Who is better is not the issue. A guitar player should not pay so much attention to his fingers or have the instrument taking so much attention. Just play and enjoy it. And if someone else likes it too than you are in the right way.
Lo mejor de un concierto de Paco es el solo que toca al principio. Luego la banda, aunque le veo la gracia, no me emociona como Paco cuando toca solo.
OMG.. And they still dare call it flamenco... THI IS JUST "JAZZ".This is not flamenco anymore, perhaps it was at one time, but it was long ago, before all this crap with harmonica and flute wre introduced and feminine or gay gitano types who no longer can sing or dance. honestly, dont you have ears folks??? no pun intended, though.
Paco de Lucia is the only World Star of Flamenco. He was prepared for this from early age and worked very hard to achieve that, all respect for that. But when it comes to soulfull guitar playing he will never reach Nino Miguel especially por buleria..
@myonalicante so let´s talk al little bit business, I heard Paco for the first time in the 80 with his septet when I was living in London, I play flamenco guitar for about 15 years, my teacher was trained by Andre Batista and he met Paco and especially his brother quite often in the seventies when they came to frankfurt after the show to the pena los cavallos,
@myonalicante my jazz guitar teacher knows Paco from his first tour in germany with La Singla and Camaron in the sixries and even booked him for a show in a steel factory close to Limburg, an I know what he charged, I worked as a photografer for a flamenco magazine and write for about 5 years about concerts, and I saw a lot..
@myonalicante and it is a well known fact that Paco fall apart when he heard Nino Miguel play, he was shocked... and his father produced the first record of NIno Miguel, So my friend here is my advice: STOP LISTENING TO PACO AND OPEN YOUR HEART TO MUSIC AND NOT TO BIG NAMES; there is so much more to discover just listen have fun á compas
@rbraehler All you said is OK, I am a flamenco player too, and I 've listened to Niño Miguel's music, and for me is one of the greatest, and maybe he could have been much better that Paco (at the time he was on the top of his career he maybe was better), but he spoiled his career because of drugs, and that's why he has only 2 discos. How many discos Paco has? Who's been the guitarrist that has trully influenced our generation? Only one word: PACO
Did Paco "steal" any of Nino Miguel's musical ideas? I've heard some of his rumbas were based on Nino Miguel's original ideas. That said, I do think Paco has contributed a lot more, but what Nino Miguel's true potential was we'll never know. I do think at roughly the same young age, Paco was better all around.
@rbraehler We could keep talking for days about this but if you want my advice, you should take a look to this in youtube: "Paco de Lucia The Only True Innovator Of Flamenco Contemporary Guitar". It is a serie of 51 videos talking about this with a objective point of view. To sum up, I recommend you to listen his last record "Paco de Lucia LIVE", overall if you also play jazz. Regards!
