  • I just started this song. You seem to get it with a great tone as well! Its a bit more tricky than straight up traivs pickn I'm finding. The timing.

  • Very very beautifully played!

    Compliments from Holland.

Do you know where I can find the tabs if it. Love this song, will take many hours of practice to come to your level!!

    Mike farrell from the UK.

  • you did such a great job of this tune, ive gotta get me one f those godin guitars cos they are great for picking

  • hi tom i listened to your version again of struttin close your eyes and its chet thx for info on your sound but what make and brand sound card are you using chet;;; err i mean tom

  • Thanks for the nice words ... I'm using a cheap Behringer mixer and the soundcard is a 'Mia' by Echo Audio. Are you a member of the TE forum perchance? You're in Australia and play an AER amp, that's why I ask :)

    Tom

  • hitom no im notbut i should be i play thruogh 2 60w aer amps through the mackie desk front of house powered 450w either side i try and get that bottom end im a tommy chet doyle nut and play struttin but cant seem to get the sound your multiac sounds great i got mine 2 wks ago i have a nylon gibson too which sounds just like chet when i play happy again

  • and tom thankyou so much for the info david

  • i have a godin multiac nylon string but it sounds nothing like yours my sound is very twangy and i'm playing through an aer amp 60watts i have been trying to get a good sound like yours and chets how do you get it? great playing keep up the great work.

  • Hi, I'm plugged straight into a mixer then into the computer sound card. I put some EQ, compression and reverb on the recording, but the raw sound is not twangy. Have you played with the EQ controls on the guitar and the mid-range switch? You might find a sound more to your liking that way. The AER amps are very neutral, so I'm guessing the amp is not degrading your sound. -- Tom

  • You really ought to do a don't think twice its alright.

  • Id really love some tab for this!

    You play it amazingly!!

  • For a young guy, you sound very smooth and clean. I love your style.

  • Awesome!!!

Your guitar is almost the same guitar that Buster B Jones has.

  • I cant close my eyes every time I do I think its Chet playing you have a God given talent my friend and ole Mr Chet would be proud to hear some one with your talent play

  • Thanks for the great compliment, you made my day!

  • nice

  • love your sound, nylon strings are so velvety sounding. love this style!

  • Well played. I love the tome of your guitar. What kind is it?

  • Great job but can you please tell me what is the guitar you are playing and the kind of amp you are useingand maybe the settings on the amp

  • Thanks for the comment. The guitar is a Godin Multiac Nylon SA. It's plugged directly into a mixer -- no amp.

  • Just awesome! Say no more. Love the hummm and electric 'buzz' you get!

  • super pickin...great sound on the Godin and a tough song to play....

    Soofan

  • Hello! This was very good stuff! I liked it! What is the name of the guitar?

  • Tom,

If I'm having a kind of down or funky day, I just go to my favorites and play this one! Love it. You are awesome and your music is a little piece of heaven for me. Thanks for sharing, Bev

  • What a nice thing to say, Bev, thanks for listening!

  • great stuff

  • Two thumbs up; great family fun!

  • Great job! Enjoyed it

  • Awesome performance! Great tone as well. How did you record? Amp/mic or Direct? Sounds perfect!

  • Recorded direct into the mixer, out to the sound card. Thanks for the comment!

  • Nice one Tom! Great playing indeed! (Mr DK from the forum btw, hehe)

  • Hi Dale, thanks!

  • Just as good as Tommy. Very inspiring! Great Godin guitar. 5 stars from me.

  • Way to go Tom! Keep those videos comin'!!

  • superb, flawless playing

  • Again, well played Larry. This tune didn't really grab me as much as the other one, dunno why. Good work on the run at the end there though slick.

By the way, nice audio capturing. Piezo under the bridge or mike in the body...or both? Sounds direct to soundcard, maybe a bit of post-recording effects, reverb? Anyway, you've got a good sound going, keep up the good work.

  • Call me Tom :) (larrivee is b/c I play a Larrivee steel-string acoustic). Piezo only, the guitar doesn't have much acoustic response (chambered solid body). Yep, a little reverb added on mixdown. Thanks!
