I have searched youtube far and wide for the most beautiful original solo guitar pieces. This one has to be one of the best there is along with Michael Dowdle's Where the River Bends. Great music! Keep it coming!
Happy Thanksgiving Adam and thanks for another beautiful composition. I played America at my last gig and people love that song. I always credit you and encourage the audience to check out your website. The best way to spread the word, I think.
Wow, that is a beautiful composition Adam. Not sure how I missed it before.
Came here to check it out after rcving the TAB on TG'ing day.
A very nice open, ringing flatpicked tune. Very clear melody pops out over the arpegios, which is a nice touch. Plus, It does not look as hard to learn as I Wish! :)
Such a gorgeous piece Adam. I'm a new subscriber to your music and really like this one. I think it is my favorite original but your Jackson arrangements are super cool too!
Just found your page.. I still have chills. I have turned to Youtube for real music, and I am always beside myself with the talent found here. It is such a nice respite from all of the main stream stuff. Your talent and guitar sing like angels.. Thank you for sharing.. this piece is just fantastic!!
@jeanmarc81300 Pretty sure mr. Adam Rafferty didn`t wake up one morning with this "gift". It`s minutes, hours, days, months and years of practice. I truly envy mr. Rafferty`s persistency and his ability to express him self through music. Bravo!
@TheBlueSnake There will be a SERIOUS lesson. However - a week ago I spilled a coffee onto my mac, I am awaiting repair status....as soon as I have a machine that is up & running, the lesson will become a project!!!
Hey Adam! I'm recovered from my bout with illness and ready to start kicking butt again... just got here for a little inspiration, and my friend you delivered in spades as usual... Never got a chance to tell you what I think of Simplicity... first, the TITLE is perfect. Such a simple melody, I am surprised the world hasn't discovered it before this -- but I thank the REAL Bigdood upstairs that you did. Looking forward to seeing you again at CAAS in July... Peace and health in your travels!
@bigdood Brother Dood, glad 2 see you back in the mix!! Thanks my man. You were the original YT AR fan, will always be appreciated & remembered!!! See you in July.....
Wow, what a beautiful and sublime piece of music. And as always the performance is flawless. Wonderful. What music is all about. Thanks (again!) for the inspiration...
You have got to be missing out big time !! - Please Adam - there has got to be a way to get ahold of your products in a user friendly manner - my frigging god !!! iow - I just want to order some of your products Adam sir . . !? -
This is the first time I've heard of the "Tall Fiddler" tuning. I never thought of dropping the A string down to a G. I like how minimal this piece is. I've been composing my own fingerstyle arrangements for a little over a year now and I've learned that less is truly more. I tend to over-stuff my compositions with needless noodling. It really is all about the melody.
@DudeWheresMyDeLorean Thanks man! I think the tuning has a real name actually :-) Yep, go for melody first, then noodles support the main melody! There will be a lesson on this coming soon.
Adam, wow... great combination of soothing melodies and ballsy lines. All with that wonderful open string sound. It just keeps getting better. Thanks as always for the inspiration.
Soooooooooo sorry Adam, really can't say that I don't like it, someone ought to be saying negative things cause they can't match your clean, easy and accomplished technique, well you make it look oh so simple dude! just love all you play & you wear that cheeky knowing smile that say's CRACKED IT! Power to the pinky fella!
Man that sounds amazing, I like the fatness of the sound. Why don't you use the reverb in the H4? Is it of the quality of the reverb or is it something else?
Adam, beautiful song, beautifully played. Watching and listening to you play has encouraged me to start playing my guitar again after a period where it gathered dust!
Seldom do you hear playing of this quality, would love to hear you play live if you ever come to the UK.

you never fail to impress or inspire me to continue getting better at guitar. Thank you for all your material! I'm sure it has helped countless others and myself reach a new level with their guitars :-) Your a real blessing!
Nice job Adam alway a pleasure to listen to somebody who plays so effortlessly and I can tell why. Lots of practice, discipline and enjoying what your doing.
Dude, no never cease to amaze me! I`d like to compliment you on the way you are able to make on e really listen! I dunno how you do it, but i suspect it has something to do with the sencitivity in your playing. Seems almost as if you knowingly play at low/moderate volume to bring out the soundqualities you want, and while at it making us really listen! :-)
Again Mr R, thnx! And, get your ass to norway! :-)
That was a beautiful song, Adam. The recording was top drawer too.
I gotta ask, what kind of a pick are you using? You're normally picking with your fingers but I noticed you played this with a pick. It looks like a small novel you're picking with ;-) Is it a Wegen?
@crescentridge - it was the rounded corners that had me thinking otherwise. The one thing I noticed was how silent the picking was. Unless you EQ'd it out, that pick makes virtually no noise on the strings when you pick.
Great! I'm going to see Tommy here in Helsinki this coming thursday in the house of culture where I saw you and Tommy just about two years ago! Can't believe it's been so long already, feels like yesterday :)
Again - enjoyable! Always glad to see new stuff from you! Unlike a few others I really enjoy your expression when youre playing. Let´s me know you feel the music :)
Brought more than a ray of sunshine to my day! Love it Mr Rafferty. I'm always longing to see new contributions from you. God Bless you for sharing so much with us! Brad (New Zealand)
Also I forgot to say how much I love this Tommy's inspired composition. Amazing stuff and one that I will sure have to learn soon! Good luck with tour and hope you get to UK sometime too!
Adam I know what a great player you are and love every bit of your work and skills here as usual...But one thing I mostly am impressed in this video is quality of recording sound....Did the hour spent with sound engineers mastering your CD helped I wonder.... Any tips from youtuber how to get close to your sound here??? Would love to hear. Of course I know i won't be able ever to play like you do so no tricks there!

@gfilip Here's the secret...I did a podcast on this, but have not lauched the podcast.
1) Practice the piece sufficiently now the technical stuff...
2) I use an H4, so I have 2 inputs
3) I used to use 2 mics...now I use one line in stright from the guitar and one mic
4) Split the signal into 2 mono tracks using "audacity" or other free software
5) blend the two in Garage Band, reverb, eq, compression (and fixes if needed - I took a few squeaks out)
Good luck!
