  • I think the CGI battle scene are amazing compeer

to the classic Battlestar galactica. Because they

use some expensive models. But this one is

so realistic then ever like they got some world war

footage. Well Battlestar galactica seasons are

    over. But is a classic

  • Stupid to add you own music, I wanted to see the battle as it was

  • I've always liked the battle scene in Resurrection Ship. Seeing the two battlestars take on the cylon base stars was awesome. Of coarse, when Pegasus saves Galactica at New Caprica...that's good to :)

  • Sweet! Stargate season premiere's on next

  • ah...know I now why there is only one galactica

  • Homeworld 3 has to be like this!

I always thought that BSG catch the essence of Homeworld battles, more turrets and artillery, less lasers

  • yeah im not a fan of "Troy" it was a horrible movie but even worse music :(

  • I wonder why galactica cant jump without retracting her flight pods.

  • LIke the part were there fire in space _-_

  • @MrJackdk well oxigen leaks into space hense fire in space. smoke would also be in space as carbon diaxide and burning mitarials. FIRE would happan in space aslong as it has fuel

and oxigen aparently is more easy to ignite as more presure in zero g :)

  • Dude this is awesome!

  • Damn. Now I'm going to have to go watch the entire series start to finish again.

  • FREAKING CYLONS!!!!!!! DAMMIT!!!

  • choosing cylons, 3 buttons, blk. demo

  • Very well edited if you ask me, and I love the Troy beach soundtrack

  • If the show had more of these scenes i would watch it

  • Admiral Cain frackin rules forever.

  • Usually I don't like it when people insert music into clips, but your choice for this scene is excellent.

  • is this the old battlestar gallactica??

  • @ bighed23 - No, it the new remake version

  • i wonder what would happend, if there was cylon ships waiting when the fleet is jumping, so the first they would see was, missiles

    lol xD

  • wtf is that ship at 4:30?

  • I think its like some comm relay or something, im not positive, the cylons used it as a staging area

  • it's an old and special cylon ship where they made experiences on humans during the first cylon war

  • thanks :P

  • that's a basestar seen from a different angle

  • are u finkin thn relay station, pegasus or the old cylon basestar

  • @SuperboyConnerKent

Toaster Fighter base so that they can defend an area without an basestar

  • @SuperboyConnerKent I remember that episode. They find an old style base star with one of the first hybrids aboard. It is the episode where that lady from Razor dies.

  • I thought it was an interesting show primarily due to the combat in space. That is until they decided to sacrifice the "Pegasus" utterly idiotic and unrealistic.

  • Well, do remember that the show is about the Battlestar GALACTICA, not the Pegasus. That's why the Pegasus was destroyed.

  • Can you just put the video up without the music, Jesus fucking Christ, it's like people are going out of there way to ruin clips.

  • Adding music is the whole point. Its a *Music* video, if i wanted to see these scenes without the music i'd just go watch the show.

  • @apollo967

nobody wants to see your poor editing skills. just post the original clip.

  • @apollo967 It's kinda nice to watch battle scenes without having to pop a dvd in and scramble through all dialog. That's all.

Everyone has their opinions: some enjoy the music videos, others think it ruins the clips. It's just unfortunate that music videos dominate youtube with little to no original clips available.

  • @apollo967 100% Agree! Thanks for your creativity and sharing! Do NOT be discourged by idiots who don't wanna buy the dvds and want to use youtube as a free movie channel. Friend request sent and I'm clicking the 'like' tab and subbing you.

  • @MrBoBoTom : Galactica's space battles are mostly soundless or very muffled, so what's the point? Besides the music is not like Lady Gaga's Pokerface or anything, but music from the series, so I fail to see how it ruins the clip either.

  • @MrBoBoTom

I agree, there should be a version with the original effects in, which people want to see when they search for this stuff.

  • in season 4 they just say we can handle it bevore the galactica would hit by at least 25 nuke's (adama wants every viper and the flag guns to target the missles that will hit the civil fleet) ADMIRAL WILLIAM ADAMA FOREVER!!!

  • Does anyone know why there's so many copyright claims on youtube; videos and/ or soundtracks getting removed? It's not like they're affecting record or video sales or anything. You'd think these muppets would realise that they're only being watched by fans and leave them the frack alone!

  • @thegreatchimp The decisions are made corporate bureaucrats who so lack any form of creativity that they suck the life out of the entity they are suppose to be nurturing. Know you know how Darth Vader felt when he would chock those stupid officers.

  • @bootsdog3 Hehe! Indeed.

  • great

  • It's a shame they couldn't save most of the Battlestars, give humanity a proper last stand before the Series. 8(

  • What is the music title ? i know its troy soundtrack but what is the exact title ?

  • Its "Achilles Leads The Myrmidons"

  • it is from the movie troy. its....ok . the soundtrack is not very good. it has a few momments here and there.

  • Why do the Colonial warriors not use missiles and the Cylons no projectile weapons?

  • Colonial fleet is using heavy cannons, they rarely use missles cos battlestar is more powerful and brutal, Baseship with missles got lot nukes so why he need turrets ? if he have missles and nukes

  • Thank you for your answer. Very interesting.

But the Vipers would be much dangerous, if they carried missiles, because those could pursuit the enemy.

  • actually, Vipers can carry nuclear missles, in Hub episode 12 think 4th season they used it to destroy hub, and there is type of Raptor that can carry missles which were used while battle for New Caprica

  • Thank you for your answer. Very interesting.

    But what does Hub mean?

  • Do you know ressurection ship ? it was ressurecting human-cylons when they died, when colonials destroyed Hub ANY cylon couldnt ressurect, dead forever

  • According to Wikipedia, the basestars rely on their massive complement of raiders. Even an old class like Galactica will trash a basestar in ship to ship combat. You can see it in the battles cenes; Galactica taking multiple hits and still holding together, wheras the Basestars start crumbling to bits like biscuits!

  • yea it takes multiple hits, bu ti has also point defence which takes about80% of all missles

  • i just say season 3 galactica wont shoot but 4 basestars firing at it with theyr full firepower and it doesnt eaven get hit hard enough to become an expolosive decompresion witch would destroy the ship like the pegasus

  • ps. i think without dmg the pegasus can easyli fly through a basestar XD they not eaven have point defence or a large armor

  • Yeh but Peggy gets hit by 2 nukes and holds up just fine so..

  • Does anyone know where I can find the pegasus shipyard scene without any added music?

  • do you mean the series music or the music people add in the back ground on here?

If you mean without any music, it is impossible, because it would mean removing the audio/speech aswell, as the music and other audio are all mixed in together and cannot be separated, unless you use very specialist equipment i believe.

  • I just mean the unaltered scene from the movie

without anything added or taken away.

  • sorry etimo for the vote... by mistake...

Stopmotionist... you are wrong totally. BSG battle scenes are the best space battle scenes i have ever seen. The camera is meant to be like that and is awesome. Everything is awesome

  • ha i agree with most of what u say there . love the camera work . love the battle scenes . but did u just say someones oppinion is wrong ?????!

  • @adam4evelyn yes I did :P He should look at the space battle in StarWars episode 3 and at the battles in BSG... but anyways, everyone has his oppinion. Even if you disagree, you must respect it. :P I am no troll

  • The battle scenes in the galactica series remake are the best space battle scenes in any movie or show i've seen. I'm amazed that they've got such vivid effects in a TV series. Hell, Star wars 2 was a movie and those effects were shitty compared to this. Sure the battle was bigger, but it was all cartoony, with the big ol empire ships that looked like sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their heads. This has gun turrets, missiles, smoke trails, muzzle flashes, ships buckling, explosions.

  • Nice vid dude, This is the Greatest tv-series ever !!!, and not only for sci-fi fans. it simply has everything and had me hooked since day one. cant wait for second half season 4!

  • Thats one is the best Battle vidio

  • damn.. Most DL the WHOLE shit !

  • Is this a Film or a Serie becuase ifs a Series then it UBER :D !

  • Its a series

  • WHat is that music?

  • Its from Troy

  • The music is from the film Troy, if my memory serves me right

  • music trom troy

  • what is the music?

  • OH MAN!!! What do u want from this?? That ships explode? This is the best movie i saw

  • Can u play this game 3d ?

    Looks kinda ql

  • Oh how I wish it were a game also...

  • There is a demo for a game called beyond the redline its free to download

  • I don't think it is a game...

  • It's a fanbased game build on the free Freespace 2 engine

  • uhhh no its not

  • Ohhh yeah sure. What is it then? official? made by who?

  • i was telling ranger that this vid is the show there is a mod to make into a game and there is a official game made by sierra

  • GREAT VIDEO BTW!

  • What's the music used in this video? Surely it's not from BSG, or then it gets better as the seasons advance...

  • Ah, just watched the end credits. Troy?

  • yep

  • I don't want you to think I am demeaning your efforts, in fact I think you did a good job of matching the music to the action. I just wish Hollywood would put a bit more science into their sci-fi films. The difficulties of a war in space could really be a dramatic part of such a movie.

  • Smoke and flames jet upward from hits, did the enemy shells penetrate the hull? Why did did the smoke drift upward? Why do the fighters attack in a mass? One nuke detonating in their midst and they are all toast. The "guns" look and work like 40mm Borfos AA guns from WW2. Is this the future or what?

  • Think man THINK!! If there are space ships it's sure that is future...

  • first of all nukes do not have as big explosions in space the megatons are dereased in space their no as strong and second the battle star only has a couple of them they are hard to find

3rd just because its the future it does not mean their are laser or crap like that its a show its not supposed to be outlandish its more real thats what a lot of people like its not farfetched the technology is within our grasp not some fucking laser

  • I think you misunderstand the physics of a nuclear explosion in space. The nuke still has a massive energy output, it simply doesnt have an atmosphere to push on, so the shockwave is purely from the force of the energy of the nuke itself. It still makes a big bang, and the radiation it unleashes is still intense, and reacts violently with solid matter, just like atmosphere detonations. In addition, since there is no atmosphere and no water vapor to absorb the radiation, the radiation is stronger

  • I'm only now seeing BG as I do not have access to cable TV. The stories are good and the acting is fine. The battles are as unrealistic as they were in 1980. The ships fight too close together in 18th century style. The fighters are too small. The explosions indicate that oxygen is present. The laws of gravity don't seem to apply.

  • While all of this is true... its a tv show, not a space combat documentary... I think the combat scenes look awesome. There exciting and surely thats the point?

  • Yes, no doubt about it, the show is exciting!

  • You're being unrealistic. Yes, the fighters are too close together, but why shouldn't there be oxygen? I always thought that the pilots had...er...LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS. What's that about gravity?

  • There shouldn't be MASSIVE explosions from little ships. The oxygen system is contained in the pilot's suit and what ever happens to be in the cockpit.

    Also, smoke-trails in space?

  • The explosions aren't "MASSIVE", they're the same size as the ships themselves. Assuming that they're carrying enough oxygen and fuel for one hour of flight(and I'm being incredibly generous), there's more than enough to make explosions of that size.

The smoke trails are particulate, not gaseous. No problem there.

  • Interesting camera views on this show.

  • I like how they make it look like you where filming it for instane on one shot your watching as a cylon raiding party boat crashes into Galactica the camera pans past it for a second then corrects itself, like would happen if you where filming it with a camera, because we all know that humans can't stop in an instant because of the law of momentum and the slowness of our reflexes (yes that last bit is pointless, but I have recieved comments from those lacking in intellegence, no need to risk it)

  • Personally, I hate the camera wibbling all over the place. It looks like a drunk guy's home video. Even if you happen to like that kind of thing, it's extremely UNrealistic. Unless this show takes place underwater, a spaceship would not leave a "wake" for the camera to churn in, which seems to be the case for most of these unnecessary motions.

  • Try filming someone running and have them stop abruptly at a random time, your camera will pan past him. They make it look like a human is filming it, which makes it realistic. Not like the camera is just floating around in space. like you seem to think.

  • Half of the time, though, it isn't even panning. It'll just be floating there, and a ship will pass, and it'll jerk all around for no reason. Anyway, if it was an actual person filming it(me, for example), I can guarantee that they'd be able to stop moving the camera a lot quicker than this. It's not like they're swinging it at arm's length or anything.

  • That's probably true. But we can both agree on this, the special effects are freaking amazing, right?

  • Quite. Better than Star Wars(as are the physics).

    We're happy!

  • Sad part is the last movie of Star Wars was ENTIRELY Green Screened, then this show came, with less bugdet and shot their Special effects to hell, I'm happy for that. (I like the original Star Wars, not the prequels)

  • WHHAATTT its a T.V show, get over this unrealistic bull crap, its a tv show set somewhere else with giant space ships and evil robots, and you telling me the camera is unrealistic ... ... ... ... ... enjoy life, dont pick at every litte detail.

  • The problem isn't that the camera is "unrealistic" - it's that it's just stupid and annoying. This is a space war, not the Blair Witch Project. Anyway, I thought that I was done talking about this.

  • the idea was made that each camera angle is filed froma raptor or ship in a battle tracking it

the camers are on ships watch the directors talk about it

  • So the ships are made of Jell-O? The excessive wiggling would imply that.

  • no the idea is that theres a cameraman in a ship or one mounted that moves and adjust to get the angle

  • I thought that we already discussed this.

    *sighs*

You'd have to have Cerebral Palsy for the camera to pan all over the place like that. I could move a camera better than that. It's not like it's being swung at arm's length or anything.

  • you re in a space suit or whatever or in the middle of a dog fight and in zero g yeah you can hold the camera pefect

  • This is pointless. I'm not going to go into a stupid discussion about how the camera moves. My original point was that the constant jiggling really detracted from the actual scenes. Viewers should have a good view of the action.

  • it makes it epic and chaotic not a smooth sailing thing it gives off the feeling of life or death of mixed emotions and concentration

anyways check out my music vid for bsg

  • Firstly, a camera is VERY difficult to hold still when you're moving around, because of the momentum and inertia involved. Even with a stabilizer you'd be lucky to get any good still shots at all.

Second, the camera moves around like that to give a realistic impression of this effect, to immerse you in the battle and make you feel as though you are in the fight, being shaken around by the cataclysmic forces at work, not just a casual observer watching a tv show and not directly feeling it.

  • Firstly, the battles in BSG are completely computer-generated. Hence, no inertia. What are you getting at, anyway? Starbuck's holding the camera? It's obvious that the "camera" (as it's computer-generated) isn't actually mounted on anything - it's just floating in space.

  • Second, I'm sure that both you and I are able to keep our eyes trained on objects' paths even if they are somewhat erratic. I wouldn't follow a hit Viper's collision course into a Basestar and miss the explosion because my eyes were still moving. And I wouldn't take over a second to get my eyes trained on where it had been. So, if I was "in the fight", I would get a completely different (and much smoother) view of the action anyway.

  • Third, and, perhaps, most importantly, IT DOESN'T LOOK GOOD. There's a reason that you don't see this stuff anywhere else - it makes it harder to follow the action. It's like listening to music while cranking the volume up and down rapidly. Why do people try to defend it (especially with arguments like "it makes it epic and chaotic not a smooth sailing thing")?

  • IMO, a much better way to convey the effect that the makers were probably going for would be to have the whole shot jolt or shake during explosions and impacts, rather than waving the viewpoint all over the place.

By the way, I think that a Viper's maneuvers hardly count as "cataclysmic forces".

  • so the CGI graphics make in have no inertia. I dont see you saying that about star wars, star trek, babylon 5, and countless others. If you dont like it, it's simple, piss off and dont waste other people's time. If you really want to make it into an argument over youtube that is sad. this is for people to post what they like, enjoy watching and generally want to try and be involved with.

And yeah, the style might not suit you. But woudl you have a camera tripod in space. I dont think so.

  • Yeah, of course there wouldn't be a tripod in space. Why would there be one?

My point was that it's distracting and annoying that the camera wiggles everywhere when a spaceship moves. You don't see that in Star Wars, or Star Trek, or Babylon 5, or Firefly, or Stargate, or ANY OTHER TV SHOW. No amount of garbage like "STARBUK HODING THE CAMRA AND TEH SHIPZ ARE MOVIG" changes the fact that the production crew AREN'T IN THE SHIPS, and the camera wouldnt' move like that even if they WERE.

  • Besides, there are POV shots from inside the ships' cockpits anyway. And they're more stable than anything else in the show.

  • um... Firefly does do that. It was one of the key aspects of the CGI shots that they liked.

  • Oops. My bad.

  • I believe the camera moving makes you feel like your in the battle as well which is cool in my opinion i don't see why its such a big F*cking deal anyway

  • It isn't one, but if you say that it looks stupid a bunch of fantards jump on you.

  • just awesome!

  • very nice vid. Maybe add some more s3 clips tho at tht show gal all damaged etc s there so mny of her in good condition earlier in the vid.

  • What you did at 6:15 felt good.

    Thanks from western NYC.
