I know this is old and you've probably sold the Flip by now but I much, much, MUCH prefer the Flip video in this video to all the other camera sources. It's brighter, has better audio quality, and is more smooth.
?Sanyo exati? , if you were to buy a new camera 2day which would you buy? I need a new camera do you recommend the sanyo today for me to buy what was the price how many pixels whats the top camera these days @ a reasonable price$ ???
This was great. I bet you didn't realize how much additional work you were making for yourself every time you averted your gaze from one camera to another.
Adam Kudos for the editing nightmare you had with making this. I think that the "Ztec" I hope that I wrote it correct is garbage. I have a box of VCR's I need to get them made into dvd.s you want to make some money? I'll send them to you to make into dvd's would you have time, and quote me what you want to be paid? I could buy the blanks (which btw I should find out the best blank dvd's for my computer what do you recommend.
The flip camera seems the best in this video. The Xacti tends to be the most popular option as it offers the most features. If you just use that, we'll get a HD option on YouTube, so much better quality :)
Witch flip do you have. I think it's the best. and the sounds not echoy. thanks. I bought the xacti and I'm very disapionted cg 10. everything looks yellow and unclear...I can't decide on the regular or the hd. and the mino sound suckes so I wanna get the old one. HM...
Adam, i heard you on Alfreds webcast, taking about the sync of the video, there is an app for the ipod called islate, its a digital clapper, you could ofcourse use the clock on the phone, but this looks more pro and fun :-)
You are using imovie 06? I guess if your use to something you tend not to want to change. Look forward to see the edited movies done with Final Cut Express. I use imovie 09 which is night and day with imovie 08. Great videos as always.
The Flip is great, it's just been outclassed in my collection by the new Sanyo, so I don't really need it anymore. The iSight is built in and meant primarily for web chatting. The lens might need cleaning, though...
:O and damage a beautiful MacBook? It's not designed for youtube, it's for skype and the like, and it is great for this purpose. I know because I am on skype for about 8 hours a day.
I think your tape camera was the best overall... the Flip looked great with enough light / fixed focus... but the tape was definitely better than all the rest.
This was done (like all my movies) in iMovie HD (aka '06). I also used a spreadsheet to build my edit list, frame by frame... If I want to get more advanced, I'll probably skip the newest iMovies, go straight to Final Cut Express.
Like you wouldn't believe. The 1st 4 hours were me just coming up with a method (spreadsheet with 1 row for each second, 30 cols for the frames, watching each track many times, picking edit points, etc.), the last 6 (all today) cutting and re-cutting and reassembling the pieces. Fixing mis-aligned frames (Frigging Aiptek, off by 5 frames, every clip had to be re-done), trimming frames duped from one to the next. I had odd math-related issues from my spreadsheet, all sorts of stuff. Not again....
Cool video! If you are gonna start using the Sanyo in the future (which I would recommend) export it in 16:9 so we don't get so much letterboxing. That was a great comparison of how much cameras depend on preferences - I'm amazed at how different the results were and how light the Flip was
I will. It's just that here I had four 4:3 tracks and only the one 16:9. I decided to allow iMovie to shrink down the one track rather than expand the other four.
Yeah, does make it a bit easier. Quite an editing feat, though! You seemed to match it up perfectly! Did you switch audio and video every time or did you keep an audio track going?
I thought about using one camera's audio all the way through (actually that would have been helpful in editing, anchoring frames to my dialog), but I decided if I'm comparing them all, I might as well do the audio as well as the video.
No, the Flip is great, for what it is. No optical zoom, no removable storage. Those factors make it less that perfect for me and what I might like to record. Look at my "55 Seconds of the Goodyear Blimp" video. I shot that with the Flip, and I really could have used a zoom there.
nice video... even though you have too many cameras, they're all crap.. make a good investment and buy a HDV camera! those puppies are AMAZING!

Adam, do any of these cameras accept a line in for audio (so you can run the output of a mixer into the camera's audio in) ?

Haha I just caught the joke of why the intro has what sounds like a Borg Collective saying "This Is AdamB"
