@warddraw4 (Part 2) Black belts just have more training and are taught more targeting options and sequencing for striking. We have the option to subdue without maiming. In all a black belt compared to a white belt is partially based on skill, form and techniques learned but largely has to do with the mindset of the practitioner. This was a good question. @warddraw4 It isn't that we can do something you can't, it's that we have been trained to do things you haven't been trained to do. It's true that there isn't much needed beyond the basics to be effective, however, those that train longer and refine the basics are able to you use the basics more effectively and with less risk of causing injury to self (in most cases). Also, more advanced techniques gives us other options than just bludgeoning someone until they stop trying to hurt us.

@Tracer564 dude, you seem to have missed the point. he's teaching a boxing technique for self defense! hanging on your attacker like that will not just get your crotch worked over, it sets you up for a mauy thai clinch, so instead on one vital area getting hit, your openning your whole torso and head to multible knee strikes. THATS THE POINT!

This is BS. In Karate there is no such thing as a "clinch". You gonna take the guy out with one shot. You don't have to clinch because the fight should last no longer than 5 seconds before someone is either dead or crippled for life.

what the..? A clinch is not a good place to rest against MMA or Muay Thai fighters. Clinch with those kind of fighters and you wlll find out very quickly that it is where the real fight begins. Clinch work burns a lot of energy and requires a lot of technique. Can also be dengerous to clinch with a guy who is better than you.

This is very true. A lot of stuff goes on in the clinch that not to many see or appreciate. You can wear down a smaller, weaker opponent by allowing your body mass to smother them. Tyson got pissed when Hollyfield used his size to tangle him up, frustrating him and exhausting him. Good vid.
