This is one of the few exceptions where the sequel was superior to the original. It had better graphics, less looking around, much more fun. It may have been B&W, but nobody in 1992 cared. How else can you explain the massive popularity of gamebody, and that it actually surpassed the original NES? Classic games live forever.

it never seemed to me that there were a lot of good Game Boy games--it's not like I was going on a lot of plane rides as a kid or anything, I didn't need a portable system, and it was so weak compared to the NES

@Jac2Mac If I had to guess it would be that nintendo was already gearing up for the Super Nintendo, maybe a sequel for the NES wasn't on their list of top prorities. But, it is odd that, given its success, that it would be given a sequel 7 years later. Who knows?
