In my opinion, these question videos are getting to be a bit too much at this point. My subscription page is flooded with your videos. Well, I guess everyone has their own ways of catching up on their subscriptions. But keep in mind, this is just what I think, and everyone has their own opinion.

Hmmm, I personally like landscapes and stars as backgrounds for things. I don't quite dig the minimalistic design, it's kinda bland. I like backgrounds like the one I made for my channel. You could check it out it you want. It's not that distracting to the viewers watching my videos. I don't think it's overly cluttered like some YouTube backgrounds are and at the same time it's not as minimalistic as David's. Let me put it this way, we'd all rather have a nice view in our window rather than a b

This is basically what Apple trys to do, but not with there design of there YouTube channel and products, in there software and everything else they do. There always making things simple, easy and immaculate.

I think minimalism has its time and place, but I also think sometimes it can appear too generic and can lack character and creativity.

Many designs of the websites that you've done (which many look like basic themes with some buttons that it looks like you've done) and other things look extremely easy to do, literally taking less than 2 mins for each image file, I can do those designs on my PC, why did you choose to go to school to do such simplistic designs? I'm not saying they're bad at all or anything like that, it's just that should going the simplistic route even require school?

When it comes too in the design field keeping things simple is not bad and great design should be little, and smooth. I feel even when it comes to logos it should look simple in your own way so I think your background is good.

@designedbyappleincal I'm going for something unique in terms of TekSocial's logo. I don't care about the current trend, at the moment. I know what you mean, though. It's certainly not a traditional font. It's a risk I am willing to take – at least for a little while.

you failed to mention that there is such thing as bad simplicity. There are several people in graphic design who just default to helvetica and a white background to make a simplistic design. When your design is just Helevetica Neue Ultra light with a white background, it can look like complete shit. I think your channel design is a little poor, (the gradient is kinda horird) but overall it's a fine design.

@thecreativeone im not saying its not good, sometimes following grids and alignment doesn't make it better. Asymmetry and "thinking outside the box" can aid in the overall aesthetic and appeal of a piece

@thecreativeone minimalism is my favourite kind of art, and im not knocking your work in anyway, all im stating is that when minimalism is done correctly it is amazing, but if done poorly it looks cheap. My statement is not in relation to you work just appears that way through the context of the video. Love your vids :)

To be honest there is such thing as simplistic, and not skilled. A skilled artist will be able to do simplicity, while the audience instantly recognizes that it is a simplistic theme, where as sometimes simplicity can look "cheap" and that the artist didn't have enough skill, or patience, to create a fullfilled piece of artwork

When I was in college studying design my teachers would also bump down my grade when I chose a simplistic design instead of one that was an example of all the features of ps compiled into one piece. It was very annoying to have a professor with no vision. But look at me now Dr. Dickhead.
