  • The aggressive Honeyghan really brought the fight to Curry on this particular night. Curry, the master craftsman and technician, was not used to a street fight. But all of U folks on here who are questioning Curry's caliber and status as a pure boxer obviously don't know much about him or, boxing at all, for that matter. Clearly, Curry was the much more technically sound and purer technical fighter; Honeyghan, obviously, had an aggressive style that worked in his favor

  • Thanks for posting. This fight was never shown in the UK, so I've never seen it before.

Wow, Lloyd really gave the overrated Curry a beating!

  • I thought this curry guy was suppose to be good...lol

  • ring rust my arse! the best man gave curry a lesson

  • I saw Honey fight quite a few times in UK before this fight and he was good, no doubt about it. But this was his best performance by a mile. He always had skills and was difficult to fight against but on this night he seemed to have much more power in his shots than before. Great performance.

  • This had all the elements of an upset. Underdog came in with more focus, energy and HUNGER. Curry was rusty from inactivity and a bit weak from making weight. Honeyghan was a good fighter, who had a GREAT night. Curry lost to a hungrier fighter. The commentators are all the same, they were in shock that the better man was getting beaten. Simple as that.

  • Love Lloyd very entertaining

  • @carryontalking problem curry had that night was he under estimated lloyd honeygan and was not properly prepared for the fight he needed another gear which just was'nt there . thanks for commenting on my post

  • lol how biased are the commentators saying hes hurt when he wasnt.

  • something was missing with curry that night on another night he would have beaten honeygan was A good win 4 honeygan but it was against weight drained out of sorts don curry

  • I don't think the American commentators disliked Honeyghan, they were mostly just in shock that he was whipping Curry, who at the time was arguably the best fighter in the world pound for pound. It seemed so unlikely, so they were looking for answers. At the end of the third, Gil Clancy was definitely giving him credit, as he did at the end of the fight.

  • What a fucking right that was.

Remember watching this fight first time around when i was a nipper.

    Brilliant

DC thought he'd win just by turning up, as did the commentators and probably 99% of the crowd. Then Lloyd catches him twice, busts his lip, and suddenly DC must be "ring rusty".

    Yeah... that must be it...

  • Honey fought the fight of his life that night. He was superb. Curry was arguably the PFP fighter in the world at that moment in time.

  • curry looks just like zab judah

  • @TheGatorfan93 honneyghan looks much bigger than judah he looks 158-165 here.judahs a small 147pounder.

  • I forgot about this fight. I watched it on TV and couldn't believe it. I'd heard of Honeyghan and knew he was good because I subscribed to the boxing mags of the day (Ring, KO) but still, I was stunned. He totally overwhelmed Curry from the start. Gotta' be one of the biggest wins ever by a British fighter. Great performance by Lloyd.

As for Britons complaining about the announcers' bias, few announcers are more biased than Harry Carpenter. That dude was ridiculous (see Palomino vs. Green).

  • honnehgan would beat mayweather on this form.

  • What did the pro Curry commentator see in that round,he kept saying he hurt him when he didn't.Making excuses about ring rust and calling a no existant low blow-total mug couldn't handle the hyped up Curry taking a beating from a brit.

  • WOW!

Not only had Curry never lost aa FIGHT before this; I suspect he rarely (if ever) lost a ROUND in any previous fight. Here (so far), hes lost at least th first 2, if not all 3 rounds.

He must be thinking: "Who IS this guy? Doesnt he know WHO I AM?"

  • Nah i like Mayweather,he`ll burst the Pacquiao bubble if Cotto doesn`t first!!!

  • Was it after this fight that Curry moved up to jr middleweight?

  • Cold not belive this fight at the time .Never thought Honeyghan would have won this fight in a million years but he kicked his ares fare and square.

Best performance buy any british fighter winning a world tittle. And in that Sates also.Big Big win.Still big to this day 23 years later.

  • @kc1973able lol man my DAD just said the same thing 12 mins ago. Well on the other side, we're English.

  • Ha,haa,Right on mate.

  • Best performance buy any British fighter ever!!! Man this to me is the biggest upset in my boxing fan life.

  • Great listening to them two cocks commentating, english fainting fighters ...fuck off

  • honeyghan use to box for fisher,

    my club!!!

  • Come on. That's no slam on Honeyghan.

    Starling was damn good.

  • You're talking rubbish!!!!!!!

  • What an upset.

Honeyghan gave it to the American.

  • This is the thing about taking a night off. It will last for ever in tapes.

  • Curry was suppost to be one of the best p4p fighters in the world at that time. Honeyghan was a bad man on his day!...And this was his day!

  • Right on.

Who would have thought this would happen?

This was 10times bigger than Nigel Benn v McClellan.

  • your entitled to your opinion, whats Curry doing these days training fighters or......?

  • fair enough, but lets be honest Curry ouldnt of beat Honeyghan in a month of sundays

  • One of the best performances by a British fighter. Honeyghan was so sharp, so impressive it was almost as surprising when not very long after he was beaten too.

  • Yeah Currys camp were like durr whats this limey on about?Mongooses kill Cobras. They didn`t suss it out until Curry got his arse kicked to fuck.

  • listen to the commentators making excuses like they cant understand a british fighter could be so good

  • No kidding...

  • honnegan would beat mayweather, judah, hatton all welterweights

he was the real deal man!

  • err hang on mate, lets start with Judah,at his peak don`t know,Mayweather, adaptable fighter, he can end fights clinicly as against Hatton with a left hook i remember Don Curry had against Milton Mcrory,Honeyghan was lucky that one wasn`t on his chin, lets be honest. But Honeyghan would`ve given Mayweather more to deal with definately and yeah probably done a Curry on him all the same.

  • Honnegan wasn't much of the real deal against Marlon Starling. And by the way, he wouldn't have beaten Floyd Mayweather (the welterweight Felix Trinidad would have whipped him too)

  • Marlon who?Well on that showing up on this vid he would`ve beat Starling no doubt.Mayweather i reckon would`ve slipped a lot of Honeyghans shots but Honeyghan would`ve got him at some piont and stopped him aswell.

  • I've got one thing to say to you: '8 World champs' go the GB.

  • Mike 'I'm so going to get the punk who put a tattoo on my face' Tyson is greatest fighter p4p.

    Thanks for great video:)

  • No he isn't.

  • CHRISKARALLIS: Hi:) Did you at least like my dumb tattoo joke?

    God Bless You:)

  • ...my sides are still aching ;-)

  • God Honeyghan could fight,he blasted out the mandatory challeger johnny Bumphus in 2 or 3 rounds. All this talk of Curry couldn`t make the weight,Honeyghan hurt his hand in that fight so the handicaps were even.

  • Great to hear the Yank commentators carping on about how bad British fighters are and Honeyghan then kicks Curry's butt from one corner of the ring to the other. Love it!

  • Round 2:Faster englishman shook often Curry.

Round 3:Honeyghan confuses Curry with infighting.
