i know that footage, if i remember correctly its a japanese artist that works with very strong magnets, and ferrofluids. magnetic nanoparticles in oil. liquid if there is no field, but it reacts somehow like metal powder if there is a field, but it stays liquid and keeps a very smooth surface.
