it's sad to watch this promo and then hear flair shill for the wwf in his later years because vince mcmahon was signing his paychecks. the man is and always was a two-faced phony kiss ass. he spent his career trying to beat and bring down the wwf/e and then became a sell out. i never minded him working for the wwf/e, but hearing him call them the "the greatest wrestling company in the world" was always a bit much to take.

Flair won the NWA World's Heavyweight Title back from Ronnie Garvin that night. And he was cheered like crazy, even though he was supposed to be the heel. I was fortunate enough to see this match on closed-circuit at The Scope in Norfolk, VA. Sadly, this began the demise of Jim Crockett Promotions as we knew it. He should have kept it in Greensboro and Atlanta. Even though they did have a lower-tiered card in Greensboro and New Orleans that night.

As great as this promo was you probably would have been lucky to get to see Starrcade 87 at home. WWF decided to air the first ever Survivor Series on Thanksgiving as well. Jim Crockett not wanting to go head to head with Vince offered to move Starrcade 87 to the afternoon. Vince would have none of that. He said any company that aired this pay per view would not get Surivor Series or the next Wrestlemania. Vince was doing better numbers and got most providers.
