  • how's this amp for alternative rock and hrad rock?

  • Yeah I wish I got a peavey, over a vox vt30 modeling amp, clean channels are sweet, the drive channels need pedals

  • I disagree with allot of the comments I see here about this amp. This is one of the best sounding 112 amp I've played through. The lead channel IMO is far superior to other amps in its price range. Very good and clean Metal tones, my amp has stock tubes and speaker; this thing does NOT get muddy at high gain. If you are getting a muddy sound out of this amp its probbly your pickups NOT the amp.

  • Is your amp modified or something???Mine sounds simular but 5313642165x more muddy, and, this sounds horrible with a Metal Muff Pluged in!!!!!!!!!!!

    Dammit.

  • hell, i got this for $210, and i think it sounds great.

  • Ppl, ur expecting too much fromm a 400 dollar amp. you guys think its goin to sound like a marshall jvm? wel NO IT WILL NOT!!! this a good amp and stop destroying other ppls dreamns of having a tube. because sum ppl are rich bastards that can buy all the shit they want

  • I have this amp, it sounds much better with modifications.

A different amp will give you better value for money stock, but a modified Valveking will give you a tone that can compete with pricier amps. It's very much a modification platform and should be treated as such.

A new speaker will make a big difference. The newer Valvekings come with pretty good stock tubes, but they may be worth swapping as well.

  • @OtherRealmer Continuing from my last comment.

The electronic circuit of this amp is pretty much identical to a Fender Twin, and on the lead side of the circuitry we almost have a Mesa Rectifier except for ONE capacitor value. Conclusion? My Valveking sounds like the love child of a Mesa and a Fender Twin, and all it took was a speaker and a 39k capacitor. Thank you, engineering classes in college!

  • @OtherRealmer I meant to say resistor. And what's in there is a 39k, I replaced it with a 10k.

  • Got one used for $240...wasn't too impressed..Put an Eminence Texas Heat in and all tungsol tubes and now sounds real good...

  • If you can find a Way Huge 'Fat Sandwich' pedal you will get the best tone out of this amp that you can possibly get. I was frustrated with the built-in gain and none of my other pedals, including pedals I tried at the guitar stores, made me happy. The Way Huge 'Fat Sandwich' gives me that classic Clapton over-driven Marshall sound with plenty of sustain and stays consistent at any volume!

  • WARNING!!! this video is LOUD your ears wiill get raped

  • damn, sounds like dimebag with all the damn floyd rose action there. love it

  • damn, shred that bitch. i need to learn how to make some of those sounds ;)

  • I bought the 100w head version (for $250 used), and couldn't be happier. great price and very versatile.

  • This amp is very mediocre for being around 500. You can get much better. It sounds like shit with any pedal you use, it muds up, the trebles are VERY harsh in a live setting. I'm upgrading to a Bugera 333XL thank god... so much better than this amp.

  • @mynameisDavid92 totally agree :| its an awesome amp, but i dont know why it muds up my tone with my effects, i use a Boss GT-10 and it doesnt sound as awesome. i tried a bugera! legit!

  • I heard that this amp is really good if you want to mic your guitar amp. Is that true?

  • can anyone help me on this. im going to buy a new amp, but i need to choose between the peavey VK 112 or the vox AC15c1. both have tubes and are close in price. i like to shred stuff like buckethead and sometimes i do metal stuff, but i do clean stuff as well...you can say im progressive metall-ysh. so yeah, witch is better for me?

  • i love my VK 112

  • I have a 6505+ combo, it's epic.

  • hey man

I thinking of buying the valveking 112 or the 212. it's just for practissing in my own bedroom, but also jamming with a drummer. whhich is the best choise, cause the 212 is like, 100 euro's more

  • @alkleiza1995 112 should be fine.

  • I have tried tube swaps, eq front and back etc. The eq really helps the situation by light years especially in the effects loop. I believe it is a good amp, but with the stock speaker it is utter crap. Any help would be much appreciated as we are gigging in less tan a month and I am stumped.

  • I use Boss pedals ( Metal Core F.eks) and its great Sound. Its much better than the Distortion at the amplifier :D

  • this, the 6505+ combo or a roland 30x?

  • @butterknucklez i'd go for the 6505 combo

  • @rockcastlemusic the 6505+112 combo a good amp?

  • Comment removed

  • I have this amp for a little over a year and have already had to put a new jack in it. all new tubes, and had to take it to be fixed for another reason. its a sweet sounding amp but its just not road readdy.

  • @Godlessism

I have the same amp. I got it as a gift, but I don't really like it. It's just not my style. Personally, I suggest just sticking with a Marshall if you want Dinosaur Jr.. Also, nice on the Dino fan. Don't seem 'em that much.

  • Not saying it sounds bad at all dude, but I have been gigging out of this amp for about 2 years now and I want to throw it out of a window lol. Personally, it just doesn't give me the sustain I want, the distortion is too muddy at high volumes and the reverb is absolute crap.

I really wanted a nice tube amp and I settled for this. I am pretty disappointed with Peavey on this one. Usually they live up to their name...

  • @mvance11089 yeah i know.you should change the speaker to get a better sound out of it. i sold this amp about a year ago because of the same reason as yours.

  • @mvance11089

I also purchased this amp, and unfortunately im dissapointed aswell. I change the speaker into a celestion g12t 75 watt, the sound changed drastically, it aint that muddy and the mids are much descent.. Still im not satisfied as much, compaired to my previous line 6 spider 4 its sounds much better, but in all i think i should have stuck with that.

  • @gnikolakis7 Thats the nuttyest comment ive ver heard to prefer a piece of shit digital line 6 amp over a high gain peavey tube amp. you need to train your ear and quit playing amp modelers which have no dynamic tone and give off fake digital static

  • @Gyro911 amen to that bro....

  • can this be a metal amp if i use a boss me-25 multi effect pedal?

  • hey man i know this thing could get loud enough for small gigging but can it also be quiet enough to be played at home without makeing my house be full of loud noise i personally dont care if its loud or not but my parents do and if you use it quietly does it still sound good distorted and if you can please give me a idea bout how heavy it is

  • great amp for its price!

  • i picked one of these. its very sweet

  • what are your settings on the amp for the distorted sound? i have a custom guitar with a single dimarzio bridge pickup in it and Im trying to find an amp thats very loud but doesnt lose its tone or get too muddy. can this amp do a van halenish semi heavy sound? and should i get this or the 212 100 watt valve?

  • Does it sounds good at low volume ? (again :D )

  • does it sound good at low volume ?

  • does it sound good at very low volume ?

  • should i get the peavey valveking, the vox valvetronix 100 watt, the fender frontman 212r, vypyr tube or fender super champ XD

  • @TheSuicidalSquirrels What is your price range?

  • @ibanezman007 $300-500

  • @TheSuicidalSquirrels How many watts do you need?

  • @ibanezman007 Between 50-100 watts because i play at home but also play in a band with a really loud drummer

  • @TheSuicidalSquirrels Well, you could get a 40 watt tube amp (these are loud as hell!) You don't really in my opinion, need much more then that. If you want alot of power you could go with this Valveking 112. But also take note that 1 tube watt= 1.5 solid state watts. So a 30 watt tube amp is really a 45 watt amp, and a 50 is really a 75.

  • those arpeggios you played stating on a minor sound like is there anybody out there by pink floyd... just the beginning.

  • the amp is good it just needs a distortion pedal for high gain stuff

  • wieso knarscht der verstärker so wenn man den verzärrer drin hat?

  • cane you make the sound of this amp acdc and guns n roses

  • can you make the sound of guns n roses whit this amp?

  • I'm thinking of this amp as my next one because all I have is this shitty Line six spider 3. I'm looking for a clear and sharp tone while maintaining the edge of a metalish sound. (kinda like a Gilbert-esque sound.) My price range is about 425 dollars and Sam Ash has it for about that, but I'm not entirely sure. I heard the foot pedal SUCKS on this thing. Should I grab this baby if i'm trying for that clean edgy sound? What would be a decent alternative otherwise, if not. Thanks! :D

  • just wondering, do you have a single coil in the bridge, or what is making that horrible buzzing noise?

  • Hi!

What is better? Peavey Valveking 112 or Kustom Defender?

  • This amp is better for metal and but he's good for blues and rock .

  • hi everybody..I think that this amp is better for metal than soft rock and blues, isn't it ?

  • Without an overdrive pedal and an EQ, it's pretty poor in my opinion.

Though I have to say, when you do stick those two things into the mix, you can get a pretty soul crushing sound.

  • Awesome tone. I 'm looking for a good high gain metal tone and trying to find a good amp, but one that won't be too loud and impossible to play in a small apartment at a normal noise level. Would this one be too loud? Thanks.

  • hmm... why the guitar is not plugged into the amp?

  • i thought that is jack plugs in the right) my appologies

  • nice playing man! like your chords in the clean demo. this amp is so awesome. i think i might get it.

  • iam thinking of this amps:

    peavey bandit 112

    peavey valve king 112

    peavey valve king 212

    marshall avt50

    for music like metallica,ac-dc,white snake,jimy hendrix,eric clapton(metal,blues,hardrock.

WHAT IS THE BEST AMP FOR ME!

    PLEASE HELP ME

need a amp with a good basic clean so not like a line 6 spider!

    PLEAS HELP ME!

  • Valvekin 112 :P

  • @gustiii2 just get this

  • @gustiii2 Pick a valveking !

  • @gustiii2 Valveking 212 is the best option

  • dose this thing need a sound Supresser?

  • wonderful amp and playing.

you've only used the amp's distortion?

    that was awesome.

    congrats man!!

  • I'm going to start a band so would this amp be good for gigging?

  • Nice playing, dude.

  • nice amp, and nice playing.. does anyone know if this thing is pretty noisy at higher gain settings?? im thinkin about getting this amp and I have the vox tonelab le that i want to run through it... and yea im wondering if i should just dial in a good high gain tone on that through the effects loop or what (it has noise reduction being the main reason i thought about doing that)

  • it has some noise but I seriously doubt it's anything the noisegate can't kill. also I'm talking about the head, not sure about the 112. I just deal with the noise unless I'm recording. It's not too bad.

  • @JayFromEarth i just got the 112 yesterday... i was disappointed... untill i hooked it up to an external cab and dialed in my vox tonelab le :)

  • yeah, im going to get the ibanez ts7 soon for boost

  • the valveking is awesome, i have it.... but with the vk 112 you going to need some overdrive pedal to boost (to play metallica), i think.

  • this one and and you can do some upgrades later so it can sound much much better

  • Get the valveking. Valvetronix is garb

  • Nice ass playing dude - lol. Oh, and the amp sounds sweet too!

  • Get a hotplate (power attenuator) and then ANY amp can be pushed full on, with diminished volume for bedroom or small venue usage.

There's your pro tip for the day =)

  • is this amp to loud to play in a bedroom please respond

  • no... but you wont get the full tone of the valves unless you get it to a resonable level

  • no...not mine at least

  • In a house yeah , in an appartment too much for sure , but I have one and it is gonna be loud if you want the tubes to react well. if you play only in your bedroom , take a look at the roland cubes

  • Obviously

  • does it have reverb?

  • Yep this amp has amazing reverb.

  • yes it does

  • oh my god.. what equalizzation is this? is this in boost mode?

  • i like the digital delay effect... the one were it makes it sound like its in a big room. its built into the amp or its a pedal?

  • You mean reverb? It's built in.

  • Is this amp good for metal like metallica and megadeth? And is the speaker as bad as people say it is?

  • thanks bro im thinking of getting the 2x12 combo sometimes in the future since this is a little too small for my needs but great fucking amp overall; love it!

  • whats the wattage on this thing?

  • 50watts and very loud

  • @stefanpetrov12

The 212 has 100W and even louder

  • i want this amp so badly!

im sick of my f*ckin line 6 spider 3!

Whats the cheapest i can find this amp... apart from ebay lol :P

  • I just got one from e bay for $500au (around $200us). Cant wait for it to arrive

  • Shit $500 is good as. Even Bandits are more than that.

  • Its an awesome amp. I find it a little bit loud for a practice amp because it needs to be at about 11 o clock on the volume to make the valves drive nicely. You can play it quietly if needed but you do lose some tone. Either way, I still love it

  • you can run a volume box through the effects loop, that way you can turn the amp volume right up to drive the valves, but the actual volume output is controlled with the volume box

u can get them really cheap brand new from ebay (the box, that is)

  • just a shame there isn't a smaller wattage version eh? i'm planning on getting one soon. my house is moderately far away from the ones nearby, so hopefully i shouldn't get too many complaints x]

  • that distotred riff is pretty cool, wats the piece called?

  • just some random riff.i dont know what to play that time. XD

  • what kinda guitar ru using?

  • Ibanez RG350DX

  • would this amp be good for my gibson sg with 81 85 emg's?

  • Im sure it would be.I think your SG sounds far better than my RG.

  • Sounds awesome! I tell ya, I CAN NOT wait to buy one of these! I'm gonna be using a DiMarzio super distortion pup through it, though, so I won't need a pedal.

  • Yeah this amp is really awsome,at first I was a little disappointed with the way it sounds because my head was stuck with the sound of a Marshall tube amp.I never realized how good the sound is till lately.I'm using a stock Ibanez RG350 in this video.I was planning to buy a distortion pedal but i changed my mind, the distortion on this amp is good enough for me.screams a lot when i do pinch harmonics, and it screams in almost every fret.for me if it screams that easily then it must be really good.

  • This thing died on me yesterday,Im going to bring it back to the store to have it replaced

  • Wow! Did you get it replaced?

  • yes.got a new one.

  • The clean channel from this amp is not too bad I think, but if you want to get the most out of the dirty channel, you may have to use an overdrive pedal. The dirty channel is a bit fuzzy as you may have already noticed, but there is always the option of running pedals. That is what I do with mine and I get good sounds out of it.

I also replaced the stock speakers with Eminence Wizard and Swamp Thang, and they do make a huge difference. Mine is the VK 212.
