I never tire watching this clip.Ric owned that whole room when he was rollin.Notice how they all go silent when he says "Starccade 87,Chi Town heat. And Tony Shiavone, lets not forget. That the night before..."And the crowd goes wild7
I LOL'ed when Flair dropped the "New York, the Bright LIghts! The Big CIty!" rap about a PPV in Utica, NY which is about 5 and a half hours from NYC in the middle of the sticks.
The best part about Ric Flairs Promos is that he Actually believed what he said lol this is is one of the best I've seen. You know Nature boy is serious when he takes his shades off like that lol
That promo about taking over NY & the NWA are the best was a clear shot at the WWE the the WWf at the time cause the NWA did have the better in ring product in the 1980s..
If Vince McMahon paid you millions after you wrestled for a different promotion all your life, if he told you to say the WWE is the best of all time, you would say it too.
I've lost count the number of times i've watched this and many other ric flair promos on you tube & you know what it never ever gets tired, We ARREE We ARREE!! Ric Flair i salute you sri you are G.O.A.T & to anyone who disagrees you are too easily pleased.
@danteras23 the job of a wrestler, especially the top wrestler in a promotion, is to prop up the company you work for...which in turn makes you look better because you work for the best company. How much sense would it make for flair to say yeah i'm the best wrestler in this 2nd rate promotion. No, he had to shill for whatever company he was in at the time.
it's sad to watch this promo and then hear flair shill for the wwf in his later years because vince mcmahon was signing his paychecks. the man is and always was a two-faced phony kiss ass. he spent his career trying to beat and bring down the wwf/e and then became a sell out. i never minded him working for the wwf/e, but hearing him call them the "the greatest wrestling company in the world" was always a bit much to take.
Okay, this is not only the greatest Ric Flair promo I've ever seen, but probably the greatest wrestling promo ever! If you want to be a professional wrestler, you will faily if you do not study, memorize, and emulate this man and this promo!
Back in the day when NWA had a WCW show...well the show was World Championship Wrestling before it became a seperate company...this brings back many memories.
Flair won the NWA World's Heavyweight Title back from Ronnie Garvin that night. And he was cheered like crazy, even though he was supposed to be the heel. I was fortunate enough to see this match on closed-circuit at The Scope in Norfolk, VA. Sadly, this began the demise of Jim Crockett Promotions as we knew it. He should have kept it in Greensboro and Atlanta. Even though they did have a lower-tiered card in Greensboro and New Orleans that night.
As great as this promo was you probably would have been lucky to get to see Starrcade 87 at home. WWF decided to air the first ever Survivor Series on Thanksgiving as well. Jim Crockett not wanting to go head to head with Vince offered to move Starrcade 87 to the afternoon. Vince would have none of that. He said any company that aired this pay per view would not get Surivor Series or the next Wrestlemania. Vince was doing better numbers and got most providers.
He is right you clueless DA thats the reason Chicago was a bad town for NWA/WCW for years after that. The RW should have gone over clean. But you are to much of a dumb MF to understand this.
This almost sounds like a challenge to vinnie lol
