  • Boom

  • sounds like top end noise. what ever it is its not submursed in oil

  • sound like rod lose cause knock

  • nasty rod knock man

  • how much does it cost to fix that cause my car make the same noise like that one on the video and it a 2.4 twin cam pointiac grand am 1997. and can that be fix also if there any one there who know thanks.

  • yep cam knocks are usually no good, can be a ugly situation.

  • lol typical gm....

  • Damn, hurts to hear that. And yeah, we hear that. Check both of your camshafts and your valves one by one. You have 16 of them, so be patient. They could be knocking or sticking. Have you ever run it without oil?

  • i think it might be the window? im not very smart with cars but im pretty sure its a window

  • ouchh when u rev it, that deep knock is the rod bearing....that ticking noise at idle is lifters...dont worry about the lifters but the rod knock means time for new engine...or crank rebuild, dont bother replacing just bearings

  • rod knock dude. id give it a month before it blows if u take care of it. u r looking at more money than its worth to fix it.. talkin hundreds.

  • The rods bend do to heat and not enought oil it is a bad thing and you may want to get another engine instead of getting that one fixed the engine is shot and would cost alot to get fixed...and is not worth it !

  • @1974nyarlathotep fix it your self duh, its not bad. for the love of god don't run that engine any more lol until its fixed.

  • @1974nyarlathotep all except for the fact that it has no pushrods... it is a DOHC motor and the valves are driven right off the cam.

  • Yeah you have a lifter proplem and one of your rods is bent from it ! you must get it fixed or your gonna throw a rod ! that means it will go througth part of your block and your engine is done ... My advise to you is under no circumstance should you drive the car until you have a mechanic fix it.. if you bought the car recently go get your money back you where ripped off....

  • rocker arm get it fix fast

  • im betting its the #3 rod bearing...oil pump is probably failing and the number 3 is always first to go...my advice if u put another 2.4 in is to go the extra mile and do the 2.3 oil pump conversion it will take care of that problem im fianally learning my lesson on the 3rd motor :)

  • its a 2.4 !!!!!!!!! theres the 1st problem. the knock is ROS KNOCK. time for an engine. those engines dont last long when you race them. swap a 3.8 SC into your grand am and them you'll be laughing

  • Sounds like a rod knock

  • before i have grand am 1993 2.3 l very very bad engine A lot of electrical faults

  • sounds like you need a new motor

  • i did the same thing with my car.9 except i have a 2000 grand am gt 3.4.

  • A rocker arm smacking the valve cover.

  • yeah, same prob that we had on our trade-in, yours isn't as bad yet. It's the lifters, we ended up selling ours off after mechanics said it was so bad it prob needed a new engine.

  • Thats definatly a rod bearing probably the #3 rod they have a tendency to go out on these engines.

  • you shouldn't have raced it man. hate to say it like that

  • blown mains bearings your crank may be trashed! the sound you hear is the main bearings with too much clearence.

  • yeah man was the cam on of the lifters

    was damaged

should get it fixed though pretty soon

  • @fossil99 how much did it cost 2 fix?

  • @fossil99 Glad at least you got it figured out.

  • Did u ever find out what that noise was?
