that fight invovling mayhem and miller. i know meyhem lost but that fight woke him up. he is coming back. i bet his goal is to knock shields out and then head over to the UFC and fuckin knock GSP. i fuckin hope so.
@WeaselHalfbreed Yes, those are the Strikeforce announcing idiots (mainly Gus Johnson) who have no idea what their talking about. That guy was announcing when Kimbo lost to Petruzelli and the announcer said that it was the most incredible victory in the history of MMA. What an idiot.
Fedor is definitely getting old ! You can tell in this fight because he wasn't as aggressive as he was in PRIDE. He was moving like a 60 year old granny compared to what he use to be like! I'd say these upcoming fights in Strikeforce are gonna be tough for him!!
Ba da prost mai esti , Rogers nu a avut absolut nici o sansa . Fedor este un barbat adevarat si este numarul unu .Fedor is the best , Fedea luchshii boets v mire !
Aww, come on you seriously like the Strikeforce ring announcer over Bruce Buffer? In my opinion Buffer is way more exciting and gets you more pumped for the fight, while the other guy is kind of boring if you ask me. Great card, and great video though.
I hate to repeat what everyone is saying Noyjeetut, but Rogers did not win round one.
Rogers reversed Fedor on the ground because Fedor went for a kimura. That was all. The nothing jab reopened an existing cut. Fedor had Rogers in trouble several times in the round. Fedor had more takedowns, more landed strikes, more octagon control, more submission attempts, and dealt more damage. There is no way to give Rogers that round unless you truly think surviving Fedor is worthy of winning the round.
@u8mylife47 Once again, Brett Rogers had no business fighting Fedor, for what he did impressed me because I thought Fedor would win in a minute or so. The thing is Fedor isn't losing in Strikeforce no matter what. The only possible person I could see beating Fedor is Brock Lesnar. If Lesnar does what he did to Mir the second time, he might pose a threat to him. I still don't see Fedor as best pound-for-pound, but he's still one of the best in the world.
Rogers was gnp in fedors guard, its a neutral position. He threw like 8 shots and landed 2 glancing blows. Stalling, jabbing from outside, leaning on the cage and doing nothing is considered winning the round? lol Did you see rogers barelly get up after his gnp, he was already gassed midway threw first!! lol Fedor also held the edge in power strikes 9-1. Looked like the cage gave fedor more trouble than rogers, otherwise this would have ended in first.
@Cessation3 Yeah, he freaking killed him because Brett Rogers isn't that good. I was expecting Fedor to win in about a minute or so, but Rogers did better than I expected. Fedor will kill the Strikeforce heavyweights. I don't see him losing with Strikeforce's line-up of heavyweights. The real test is in the UFC, and you have to agree with that.
carwin has only one notable win vs gonzaga, who was 2-3 in his last 5 anyway.
Mir is overated, thats common knowledge, recently beating one dimensional congo and sick past his prime noguera is hardly impressive, and losing to a 3-1 lesnar lol.
velasquez, hes to small and inexperienced to give fedor a challenge, has only beaten congo, who as mentioned, is vastly lacking, and rothewell,
santos is alright, but one dimensional and has fought weak competition.
If you've actually paid attention to MMA over the past few weeks, Lesnar isn't done. He may be a little slow at first on his comeback, but once he gets back into it I think he could pose a big threat to Fedor. I seriously doubt Overeem will ever fight in Strikeforce again, but he does cause kind of a threat (steroid pumper). I don't think Carwin poses a threat, Dos Santos could in the future, Mir does as well, his bjj is better and his striking is more technical, but Fedor has that power.
lesnar is already 33, time is against him, he has relied his whole 4-1 mma career, such as it is, on having a 50 pound advantage to get wins against terrible fighters
whats going to happen now? he'll have to recover from this serious illness and get all his size back, supposedly without relying on roids, train, fight and keep winning without losing once, lol, do you think that will happen? LOL!!! only delusional lesnar nuthugers believe that
Rogers is no different than your run of the mill ufc top hw, the division is as weak as ever, if anything overeem is the biggest challenge for fedor, and he's in strikeforce. It really doesn't matter where fedor fights, the result will be the same.

@Noyjeetut Yeah, I seriously doubt he will. Let me ask you a question, where do you think Fedor's biggest challenge is right now, the UFC or Strikeforce? Be honest.
How is Rogers no different from top heavyweights in the UFC. He's 10-1 with only one significant win (which in my opinion was a fluke). He's almost exactly like Carwin, but Carwin would beat Rogers, he'd take him down and pound him out, plus Carwin has the heavier hands. The only thing he has is his striking, height, and weight. If Fedor was in the UFC, you'd probably say that Lesnar is his biggest challenge, but since he's in Strikeforce, you have to say Overeem, but it's really Lesnar.
I don't even know what you are babbling about, sounds like you got paid and smoking crack again. You are not making any sense. Lesnar is done its over, looks like it will take you a while to figure it out.
I'll humour you though. Overeem is 32-10 in his prime, well rounded more experienced has far better striking and groundgame than lesnar, and is just as big, pumps roids, what advantage does lesnar have over him? Dealing with facts, is definetly not your forte.
You rely WAY TOO MUCH on facts to get you by. Have you not seen Lesnar lately functioning at 60% against top heavyweights. Overeem hasn't fought anyone lately but an old washed up Fujita and it looks like he's staying in Japan. Fedor will fight Werdum, beat him down, then they'll probably put him up against Lashley and he'll submit him in seconds. I am making sense, you aren't get it through your thick head, he's even older than Lesnar, he'll get punished by him, face it.
Maybe in your cracked out delusional world you're making sense, LOL way to accuse me of relying on facts LOL
lesnar has never fought anyone, 46 year old lhw couture, and 4-6 in his last ten past his prime herring, 2-5 kim, and vs his only descent competition he's 1-1 mir
fedor 31-1, is older than lesnar by 8 months, and he's already greatest ever fighter, and best p4p today
what has lesnar done at his age? get fucked up on roids and put together a pathetic 4-1 record vs garbage fighters, LOL
fedor land 5 punches ground and pound, big left hook that almost knock out rogers, two punches after that, two takedown, catch an armbarn but the cage was on the way, 1 punch land after reversing rogers. how did rogers win that round??? because rogers have crocodile skin? im glad fedor have a lot of fans now. but im worry because most of them dont know shit. i gotta admit, most of fedor fans are just nuthuggers. only some are true mma fans that knows whats going on
Miller survived Shields, just like Jacare. Look at the photos of the "near choke" in the 3rd. Miller is clamped down on Shields chin. Shields said it was painful but he had plenty air, was about to start fighting it saw 10 seconds and relaxed.
good thing u r not a judge , u r terrible jugging fight , Brett only good punch was the jab on the firts round the rest was all fedor control, submissions attempt, etc etc. and then just to finish the big punch. like nobody else.
rogers win 1 round!what a joke!fedor punched him almost to the ground 3 times and take him ti the ground!he dominated all 1 round!the punches you see near the cage are same as hong man did fedor and fedor jsut subbmite him, so here too fedor begans to subbmit rogers takeing his leg and his hand that stop rogers punching momentarily!so rogers has in stund up one landed punch and no take downs!no ademts of subbmission!keep real man!
hehehe wtf guys ? u guys didn't say that rogers going to beat fedor and know say that he was in dangerous hahaha... that guys are just too newbies... learn to lose he lose... "Win is a win... lose is a lose" - Mike Tyson
He controlled the round landed punches, throws and sub attempts, while rogers had about 4 good strikes including his Gnp(which was the only dangerous moment for Fedor).
Thing is, he hit Fedor's nose so he looked like the guy taking more punishment. People go with impressions rather than statistics most of the time. Haven't checked the stats myself so I have no idea who won the round on the scorecard.
I don't think there is gona be rematch with Rogers. Who gets more than 1 chance to beat Fedor. He had his moment. And what he did - 1 jab! No kicks, no submisions, no clinch work.. This is not boxing, Fedor will win eevn with his head off. Arlovski was also wining before the KO. He wants rematch too.
Excellent night of fights! Great recap. I was wondering during the first round of the Shields/Miller fight just how long it would take for the audience to start booing.
I think people were booing the fight because they thought (like me) Shield never wanted to finish the fight he was content to grind out a decision with lay n pray, when Miller actually wanted to fight and finish.
If Shields at least went to finish the fight it would have been interesting but he knew he was beat in stand up and didn't want to risk Mayhem standing up.
This is what happens with some ppls lone and unreal standard for Fedor. Do ppl think escapes, a cutting jab and some ground flurry (2 clean shots landed) are > than sub attempts, takedowns and legit (standup) punch rockin (left hook) ?
Great Review! Much respect for your knowledge of MMA. I also loved this CARD! When Miller got that Choke I hit the roof. As far as FEDOR...OMG! What can you say? The RIGHT HAND FROM THE MMA GODS!!! Go STRIKEFORCE!!!
Hell yeah it was a pretty good night of fights for sure!! I was impressed by most of it. Rogers definitely had Fedor in the first round. I was shocked. He could've finished him with perhaps one or two more clean shots with the ground and pound. But, Fedor is a "crafty" veteran! lol Thanks dude for the review, and I'll holler back later.
Just one of those great fights like Bonnat/Griffin that kinda leaves both fighters looking stronger because of it. Like they say, the winners were the viewers.
I really liked the show, i hear Bobby Lashley is fighting soon i think in december. I've become a fan of Mayhem which is good haha. this marks my second Strike Force event on tv second being Shamrock V Diaz. Anway great review glad you reivewed the even hope you review all of them.
Man I hope Strikeforce goes strong with this one. After seeing this, first I was proud of the guys for putting on such a great card. Second, I just wanted to give Dana the finger for all the bashing and discrediting he gives Strikeforce. Free or PPV, this show easily was in the top 5 of the year.
Lately, I've been getting tired of all the backpeddling Dana does at his post fight pressers over boring fights. I'm glad every fighter brought it here and show there is another outlet.
You aren't giving him enough credit on clinch control. Fight has 3 dimensions; stand up: I would give Fedor the slight edge here, but say that hook is almost equaled by Rogers busting his nose, clinch: All Rogers, ground: I say Rogers because he escaped, reversed, and held dominate position. Fedor went for subs that did not work but Rogers landed punches. But it doesn't matter, Fedor came back in the 2nd and did what he does.
The only major damage Fedor received in round 1 was from the jab at the beginning of the round to his nose, and from the ground-and-pound by Rogers later in the round. Upon closer inspection, a lot of those punches didn't even connect. Fedor, on the other hand, landed a nice clean shot to Rogers, causing him to stumble momentarily, and took him down a couple times. For the most part, he controlled the fight in round 1.
I'd say control was about even when you count that Rogers made up for losing the stand up by holding Fedor against the cage. But hey, it can be argued either way and was a fun fight.
Choi escaped Fedor's first armbar attempt against him. He got him on the second attempt though. If that cage wasn't there, Fedor would have had a good chance. If a roided Coleman couldn't stop it, Rogers probably couldn't either.
Ye the cage actually got a role in Fedors ground-game. You can see as he trys to get the armbar, he cant get his leg far enough out and around Rogers neck due to the cage.
You're blind if you think Rogers won the first. He had a jab and a little GnP. Fedor threw him down a couple times like a ragdoll, sub attempts, rocked him with the left.
He controlled the clinch and arguably took the ground by inflicting more damage, also reversed out of trouble. I still had Fedor taking the stand up, but not by much since I do give rogers credit for breaking his nose in the first exchange. You are stupid if you think that was one sided.
Guess i im an idiot as well, i think Fedor vs Rogers was very 1 sided.
Fedor was owning the stand-up and the ground game.
Rogers didt impress me much, other than he is strong as hell and can take some serious shots to his chin. All he did was press Fedor against the cage, hitting nothing in stand-up and only 2-3 hits actually got in when he tried to GnP Fedor.
Worst of all, him being such a bad loser and showing no sportsmanship at all after the fight, fucking disgrace if you ask me.
I'm with you. Fedor pretty much controlled the fight. Roger did very little outside of the jab. Fedor could take him down at will and hit him standing easily.
I think a lot of people here are being blinded by their love of Fedor. Nothing against him, but no way that first round was 1 sided. And it actually showed some holes Fedor has.
I think Johnson mentioning the rematch was just to keep the casuals interested. If he mentioned Overeem, people would have scratched their heads and said, "who?" If he'd said Werdum, I don't think that would have gotten anyone excited either.
As far as Mauro Ranallo, he's been annoying since PRIDE fell. He used to be much more serious, but now he's dropping horrible one-liners all the time.
Because he lost to the best? That seems like a petty knock on someone who brought it and made something everyone thought would be one sided competitive.
rogers did not hesitate. there's reason why fighters hesitate, it's because the other fighter reads their move. if they understand that the other fighter readstheir move, they can't attack, because it's pointless. don't degrade fedor's ability, because fedor is not a lucky man, he is a technical fighter.
Nah, he totally flinched before because he was gonna throw then decided not to do it. Fedor could have still hit him and ended but we'll never know. I was not taking anything away from Fedor.
I am lloking forward to the fight between fedor vs werdum and will be watching it online free at mmaweekly org

Eigh8Thechosenone 2 years ago
Thanks man. I was going crazy with that choke too... so close. I can't think of a KO that has been that impressive this year.
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
Hell yeah it was a pretty good night of fights for sure!! I was impressed by most of it. Rogers definitely had Fedor in the first round. I was shocked. He could've finished him with perhaps one or two more clean shots with the ground and pound. But, Fedor is a "crafty" veteran! lol Thanks dude for the review, and I'll holler back later.
jitsmonster 2 years ago
Just one of those great fights like Bonnat/Griffin that kinda leaves both fighters looking stronger because of it. Like they say, the winners were the viewers.
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
the announcers were saying it wrong! i swear its MOO-SOWI. the s' are silent
familyvalues07 2 years ago
LOL, I'll try that. How about first name, is it Gayguard, Gayhart, Gaygerd?
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
i'm pretty sure its gay-guard.
familyvalues07 2 years ago
Thanks man, that helps.

Thanks man. I really hope they stay around.

I'm glad every fighter brought it here and show there is another outlet.
mswolter 2 years ago
Ya, also notice how they weren't afraid to say "UFC," compared to how the UFC never would mention Pride until they bought it.
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
Fedor is just awesome! I was kinda with the crowd on booing Shields too since he was just holding Miller down.
starsoldier1 2 years ago
Ya, but I enjoyed portions of that fight.

Excellent show from Cody

Thanks Narox... didn't know you watched MMA.

man Fedor clearly won first round.
Rogers one jab, 3 Gnp punches
Fedor 1 hook that slightly rocked Rogers, 2 takedowns, 2 sub attempts, combination of blocked punches, controled standup tempo.
About equal ground control.
1st round clearly Fedor.
ATMirror 2 years ago
You aren't giving him enough credit on clinch control. Fight has 3 dimensions; stand up: I would give Fedor the slight edge here, but say that hook is almost equaled by Rogers busting his nose, clinch: All Rogers, ground: I say Rogers because he escaped, reversed, and held dominate position. Fedor went for subs that did not work but Rogers landed punches. But it doesn't matter, Fedor came back in the 2nd and did what he does.
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
The only major damage Fedor received in round 1 was from the jab at the beginning of the round to his nose, and from the ground-and-pound by Rogers later in the round. Upon closer inspection, a lot of those punches didn't even connect. Fedor, on the other hand, landed a nice clean shot to Rogers, causing him to stumble momentarily, and took him down a couple times. For the most part, he controlled the fight in round 1.
hexilum 2 years ago
I'd say control was about even when you count that Rogers made up for losing the stand up by holding Fedor against the cage. But hey, it can be argued either way and was a fun fight.

So you saw the hesitation too. Good to know man.
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
Rogers is a biggest piece of shit ref shouldnt have stopped it fedor should have kept going fuck him up some more!!!
serbianprince 2 years ago
Seems like a lot of hate on a guy for no reason, is this because of what he said in his post fight interview?
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
Thats right he has no respect! Fedor never says nothing bad about his opponents and respects them even after he whoops their ass!
serbianprince 2 years ago
i couldnt beleive rogers got out of the arm bar
hussain3075 2 years ago
It was amazing... no one escapes Fedor's armbars... until now. 0_o
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
Hmmm have you seen all of Fedors fights?. Brett isn't the first to escape Fedors armbar attempt.
fox23vang 2 years ago
Choi escaped Fedor's first armbar attempt against him. He got him on the second attempt though. If that cage wasn't there, Fedor would have had a good chance. If a roided Coleman couldn't stop it, Rogers probably couldn't either.
peacenlove4every1 2 years ago
Thanks, I never caught the freakshow fights.
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
Ye the cage actually got a role in Fedors ground-game. You can see as he trys to get the armbar, he cant get his leg far enough out and around Rogers neck due to the cage.
phrek75 2 years ago
Does he train in one now or not?
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
Great fights and great recap ! I hope CBS finds fights like this a winning combination !
rchin99 2 years ago
Thanks man... I really hope they did big numbers.
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
You're blind if you think Rogers won the first. He had a jab and a little GnP. Fedor threw him down a couple times like a ragdoll, sub attempts, rocked him with the left.
ivienthol 2 years ago
He controlled the clinch and arguably took the ground by inflicting more damage, also reversed out of trouble. I still had Fedor taking the stand up, but not by much since I do give rogers credit for breaking his nose in the first exchange. You are stupid if you think that was one sided.
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
Guess i im an idiot as well, i think Fedor vs Rogers was very 1 sided.
Fedor was owning the stand-up and the ground game.
Rogers didt impress me much, other than he is strong as hell and can take some serious shots to his chin. All he did was press Fedor against the cage, hitting nothing in stand-up and only 2-3 hits actually got in when he tried to GnP Fedor.
Worst of all, him being such a bad loser and showing no sportsmanship at all after the fight, fucking disgrace if you ask me.
phrek75 2 years ago 4
i totally agree, he does not deserve a rematch. The only person that i think shoulda rematch is Mirko Crocop.
fox23vang 2 years ago
I'm with you. Fedor pretty much controlled the fight. Roger did very little outside of the jab. Fedor could take him down at will and hit him standing easily.
peacenlove4every1 2 years ago
I think a lot of people here are being blinded by their love of Fedor. Nothing against him, but no way that first round was 1 sided. And it actually showed some holes Fedor has.
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
I think Johnson mentioning the rematch was just to keep the casuals interested. If he mentioned Overeem, people would have scratched their heads and said, "who?" If he'd said Werdum, I don't think that would have gotten anyone excited either.
As far as Mauro Ranallo, he's been annoying since PRIDE fell. He used to be much more serious, but now he's dropping horrible one-liners all the time.
MMAharaja 2 years ago
Is that the guy CroCop scared?
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
Rogers doesnt even deserve a rematch, the way he acted out after losing, second i think Fedor would beat him again, no doubt in my heart.
phrek75 2 years ago
shields lost that fight w/20 more secs. looks like he kinda tapped too.
Steadno 2 years ago
looks like brett has to go back to working at sam's club again.
thephilmyster 2 years ago
Because he lost to the best? That seems like a petty knock on someone who brought it and made something everyone thought would be one sided competitive.
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
i was just kidding around..rogers was a good opponent for fedor...but fedor has alot of heart.
thephilmyster 2 years ago
Then it's all good.
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
cool......now i wonder who is next on fedor's list.
thephilmyster 2 years ago
rogers did not hesitate. there's reason why fighters hesitate, it's because the other fighter reads their move. if they understand that the other fighter readstheir move, they can't attack, because it's pointless. don't degrade fedor's ability, because fedor is not a lucky man, he is a technical fighter.
howcynicalofme 2 years ago
Nah, he totally flinched before because he was gonna throw then decided not to do it. Fedor could have still hit him and ended but we'll never know. I was not taking anything away from Fedor.
Noyjeetut 2 years ago
best free card of the year?
