@AOXOMOXO sorry, I listened to coma right after I posted the comment, realised it wasnt right, looked at the comments page but mine wasnt there to delete thought it didnt post right, I even looked it up on tunatic (like shazam) and didnt find anything.
@ironcross85 I did. Yes, I had jumped it several times that day without any disconnect.. Yes, Skydive Dallas, but no - my screen name is my real name. I'm no longer at that DZ.
When I did my 1st tandem, the guy ahead of me was on his 2nd jump tandem & they had to do cut away. Then the chick after me was so scared, she threw up all over her instructor and his rig and canopy. Glad I was in the middle. I had a blast!!
Everyone should do it at least once. It's an amazing experience and you'll want to do it again and again.
Had you jumped it since it had been connected to the container?
Reversing the risers happens occasionally and by accident. If you think about it it also takes a half twist on each riser to keep the riser rings facing forward when you screw up the hook up.
To the best of my memory, the line twist that I recall was with each individual riser but I did not recognize the risers twisted with one another. Some of my *friends* on the ground suggested sabotage (such as reversing the risers) but they were *joking*.
@aaronklijn - this didn't seem like a high-speed malfunction. From your description it sounds like a simple step-over (imagine laying out your pack-job and then rotating your container once, end-over-end; this twists your forward and rear risers on each side). Usually these can be steered and landed w/ not too much trouble. Just a couple second delay on left/right/flare.
@aaronklijn - the only way i can imagine you being backward is if you had a bitchin line twist (not a problem here) or if you'd actually detached your canopy lines from your risers before packing and reattached them in reverse. don't think there's any packjob that turns the whole canopy around. (brakes might've been on the wrong side if your risers were twisted in step-over, but they'd still work and your canopy'd still go forward.)
Was this shot at Skydive Dallas? That hook-shaped road at the DZ looks familiar.

1) Who was the d*ick who hooked the risers up backwards? 2) RSL? That drop seemed long.

How did you end up facing the wrong way? Did you somehow flip through the risers as your canopy deployed? Linetwist?

@aaronklijn was main canopy steerable, have y been able to ride on it? (sry my english is not one of the best)
l0lkie 1 year ago
@l0lkie Did not try to steer it because I was facing toward the rear of the canopy.

@surfmanitou Definitely a pack job issue. I didn't think I could land it safely facing the wrong way.
