Do you use a fry scream or a false cord scream? I can do the false cord/angry sigh thing but I can't get it to sound like Mikael at all(not deep enough) so I'm wondering if i'm using the right technique. I would really appreciate some help with this.
I use the fry technique all the way. Alot of people prefers to use the false cord technique for grunts, especially within the metalcore genre, but I don't support the usage of it. It has a (in my opinion) bad sound, low endurance and a small range. These things can be improved with practice, and there is successfull people who uses the false chord technique. But whatever you can achive with that, you can achive with the fry technique but in a larger scale. It's all about practice mate!
@whitekid345895 I think the opposite thing. Michaels uses death growl as many other deathmetal singers. In my oppinion, fry technique lacks of power -as you got to sacrifice some volume in order to get the distorsion from the fry- but it SEEMS to be louder and more aggresive. I really think fry is not the technique to choose when you wanna get some good lows, anyway you can get very similar voices with both techniques -you can check my covers to see that-. Use wichever fits you better.
