I have a very large Salt tank in my home. I worked for a commercial Aquarium where I learned all sorts of cool stuff about marine life.

Your Tank looks good. Oh and by the by....of the over 24 different species of Pirana....there's only 2 that are man eating. So when you have boyfriends over...ask them not to stand too close to your tank....lol.

I accidentally found your videos in a search. I may have a disease that could mean my gender may be ambiguous from my illness. It stirred old feelings my gender, and I guess I'm a little scared. I'll check that website too, but... Regardless of what the tests find, I am not sure it will change how I feel. I honestly don't feel 'right' as I am, even though I have fought against that feeling. I had the same three pond goldfish for 6-years in a medium size tank. The tank was so hard to keep clean so I would buy algae eating fish but my goldfish would always kill them in less than an hour. After many attempts I gave up, how on earth do you keep a tank that large clean?

Good filtration. Goldfish are also horribly messy fish. The larger the tank, the easier it is to clean really.

Are there only 2 guppies in there? Have you heard of fishless cycling? The way I did it was I put a heater in and turned it all the way up (bacteria grow faster in warm temperatures), turned my filter and aerator all the way up for max oxygen(also helps the bacteria multiply), dumped in some supplemental bacteria, and then put in a little ammonia each day. You check the levels each day to see how fast the bacteria are growing. You can cycle a lot quicker with fishless cycling.

It depends on the genera. Pygocentrus like to be in shoals, while Serrasalmus like to be alone. I am getting 4 Pygos.

I have a problem with getting little obsessions, too. People keep telling me I probably have Asperger's (but my therapist says just gender issues!). I got 3 aquariums, but I'm not supposed to have anything bigger than 30 gal. in my apt.

Don't Pirahna eat each others' eyes? Everytime I see them at the store they're missing a lot of eyes. Seems icky. The meanest thing I have is a blue crayfish/lobster in my "punishment tank" where I put fish who are mean to my snail. He's ate 7.

I thought aquariums were supposed to be a relaxing Bob Ross-like hobby, but it sounds like many of us have aquatic chambers of doom.

The problem with mean stuff is that it likes to dig up your plants and destroy everything. The only thing my lobster can be trusted with is his big coffee cup house and various rocks.

I had a Goldfish for 3 Years and Raised him from a very Little Fish to a 5 inch Long Goldfish, then I bought some more Fish from Walmart and they had a Disease and killed my Goldie :(

I had 1 pirahana in my 29 gallon tank for quite a while back in the 1980s. It wouldn't eat orange goldfish for some reason, but it ate any other fish you put in the tank. Mine was a red belly, but there are a couple other types also. They'll get pretty big in a tank that large.

Pacus grow to over 30 inches in length and pet stores fail to tell people that.  They also end up not looking like a piranha as they get older.

Really?! My father had some, I know they get big, but wowza, 30 inches?! No, they don't tell you that at the pet store!! LOL! I just mostly remember them being kind of stupid fish, they would swim straight into the side of the tank... almost knocked it over more than once. And as I recall they often got stones stuck in their mouths... it's odd the things one remembers. :)

I had 6 Columbian Sharks, 5 red dwarf gouramis, 5 blue gouramis and 2 plecos. When I moved they didn't take to the water change and slowly all died. I'm very hesitant to start up another tank though.. its a lot of money to start them up and if they don't take to the water.. no use in spending so much. Maybe someday! At one point though I had 8 tanks up and running. I still have my turtle though.. :-)

Four feet isn't that big and the fish are probably going to be more interesting than an equal size tv.
