. i don't understand what the problem is in america- they even managed to shut down online gambling and casinos in the states.. america needs to shut down the black market and capitalize on it.. marijuana, gambling, prostitution- hell, legalize it (at least on a state level), tax it, fire some police officers and shrink privatized prisons

  • A tax on casinos is a tax on idiots. If someone is stupid enough to gamble away all their money in casino. Whatever it's their money it's their call.

  • @Shonenut213 True but their kids often suffer.

  • @ceejaywt Good point. I forgot about the kids.

  • all while they crack down on internet gambling...

  • Anyone else see the stupidity of a government to transfer their dept onto their tax-payers?

    Short-term: WIN.

    Long-term: FAIL.

  • back before the indians were the owners of casino's, gambeling clubs were private clubs. its an excellent idea.

  • Okay so small-scalle casino activities, where people gamble away all their earnings is going to save what was caused by national-scale casino activities, where banks gambled away the customers' earnings?

    .

    Desperate are we now, Americans.

  • Worked in a bar in Belgium. Not a casino a bar. But like all Belgian bars they have "bingo machines" a type of slot machine where you can bet about 9 bucks a shot And win max 800 in one go. I saw how that became the most sick addiction for working people. Guy would go in promising to bet total 30 bucks and blow his entire paycheck in 1 hour

  • LOL @ the U.S.A!

  • When I grew up the only place to gamble was at the Catholic church basement.

  • "That's an old school morality, gambling is wrong, we've forgotten that."

No we've moved on from that load of bullshit, like we should move on from religion and drugs being illegal.

  • @CelphProclaimed Agreed. I lived in Vegas for a good five years, and only left due to there not being any more work available to me at the time. During my time there, I felt more at home than any place in the country. The people who live there, discounting the small percentage of predators, are very good. Gambling doesn't corrupt people; people corrupt themselves and each other....

  • @CelphProclaimed The problem with gambling seems to be that there are certain people who seem to be prone to these things and can't handle them, same as with alcohol and such, some people seem less prone to such addiction than others. That religions did include rules based on such observations into their "though-shall-not" texts does not make ideas about protectiong against such things any more valid, but also _not any less_.

  • Okay...let me see if I understand this one correctly. It's okay to feed a gambling addiction and possibly piss away all your money because the state can make money on the tax revenues. But revenues raised from legally selling marijuana are unacceptable, even though it is no more (and probably less) destructive than a gambling addiction and it would very likely raise more revenues for empty state coffers than building more casinos.

This is a stupid country with a twisted morality.

  • @FlatulenceFox You sound pretty stupid to me if you think morality has any effect on legislation in this country. If there is money and power behind an industry, then it will have all the kickbacks it wants. Drug companies are currently getting into marijuana business, but they won't legalize it because then people could just grow it and wouldn't need to buy it.

  • @FlatulenceFox morality is a diversion, keeping marijuana illegal means big money for drug manufacturers.

  • @FlatulenceFox

Conservative moralists in Utah recently tried to "fight the deficit" by proposing vast cuts to a certain government agency... the state liquor stores; one of the few agencies with a positive bottom line.

  • They tell us that we can't legalize marijuana because it's addictive and a gateway drug while millions of people everyday throw away they're life savings at these casinos. Don't get me wrong if a person wants to gamble they're money away that's they're right but can we not have some sort of reason with our vice laws in U.S? at least with Marijuana and hemp it could help the economy with little to no negative consequences.

  • Even though Obama sometimes leaves a lot to be desired, I can't understand why so many bash him for not being "qualified" for whatever reason when this nation actually elected a mentally & intellectually challenged man not just once, but twice!!! as leader of the most powerful nation in the world. The results of that leadership were the results you would expect from a mentally challenged man. What hell is wrong with this country?

  • What exactly are we going to gamble with, again?

  • I can't say that my area is representative of everywhere but the means are available. We're having this same debate in my state (Ky). The gov's trying to bring in casino's (we currently don't have any) to try raise revenues. However, there's already plenty of gambling venues around, and the people that live near the border of our state are simply leaving to the casino's sitting at the state line. To the extent the problem exists in our state it is there with or without the casino.

  • these people make the damn choice to gamble, when all is said and done, its their own damn fault.

  • @BloodJunkie11 It is correct to say "it's their own damn fault". But look at who most compulsive gamblers are, people with little to no money chasing that elusive big win that will solve the money problems. This most likely isn't going to happen and in turn it makes the poor poorer. A better solution to our budget problems would be to tax the upper 1% seeing as how they pay little to no taxes already. Unless you agree with preying on the poor to solve all our budget problems.

  • Tax all short term stock trades and have a per stock transaction tax to eliminate all the DAY TRADING BS, where you don't work at all but just stay home and make money off of other peoples money. Tax HEDGE FUNDS at the 91% rate to eliminate all this Wall Street gaming.

Wall Street investments used to be for long term savings and pension plans but has turned millions of americans into gamblers, staying at home and not working and leeching of the rest of us.

    TAX THEM ALL!

  • There are plenty of ways to gamble without a casino; online, other venues like dog/horse tracks, private venues, and almost by definition they wouldn't have a gambling problem if they weren't able to gamble. I don't live anywhere near a casino yet I'm able to gamble if I want too. Nearly every bar in town has some sort of gambling function along with poker games every week at my local fire dept.

  • Seriously, you guys are being reactionary...sounds like an uninformed anti-drug argument.

  • LOL at the small amounts of $ the average casino goer gambles being a meaningful amount of money to invest in a small business. Over time, gambling losses per hour for most games at most limits are <$20, and can easily be between $10 and $15 if a person is conservative. If you are at a casino that offers free drinks for players, this can easily be a modest night out for entertainment. For non-addicts, it is entertainment. For addicts, they are going to ruin their lives elsewise anyway...

  • Wow. Cenk does not think highly of the poor working class and their gambling habits.

  • @weehasu If you're poor, feed your kids and wife, dont throw the money away.. lol

  • Casinos = tax on stupidity.

  • @SketchyBack no, it's a tax on optimism

  • how the fuck did bush win two terms?

  • @fukkensully Stupid people + 9/11. Bush lost every debate to Gore and Kerry, and they're boring as fuck to listen to.

  • @fukkensully voter fraud.

  • @fukkensully He won it at poker...lol

  • @fukkensully GOOOD fuckin question, its a mystery

  • @fukkensully its what the american people wanted. any president who is both pro war and pro christian wins the election.

  • @fukkensully well one term

  • @fukkensully rigged elections + the misinformed fuxed news viewers & their voting power

  • @fukkensully USA is filled with stupid people.

  • @fukkensully Because almost 60% of our voting populous is uneducated..............that and Kerry had NO energy whatsoever.

  • @fukkensully not sure on the first one cause his father was a total screw up and shoulda knew that from the go, but the second one was that his group stole votes to win

  • @fukkensully he stole the first one and also did it with the second one

  • Gambling might help with state budget deficits, but they'll destroy lives and families.

  • @ogrish84 Wow, this sounds alot like the anti-drug argument. I suppose your argument is if casinos are brought around large droves of helpless, mindless people will go there and spend their savings/childrens college money. Do you have any evidence for that? Of course not. The small number of people that have a real gambling problem are gambling whether there's a casino near by or not. What casino's bring is a tourist attraction that raises revenue from within the state and out of town.

  • @senortonyful "The small number of people that have a real gambling problem are gambling whether there's a casino near by or not."

Let me ask your question right back: "Do you have any evidence for that?"

  • I don't gamble because I have a rudimental understanding of probability and I get my entertainment in other ways, but how is gambling WRONG? what makes it wrong?

  • @Platypus2048 the politicians who "assist" the casinos, lottery or any other gambling institution to make themselves and their henchmen pockets fat is makes them wrong.

and to me anything that lets the corrupt side of government win is WRONG.

  • @theprotectshade OK... So if a politician find a way to make money off of daycare, then using daycare for your children is WRONG?

    hmm...

  • @Platypus2048 yes it is, but one with benifits. i said the "corrupt side of government" was wrong and i mean it but if helps than it helps then it is a right that came from a wrong. also, why would you let the corrupt politician have any type control over your children if something goes down in the daycare you should expect 100% your fault at the end and the "corrupt side of government" will make you WRONG.

  • @theprotectshade I think you missed my point (it might be that I'm missing your point though) My point was that the fact that corrupt politicians make money off of something doesn't mean that the act they manage to profit from is wrong. It is the actions of the corrupt politician that is wrong, not yours. I have no moral objection to gambling.

  • What was that audio clip? I missed that! Was it Rick Perry?

  • @Lexoka g.w. bush

  • @Lexoka George Bush, I know they sound a lot alike..

  • @salmonline

    @Mordicay1849

Thanks. I don't know if it's just the accent, but yes, they do. Plus, they seem roughly equally dumb.

  • @Axbent does that include the police department since they are government? Cuz I'm sure you'd be all for them if your house was robbed and you wanted your stuff back.

  • Most people gamble for pleasure, would you say its immoral for people to buy dvds?

  • @flake452 That's not really an apt comparison, it's two very distinct forms of entertainment. A closer one might be people buying DVDs, rolling a 60-sided die and keeping them if they get 3 6's in a row, otherwise they throw them away and buy another set with the same deal. Sure they get some weird enjoyment over the whole process, but it's still stupid. Immoral? Depends whether they have someone depending on them financially, or if they owe someone money.

  • I've seen people in wheelchairs with oxygen tanks in a casino on the Mississippi gulf coast at the slot machines.

  • I consider myself a progressive, and I have NOTHING against casinos. I love casinos, and they aren't too difficult to figure out if you do a little research. Plus, some of them give free drinks and you make back part of your money with the casino rewards cards. I also love gawking at all the cute old people bussed in from retirement homes playing with their pennies. No one is forcing me (or them) to do it!

  • In 2011 I probably gambled away about $500

  • haha fuckin Dubya

  • in the UK there are bookies EVERYWHERE lol

  • How did the American government not meet with a hostile take-over in the past 3~6 months yet? How are the American people still taking it up the ass from their government?

  • lol reminds me of the simpsons.

  • 4:20

  • When a casino comes to your town the local restaurants and stores will soon be gone. Walk around the blocks near the casino and you will find a dead zone for small business.

  • You got something against guys with missing teeth?

  • This bitch is too freaking dramatic

  • Legalize!

    Peas.

  • I'm shock that the government didn't encourage people to smoke more after they increase taxes on cigarettes. I agree that you should legalize and tax casinos, but to encourage people who don't gamble to gamble, that is stupid

  • You Poor, poor Americans.

You voted for this dumbass- Bush.

    TWICE!

    (facepalmSLAP!)

  • @Domzdream No they didn't. Bush didn't win the second time.

  • 420.....lol

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think gambling is immoral, it's pretty fucking stupid but it's not immoral.

  • if they regulated and taxed weed and prostitution they could help balance the budget too much rather get high with a hooker than lose money at a casino

  • In california we had to vote on a ballot measure to approve the native americans having casinos. LV and NJ gambling establishments spent a fortnue fighting it but lost anyway.

  • damn i believe it too my aunt is fucking addicted to the slots in her life time i can easily say she has gambled away about 75 k or more its the most pointless thing i have ever seen smh but eh its her paychecks

  • welcome to the future casino gulag economy

  • Let's increase the income inequality by proposing more asinine budgets so our politicians can work for these casinos after they are out of office. This is currently happening with the music industry why not casinos? What needs to be done is real moral oversight on the practices these inbreed politicians are getting away with.

  • I love it, paying an extra 50 bucks a year in taxes is the government ripping us off. But wasting your next house payment on craps is fine, because its your choice.

  • I don't see Obama doing any better

  • Wall Street is home to the biggest casinos in the world, perhaps we should tax Wall Street to raise revenues.

  • @kileer7 Silly rabbit, logic isn't for the real world.

  • @kileer7 WHAT? you pink bellied communist liberal! what an insane idea!

  • @kileer7 That's like comparing crack (casinos for the poor losers) to pure cocaine (gambling with bundled European derivatives and shit) In other words, they're basically the same and should be treated in the same way.

  • Ah, lovely corporatism again...

  • Whoa...alright, first off I love you guys! However, I am very disappointed here. Native American's robbing the white man back was a really low blow...and playing the very disturbing "sovereignty" speech...even in today's age where American's are accepting Muslim's from the middle east Native Americans are still the least understood culture, insult to injury, they were here first...before slavery, the constitution or terrorism

  • It is not the governments job to protect people from themselves. GET GOVERNMENT OUT OF OUR LIVES! If poor people want to gamble then they should have every opportunity too. Smart ones won't (or will win), dumb ones will and lose money.

  • I supervisor of mine once lost EVERYTHING to gambling. The guy was well off, plenty of sound investments, beautiful home, pension, 401k, etc.

He ended up with NOTHING! Living out of his FUCKING CAR!

He was otherwise, a very smart man.

Very sad to witness. Compulsive gambling is a DISEASE! I've seen it first hand.

  • @TruthAndMoreTruth

Well clearly he wasnt that smart if he lost half of his money and then kept going. It doesnt take more than a little self-control to cure this "disease" as you call it, in my opinion calling it a disease is an insult to people with real diseases such as cancer everywhere.

  • @Drunkpiledriver "Well clearly" you're a dick who talks out of his ass! But thanks for the useless, and unqualified comment.

BTW: An otherwise healthy person inexplicably lacking "little self-control" is what defines the disease.

    douche bag.

  • So, they won't do real tax so they will do a Tax on Fools. Who tends to gamble? The poor and uneducated. Well done the USA. In the UK the National Lottery takes money from poor football supporters and uses it to subsidies opera for rich people.

  • Casinos aren't legal in California. On Lake Tahoe, where the state line goes through, there is a stark shift in the city between Navada and California

  • always 11 dislikes.

  • It's bullshit. We have two giant casinos in CT-- we ostensibly get a slice off the slots (adds out to tens of millions per month, and we're still laying off state workers left and right. It's the easiest thing in the world, to make money disappear.

  • I'm highly unhappy with the casino going up in Cleveland. It will be open soon... crime is already extremely high in Cleveland, it will skyrocket afterwards.

  • You can't spend $100 on a new business, but you can on a penny slot

  • Its up the the people to decide if that's how they wanna waste their money... if the person wants to be irresponsible then that's their right

  • Gambling isn't immoral. It is stupid!

  • Bush did one good thing, and that is give us a president to laugh at.

  • Nobody forces nobody to go to a casino... When to a casinon once in my life, didn't even played 1€ there

  • @Melpheos1er I went to a casino for the first time while in Mexico, I wasted 20 bucks my mother gave me, and honestly, I didnt even want to waste a dollar, not only is it boring, but all the money you waste can be used for better things.

  • @Melpheos1er uh what

  • @Melpheos1er Goodness, your grammar is atrocious.

  • @Melpheos1er Ever heard of Dopamine Agonists?

  • @Melpheos1er Your comment is grammatically awesome and painful at the same time.

  • @Melpheos1er You obviously underestimate the level of stupid people in the States.

  • I'm fine with casinos and don't understand how it's taking away poor peoples money? This is where i agree with the Liberations on if people want to throw their money in hopes they hit the 1 - 1,000,000 chance of getting rich let them just make sure that these casinos are working on the up and up not bullshitting.

  • @duleekrauser lol I think you meant Libertarians, not liberation. Liberation is when you set something free.

  • @dagrimmreepa yeah that's what i mean. lol

  • I might get hate for this but why does morale kick in when we're talking about gambling but not gay marriage? I think both should be allowed, it's up to people to decide what is moral for them or not.

  • I can already hear the Max Keiser jokes.

  • Sure casinos make jobs, but you need to be insanely rich to get the license to operate a casino and then any successful casino like any other business will asorb more money than it pays out.

The only thing that could ever come from a casino is if we focus it on the high class, let them gamble and throw away money.

It makes it hard to defend the poor when we see the minority of them losing all their money by gambling or drinking or buying the latest tech and clothes. Learn to save, people, please!

  • i'm almost 21 and i have literally no desire whatsoever to gamble or even set foot in a casino??? am i the only one who doesn't see its appeal.

  • @pinkycheeks one day you will.

  • Encourage poor people to gamble away what little money they have.

  • Here in Kansas City, MO there are four (4) casinos that I know of, and we had the bright idea a couple of years ago to eliminate the gambling limit. When that happened, the slots tightened up and something else magically happened: You can't smoke in a bar anymore...

But you can in the casino...

Casinos; They also want to limit your rights.

  • Gambling isn't wrong gambling addiction is. Its a quick thrill imo

  • No casinos in LA??? Lmao I'm a big Cenk fan but hes clueless on this one. Ever heard of The Commerce Casino?

  • can you say "economical desperation"? or is it "economic depression"? LOL

  • But the game never ends/when your whole world depends/on the turn of a friendly card.

  • Here in Indiana they could make a whole lot more money if they sold beer on Sunday. They lose millions to Illinois and Michigan every week!

  • I'm from Nevada and casinos are dirty shitty places.. Lol but the biggest casino in the USA is owned by a guy that is like 1/500 native American....

  • Reminds me of when our former Premier (of New Brunswick) Shawn Graham opened a casino here in Moncton because our finances are a mess. I hated it because the move reeked of desperation. The only time I want to see that building is when it is up in flames.

  • I don't think Churches are any different from Casinos!
