do you understand the point of them being in the rose parade for their football team and that all bands that ever go there play their fight song? You don't ever see usc, texas, michigan, or whoever else marching in the rose parade playing jingle bells or something.
It's not so much the repitition during the parade that's the problem, because every college band would play their fight song in the rose parade. It's the fact that during the game all they play is tribute to troy and fight on. It gets old. Every other college band I've heard has far more variety in their music.
USC only has one melody and one song; no entry no, resolution melodies. --That is why I say California possesses the best song book in college football:

Get invited to the largest marching comp in the country, have a nationally ranked colorguard and drumline. You need to earn the respect of your peers, like other marching musicians. Until then, your nothing but a marching band to everyone else.

AGAIN, let me remind you that we are not arguing what your doing it's how well your doing it. I would think someone who is attending such a prestigious Institution of higher education would be able to distinguish between the two.
this is totally true. not to mention, USC only gets these opportunities due to their close proximity to hollywood. If another school were as big as USC and as close to hollywood, they would get all the movie and record opportunities. I was told by a bunch of people that USC is full of themselves, and that is a complete understatement, they are just pure assholes.
All of you dissenters: 1. Attend 4-hour practices the week before the parade and game. 2. Go to a New Year's Party, then head over to campus to get on the bus to the parade at 2AM for a 3AM call time. 3. March 9 miles down Colorado BLVD. while playing the fight song. 4. March all the way to the Rose Bowl. 5. Play pre-game. 6. Play the fight song every down. 7. Perform the 1/2-time show. 8. Play in an after-game show. 9. March to the buses and play it just once more. THEN YOU MAY BITCH.
Add the 4 miles from Siera Madre High school to the Rose Bowl. Many years the band has to walk all the way - faster than getting on the buses and getting stuck in Rose Bowl parking traffic.
um, blue band has the long practices too. Number 2: if you know you need to get on the bus at 2am DONT FUCKIN PARTY, are you stupid? Number 4 cant be correct. cause this year your buses left without a sousa player, so we had to take him to the rose bowl on one of our buses, and guess what, we treated him with respect, can't say that about anyone in USC's band. Then as for numbers 5-9......every band does that, even high schools. so i believe (based off of your name) you are the bitch.
One could debate this band's ability forever, but the fact remains that the juvineile behavior of its members is what I would expect from a bunch of fifth graders. When our buses pulled along side theirs in Disneyland, the only USC members who weren't flipping us off were mooning us. We had countless USC fans come up to us and tell us how much they hate their band. I have to say that the attitude of the USC commentators on this video pretty much confirms my view of this organization.

Then when the bands were off the buses the USC band had nothing but asshole comments for us. Best part of the trip though was seeing the USC band members who had thrown up on themselves at disneyland due to their hangover being dragged away by their band director.

USC is one of the best bands in California. There is nothing wrong with playing the fight song + Tribute to Troy. And If i don't say so myself, those songs are my favorite

Don't like it? Don't listen to it. USC has a music repertoire of about 20+ songs. Do I need to mention they're all memorized? At the begining of the Rose Parade and throughout both of the Universities represented in the RB march to their own Fight Song. USC TMB plays many more songs during the entire parade especialy when the parade traffic stops. You'll find plenty of examples here on YT. I suggest you get your own band and put them in the parade, see how many songs they can memorize.
Wow USC's band couldn't play or march for their life. The drumline was so dirty and the cadence was very basic. we play more notes in the first line of our cadence then they play in that 10 minute piece of shit excuse for a drum cadence. As a dance team the USC is great. Also tell that fat sousa in your band that next time he drops out of the rose parade the blue band won't be there to take his snickers eating ass to the game. Listen "Einstien" The reason is (if YOU dont know already) USC is the defending Pac 10 champs and as always the Pac 10 champ (no matter who wins the title) goes to the Rose Bowl to play against the Big 10 Rep it's a tradtion that has been going on for years! But if the Pac 10 team is either the top 2 teams in the nation then they go to the BCS title game . simple & easy and You are the one that has no bloody idea OF WHATS GOING ON and I should know... do you understand the point of them being in the rose parade for their football team and that all bands that ever go there play their fight song? You don't ever see usc, texas, michigan, or whoever else marching in the rose parade playing jingle bells or something.

It's not so much the repitition during the parade that's the problem, because every college band would play their fight song in the rose parade. It's the fact that during the game all they play is tribute to troy and fight on. It gets old. Every other college band I've heard has far more variety in their music.

FYI... first measure is played in it's regular style, second measure the song is played in a softer tone so the student section,Alumni & fans sing the lyrics to "Fight On", Third & final movment is played in a rousing cresendo finale!

Add the 4 miles from Siera Madre High school to the Rose Bowl. Many years the band has to walk all the way - faster than getting on the buses and getting stuck in Rose Bowl parking traffic.

Number 4 cant be correct. cause this year your buses left without a sousa player, so we had to take him to the rose bowl on one of our buses, and guess what, we treated him with respect, can't say that about anyone in USC's band. One could debate this band's ability forever, but the fact remains that the juvineile behavior of its members is what I would expect from a bunch of fifth graders. When our buses pulled along side theirs in Disneyland, the only USC members who weren't flipping us off were mooning us. We had countless USC fans come up to us and tell us how much they hate their band. I have to say that the attitude of the USC commentators on this video pretty much confirms my view of this organization.

Then when the bands were off the buses the USC band had nothing but asshole comments for us. Best part of the trip though was seeing the USC band members who had thrown up on themselves at disneyland due to their hangover being dragged away by their band director.

The band has absolute control over what they play. THEY PLAY IT! So don't make excuses for how bad they sound, or how stupid some of them are. I've lived in So Cal all my life and have seen this band perform at a lot of places, and not once have I seen a professional and mature performance out of this group. Banned from Disneyland for a year, can't fly on certain airlines anymore... on and on and on. So, is this the group you want representing your schools spirit???

USC is one of the best bands in California. There is nothing wrong with playing the fight song + Tribute to Troy. And If i don't say so myself, those songs are my favorite

Don't like it? Don't listen to it. USC has a music repertoire of about 20+ songs. Do I need to mention they're all memorized? At the begining of the Rose Parade and throughout both of the Universities represented in the RB march to their own Fight Song. USC TMB plays many more songs during the entire parade especialy when the parade traffic stops. You'll find plenty of examples here on YT. I suggest you get your own band and put them in the parade, see how many songs they can memorize.

Wow USC's band couldn't play or march for their life. The drumline was so dirty and the cadence was very basic. we play more notes in the first line of our cadence then they play in that 10 minute piece of shit excuse for a drum cadence. As a dance team the USC is great. Also tell that fat sousa in your band that next time he drops out of the rose parade the blue band won't be there to take his snickers eating ass to the game. But good job spirit of shit for leaving your own band member behind!!

i dont know shit? are you in a band? and one sousa couldn't make it through the entire parade, you'd think he'd be used to it cause USC never goes anywhere but the rose bowl. whats it like doing the same thing every year? and if you guys arent members of the usc marching band then you really should not be talking, cause you have no idea what you are talking about.

Listen "Einstien" The reason is (if YOU dont know already) USC is the defending Pac 10 champs and as always the Pac 10 champ (no matter who wins the title) goes to the Rose Bowl to play against the Big 10 Rep it's a tradtion that has been going on for years! But if the Pac 10 team is either the top 2 teams in the nation then they go to the BCS title game . simple & easy and You are the one that has no bloody idea OF WHATS GOING ON and I should know... I MARCHED IN THE ROSE PARADE IN 1989 & 1990!
