  • FUCK RELIGION AND THE STUPID FUCKS WHO BELIEVE IN IT, ITS 2012 WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!

  • There are two elements to a cover and I'm talking real covers like this one for example not some Nikki Minajj shit.

    1. Respect the initial artist

    2. Make it respectable and as meaningful as the first one with a twist or alter meaning.

    This epitomizes a perfect cover

  • i give tons of credit to John Lennon but this cover is amazing and fits this time period perfectly. Amazing song.

  • its amazing how similar, yet drasticly different this version is in comparison with john lennons.. like there the same tempo & everything but lennons is so uplifting & this versions so dark.. anyways i love both!

  • Maynard has one of the most gifted voices in the world, its so unique, like nobody can try to sound like him, he also harmonizes amazingly, mostly in his cover of Fiddle and the Drum. He picks songs with at times simple meanings, and the his versions make them sound amazingly intresting, wondering why he chose it and how he really feels about the song or the artist itself. Maynard will be one of my favorite artists and teacher.

  • Great song honoring a great idea held by a great being.

  • Everybody who takes life for granted should listen to this until it's stuck in their heads forever

  • check out John Lennon - Working Class Hero

  • this cover is brilliant. Love the way that the lyrics totally change meaning with the song.

  • Maynard James Keenan really does the best cover songs, this, What's Going On and Led Zeppelin's No Quarter by Tool are just fantastic covers!

  • this song is about this hell hole we call earth.

  • I love how he explained the mood of this cover to magazines ages ago. . . that this is how it would be if Lennon kept singing it over the years, how he'd be sadder each time. Maynard's truly gifted.

  • @Evilbitch666 Good post

  • maynard james keenan should be the only person who is allowed to cover songs

  • @drokk66 Agreed.

  • meh

  • Such a shame world peace is impossible. :(

  • @ZuliBlade why

  • @loosekarrott It's human nature to fight.

  • @ZuliBlade deep, bro

  • No, this song is about how good McDonald's pleasures our taste buds but how bad it results in our health.

    *Sarcasm*

    Life is bittersweet.

Love this version as well as the original.

  • This song is about what communism could have been.

  • @Xaisede If only...

  • Comment removed

  • @Xaisede true

  • i think i am some times the only one wtf whos got danja187 hoods back man we need some help dam it all

  • agreed...

wish JL were here to dislike it

    point taken

    ;~)

  • Lennon's version is what can be done. This version is what could of been done.

  • I prefer this over the original. Sounds so much more... deep.

  • “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.” - W.A.Ward

  • taught to fear what we don't know, starting from our childhood.... prejudices and such inhibit us from accepting anything foreign. You realize some of these things when it feels like it's too late to change anything. I really like this song, it speaks to me

  • @darkdeminsion the original copy is perfect in every way, sorry adderoll makes me want to comment on everything

  • The Perfect Album to listen to after the Apocalypse....eMotive

  • Why do you people always have to argue? I wonder if Maynard ever browses these songs just to see what people have to say. I honestly hope he doesn't. He'd all be severely disappointed in you people. It's like you don't even listen to the lyrics of the song, then go onto the comments to purposely contradict the meaning behind it. I don't get it. You people know what the problems are in this world, then you just go and contribute to it... proving exactly why said things continue. Such selfishness.

  • @Lazarus142 Maynard disappointed in us? I believe he made a song about that called Aenema

  • @Lazarus142 who the fuck's maynard?

  • @kenny8331 lol. obviously not a fan of A Perfect Cirlcle, Tool, or Puscifer. Maynard James Keenan, lead Vocals of APC,& Tool.

  • @tfttf4036 oh, the lead singer. yea, im a fan i guess. i have an old cd with one of their songs on it. i like their song "3 pounds" about how eve fucked all dudes over in the garden of eden. thats the 1 i was looking for when i found this. i found it now but its called 3 libras on youtube, pounds-lbs, whatever, same thing.

  • @kenny8331 oh,ok. lol

  • @kenny8331

You can't be serious... and if you are then GTFO!

  • @skyedancer22 whats gtfo mean? serious about what? its an old cd called CAD. it has a tool song on it like sober but with some different words and it has 3 libras on it too but with some different words. what the fuck is a skye dancer?

  • @Lazarus142 'you people'. What is that supposed to mean...

  • Good song <3 Maynard

  • @tulpoy .stupid?why don't you try creating something you ignorant sheep..do us all a favor, go back to bed, close your eyes and sleep, and please don't ever wake up again. You are ,a FREAKING IDIOT!..you obviously have no reason to be here since you don't like it, so hit dislike, and leave, there is no need to insult people..schizophrenia is a serious disorder of the mind..and as I said before, you are a simple sheep, who doesn't think before he shoots crap from his mouth...I take pity on you.

  • when john lennon sang this song, already I knew he was talking of one world government... the melody was cheerful.... but I doubt I was supposed to sway to the song... until I heard this song... I play this song whenever I see politicians....

  • Excellent interpretation. Moving and evocative.

  • Not many bands can cover a song and make it their own.

    Absolutely beautiful cover.

  • what do you mean by relative or absolute terms?

  • Tulboy. If THESE are stupid lyrics, god only knows what "cryptic" messages are in modern music.

  • Fuck Cee Lo Green

  • there's no such thing as "better"

  • @1y9b9b there can be, just depends on if you are using it in relative or absolute terms. Of course there is no universal standard for what is best but if you want a happy feeling then john lenon's imagine is "better" for that purpose, if you are in a loath humanity kind of mood then there's APC.

  • I love both versions. Although lyrically, they are the same song, they starkly contrast one another in terms of vision. It puts us in a unique position to see both sides of one coin. The light and the dark. The yin and the yang. Whatever you may call it. Lennon and Maynard are both great artists who are highly respected within the world of music and visionaries.

  • It's pretty moronic for people to think that John Lennon was some generic "happy sunshine rainbow" hippie that would be disappointed with this cover.

  • This song wouldn't even fucking exist without John Lennon morons!

  • @futuredeath Everyone knows that chuck norris and tupac wrote this song, not john lennon, are you crazy?

  • Lennon's Version shows Hope. It's like having stars in your eyes and thinking up all these things humans can do.

Maynard's shows lost hope. It almost has an ironic taste to it. It sounds bittersweet, like he's about to snort and go 'yeah right'.

I love them both, but Maynard's is more 'this era' than Lennon's.

  • what stupid lyrics.sounds like he is schizo.

  • @tulpoy do you even know what schizophrenia is?

  • @tulpoy im actually just gonna go ahead and call you stupid because its obvious you got no idea what the word means or you just dont know how to read

  • @tulpoy Are you being serious, or are you just an idiot trying to be funny? Do you even know what schizophrenia is? It's a mental disorder where people have trouble separating reality from whatever goes on in their head. And it's not funny. It's a serious problem for all who have it or their loved ones have it.

  • This is the today's version of Imagine haha..You know everything else failed. This just screens how is it today

  • if I was john lennon i'd be proud as hell to have ANOTHER band of merit think a song i made was interesting enough to take and put their own spin, and feeling on... that's just me

  • @Swingarwolf1 MOST HUMBLE BANDS THINK THAT WAY ANYWAYS.

  • Didn't know this was a cover but great singer and great lyrics :)!

  • this is our generation of "Imagine"....epicness like our generation

  • @thaiboy311

    Our generation sucks dude.

  • @TheActiveAssault i know it does

  • what is the BFD?

    Lennon covered others' songs

    Others' cover Lennon's

What is the point in trying to sound like Lennon or The Beatles? That's an epic fail from the start.

    What's to do then?

As a musician/band, you're left with struggling to come up with an inventive arrangement and/or interpretation which is not tribute band/mimickery

I Imagine Lennon, the musician, wouldn't give a shit...

  • @CosmicXRay you're right, but they arent trying to sound like lennon, they're showing their perspective of the song. they feel like the song should be dark, not up toned.

  • @CosmicXRay Maybe he Wouldn't, if He was Still alive. .

  • @CosmicXRay Big Floppy Dildo??

  • This is the best Song i ever heard...

  • i love this version. the original is too happy. it sounds so much better with this melancholic feel. love it!

  • @darkdeminsion this version is great but john lennon made a beautiful song

  • @MrBloodybullet And APC did beautiful cover. End of fucking story, right?

  • @darkdeminsion The original doesn't sound happy at all it's actually beautiful with it's simplicity, A perfect Circle just took it and made it their own which also turned out very beautiful, but I don't know how you could listen to Lennon's version and think it's sounds happy in any way...I've never heard any happiness in the song and I listen to it...a lot.

I guess that's just my opinion...

  • @beautifullydecayen The sound he or she is referring to is less aptly described as happiness. But I do know what he/she means. The original has a sound of hope in it, like he could be smiling as he sings it. The music is uplifting and inspiring.

This version has more sadness and desperation, as though it's trying to remind us of Lennon's words while we're on the cusp of the end, before it's too late. This song laments that Lennon's message has not been heard.

  • @beautifullydecayen When I listen to this song, I imagine it to be the dying shell of the original, treated to brutality and atrocity, frail and in the midst of a battle zone, but retaining the same spirit in the lyrics.

I don't think one is better than the other. I think this is one of the best covers ever though, and I think it was an amazingly appropriate evolution of the original. This one seems more realistic to me, the other one seems more optimistic.

  • how come everybodys talking shit about Lenon with out him this song wouldnt exist and The Beatles would never exist soo there for Tool wouldnt exist.... now imagine that

  • This Remake puts John Lenon to shame... Although John Lenon already sucked.

  • Not bad, but not as good as the original.

  • Making Imagine flat was a genius move. It puts a totally different spin on the original. I may prefer the original, but I can absolutely appreciate and enjoy this cover, especially the instrumentals.

  • Comment removed

  • This one just sounds a lot darker.

  • Müthiş.

  • Maynard's voice is actually perfect for this song....strange

  • tihs version in my oppinion is better tbh sme ppl dnt like it cuz the song shows how dark cruel and horrible this world is

  • This song is a WARNING of what will happen if the World Don't Wake up to the FACT that your all being lead to the slaughter.., I agree with ASTERIKK. This song is Dark, Really Dark and Unveils a Reality that is in fact the New World Order Agenda.., A TRANS-POST HUMAN AGENDA.

  • john lenon probably is not proud...but i dont give a shit about john lenon

  • @Migas128 John Lennon wasnt around to see the Alternative scene, was he? The song is much darker because the world is so much darker then before.

  • @DeeM10123 darker? i dont think so...it's better in certain ways, the creation of international organizations like ONU, and OTAN (NATO), the 1st and 2nd world war had finished so does the cold war (between russia and USA) ...well its not good yet but the creation of international organizations kinda make it better...but there will always be wars, people need to fight sometimes to get god for themselves...my history profs told me if theres a 3rd war it will be for resources

  • @Migas128 you are very right and we can only hope to god its not with the Russians

  • @REDEAGLE462 god. doesnt.exist...it was just a educational metod of old days used with fear "u believe or you suffer forever in hell" thats why people still believe...oh well

  • @Migas128 if you were fighting the Russians it would be almost like there was no god

  • @REDEAGLE462 dude your replies about russians are so funny XD DUDE! stop playing mw3 lol

  • You're one of those opinionated smart dumb people aren't you?

  • @YiddishDancingClown "smart dumb people" lol

  • Yea, one of those opinionated know-it-all assholes who don't actually have any idea what the fuck they're talking about.

  • @YiddishDancingClown Yeah one of those pinionated big-john-lennon-fan that treats everyone that talkj shit on lennon...fuck off slag!

  • @Migas128 what i said has nothing to do with any fucking video game, i am Russian and my people have show that we will destroy anyone who fucks with us, and that shit in Afganistan does not count.

  • @REDEAGLE462 dude...i don't understand shit you're talking about O__o

what afeganistan shit??? what a hell ur talking about!?

  • @Migas128 i don't use video games as my reference and i know alot about a lot

  • @REDEAGLE462 cool story bro.

  • Comment removed

  • @Migas128 He probaly is proud that someone is using peace in music, american i suppose?

  • @Migas128 you have that "brand" type attention seeking that america loves.

  • @shadowsenzor didn't understand...and no, im tired of yankies, fuckin fake bitchez

  • @shadowsenzor and you have a pole up your ass

  • @Migas128 Maynard makes John Lennon look like justin bieber.

  • @Budandlongboards567 talikng shit about bieber is not even funny anymore...corey taylor the lead singer from slipknot and stone sour even said that... =/

i dont like bieber, but dont dislike him either...is one of those singers i dont give a crap about! xD

  • @Migas128 I'm not trying to make it funny. I just hate that mother fuckers guts. And yes I know who Corey is i'm a die hard Slipknot fan haha:D

  • @Budandlongboards567 his guts? lol does he got guts?

c'mon man, it feels like your feeling inferior or intimidated lol just don't thnik about him ahah

yeah slipknot is the shit, but i love stone sour 10x times more ^___^

  • @Migas128 No I hate him because he thinks he's making an impact on the world. He actually said he's the next Kurt Cobain. The fact he can even think that makes me furious. At least he's not saying he's the next Maynard, I would literally kill Justin..

  • @Budandlongboards567 DID HE SAYED THAT??? LOOOOL

the kid is on cracks...nicotine, valium, marijuana, exctasy and alcoohl!!! LOL

  • @Migas128 Queens of the stone age?

  • @SHman555 yhyh lol "feel good hit of the summer" ahah

  • @Migas128 Yeah that's what I thought. I love Queens of the stone age:)

  • @SHman555 there's a guy from qotsa that was from a perfect circle...i dont listen to them anymore cuz some girl stole all my albums and i dont wanna listen cuz kinda remind me of her ;)

  • @Migas128 Yeah, can't remember which one but I know there is one aahah

  • @Migas128 Id imagine he would be ok with it...

  • @Swingarwolf1 ahah thats kinda true

  • @Migas128 You should be ashamed..

  • @beefsoopreem fuck you john lennon creepers, always annoying me...i hate people that canrt admit when an artist is over...look like lil gayne...he sing sings sings but HE SUCKS! should quit!

    ...

sorry pal, never tend to disrespect lennon, but hes pres+ective of the song looks so soft. A perfect circle shows all those images and stuff make 100x more impact than lennon song..

  • @Migas128 John Lennon will never die. I prefer APC's version, but you should ALWAYS respect Lennon for his innovation both in musical extremes and political motivation. Sgt. Pepper's is the reason experimental music has grown so much. And putting Lil Wayne in the same category as musical legends like Maynard and Lennon is a travesty.

  • @Migas128 A cover is NEVER better than the original. Remember that.

  • @beefsoopreem yes a cover is better than the original, listen to jeff buckley covers of the smiths and chang that weary mind...Remember that.

  • @beefsoopreem This one isn't, but I much prefer Jimi Hendrix' version of watch tower.

  • @beefsoopreem That is bullshit, and you know it. (All Along the Watchtowe, Jimi Hendrix)

  • Omg I didn't realize this was a cover of John Lennons song. Gee what a scary cover. But beautiful.

  • This is funny to me. Maynard makes this song sad. Depressing. John Lennon made his beautiful, and happy, uplifting. But maynard turned the light into darkness. World will be perfect if Maynards die and Lennons live.

  • @Asterikk hate to burst your bubble, but Lennon's version was in no way meant to be "happy", he was just as much a cynic as Maynard is, and without people like Lennon and Maynard challenging us to think for ourselves the world would be even scarier than it is now... Don't be a sheep....

  • @MlWindscar09 Everyone thinks for themselves....even if they follow orders, or a fad. Everyone wants to be different, and those who are different want to be normal. Those who want to be normal are the minority- The conformists and the anarchists, is it perception, or is it reality...?

  • @Asterikk Perception IS Reality.

  • ממש אלבום לימנו אנו ממש this is tha Perfect albom for this days

  • this song kinda hits you hard : /

  • @DamagedAtaraxis: Funny. Took it a completely different way: I was stuck on the irony between the lyrics and tone. That is to say that this song should be played as the last of those "in the light" are falling after realizing the futility of their efforts. A mordant memorial to their cause.

  • This is a true Light Worker song. :-) Love and Light to you all. <3

  • Muy Buen Cover =)

  • I was listening to all the covers of song "Imagine" on youtube but I had to stop after this because it's so good. I feel no other cover can beat this.

  • guys, dont swear

  • @bludgerable fuck off you pussy-ass nigger-cunt bitch-slut.

  • @bludgerable no but seriously fuck you, the only reason words are stigmatized in the first place is because people like you censor them.

words represent thoughts and emotions, thoughts and emotions themselves are neither good nor bad, it is what you use them for that defines them.

so in short. fuck off you censoring sucker of satan's cock.

  • @madeofhatred wow man, i sense you dont like gay people either

  • @bludgerable love gay people, my boyfriend is gay as fuck and i couldn't live without him (i'm pansexual)

it is my personal belief that we are all the same consciousness, so to judge others is ludicrous. also every religion since forever says love everyone as you love yourself (even if you pretend to not love yourself)

  • @madeofhatred oh good ( im not gay, i merely sympathize with them when they're getting bullied or other, im going to stop talking now, im clogging up the comments section

  • free replay button 0:00

  • this song gives me chills...

  • @bludgerable Try the song Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rythm Of The War Drums. That song gives me chills every time he says "Go back to sleep!"

  • @bludgerable Better then the John Lennon version imo, but without John Lennon we wouldn't have this :p and agreed the song does give me chills, thinking about all the wars, and poverty its a cruel world.

  • @MoshPitPanda326 I don't know your age, but I'm 50 now and I can't say, one version is 'better' then the other. What I can say, is. They both work, for their time and place. We are, more jaded, cynical and mistrusting now. And this, dark, brooding almost mournful, version, seems to fit our time in history. I'm glad, I've lived in both centuries, but I'm sorry, for those who only know of this one! Either iether, it is an amazing piece of writing and music, given any decade

  • This song is peure genius, Maynard or Lennon, the message is still the same.

  • 276,000 views, and half of those are from me.

  • @TheSovietSamurai it's really not, a blink of the eye isn't even fast enough to generate an example of humanities time in this universe let alone one life of 100 years. The universe has gone on billions of years before us and will continue to go on billions of years after we were long gone. People would give anything to live for 1000 years but even then it would seem too short.

  • @TheSovietSamurai *there to be. I hate seeing typos like that and making one just upsets me. :|

  • People wish for there to be a god and a heaven because they're afraid of death. I don't believe in any kind of religion but if I can understand why people do. It's a way of reassurance that their life will not end when the time comes, so they force themselves to believe. Unfortunately no one has ever been back to tell us so we must wait until that day to find out, which nobody wants too but there's nothing we can do to halt the future. People say that 100 years is a very good and long life but

  • @TheSovietSamurai This is your life and it is ending one minute at a time!

  • @TheSovietSamurai I believe in God but i've been having a roller coaster on it lately. //: Just thought to share that with you.((:

  • @TheLoveNotWar1000 I believe in God and I believe what this song stands for how if there were no wars and greed and violence we would be connected with God as one

  • @TheKornkornkorn Yeah! ^,^ Peace!((;

  • @TheSovietSamurai Honestly, people say that God doesn't exist, but I don't see how that's legitimately possible. Unless there was something here prior to the universe's existence, there's no possible way for their to just be a "big bang" and everything suddenly exist. I don't force myself to believe in God at all.

  • @Samus5164 Sorry, "Force" was a bad example. Well similarly I find it impossible for there to be a man in the sky that commands everything. An explosion made by various particles and atoms sounds more logical to me. Although, I have been brought up as a Roman Catholic and have been christened. It is only recently that I have started to take a more scientific outlook on the universe.

  • @TheSovietSamurai The problem I have with your statement is the Roman Catholic part; as a Christian, I think the RCs have scared people away from Christ and made us all look like a bunch of loons that are incompetent and ignorant. It's not so much a "man in the sky", as much as I believe that it's a beneficent being who lives on another dimension, another universal plane, who has an intelligence that far surpasses ours.

  • @Samus5164 I suggest you look into "the Talmud of Jmmanuel". Just google it and keep an open mind. The information in it is powerful and can completely change your outlook on life and religion if you let it. I will say no more.

  • @DavidBradfield serious*
