  • what call you using there bud? sounds pretty werid at first? never head a call make that kind of sound?

  • @18SkilletKiller Its a cutter style call ... sounds a little strange because the mic was so close to use ... didn't want to move around to much in the open woods to get it further away ... it was peakin' the mic and made it sound a little strange.

    Good luck this spring ....

    Matt

  • you forgot to get your decoys lol

  • Do you prefer to use decoys or not when hunting turkeys?

  • Great video guys! :-)

  • Oh and can I have some tips????? Those will REALLY help.

  • Dude nice video! I'm going turkey hunting in a week with my grandpa. I thought for a week I was suppost to go tomorow and today when I found out I was going in a week, I was bummed. But nice bird!!!!!

  • what size shot do u use

  • @firefox8192 We use Winchester Supreme 3" or 3.5" in a # 6 shot with a Carlson's choke.

  • What brand og editing softwsre do you use i need something for a pilot tv show andnice hunt. You guys make me proud

  • When ur doing the calls, how long, roughly do u have to wait till the birds get into close shooting range?

  • @trucker274 Depends on the birds ... some come right in, some take thier time, and some don't come at all ... the longer you can wait them out, the better chance you have ... these birds took quite a while to commit ... they were hung up behind a line of brush that they did not want to cross. But when they did ... Game Over !!! ... good luck this season.

  • does you call have like 2 slants in it and its like a "v" shaped. cause on my call one angel is like 75 degress and the other is 45 degress! message me asap thanks for your time!

  • @underroathfreak The call i am using is a "cutter" style call. Not a "v" cut. There are many manufacturers out there that make them. Good luck this spring.

  • what kinda call is that and what are you saying to make that sound? it sounds kinda deep.

  • @underroathfreak Using a three reed cutter that I make myself.

  • shotta 23lb 9.5inch beard second day in the evening up here in Ontario Canada...first gobbler it was allot fun! Hunting in the states, places like Nebraska and shit looks intense

  • @callofduty2345 CONGRATS!!!! ... Way to go man ... now your hooked ... welcome to the club.

  • yeeeea buddy lol...thnx eh where do you guys hunt at?

  • whats state is this in? those tags look like new york state tags

  • @rangerkid777 It's CT ... but we do hunt NY as well.

Best of luck this spring ... opens in a few days for you guys.

  • @RealOutdoorsTV actulley i moved to indiana, amd the part i live in there are hardly any turkeys so i hunt new york with my grandpa

  • @rangerkid777 Cool ... good luck this spring.

  • jeez im sooooo excited im going to be in alabama this weekend turkey hunting at my dads friends 70,000 acre ranch! an american indian guide that works on the property is taking me out! I CANT WAIT!

  • Excellent ... best of luck ... we're heading to TX in the morning ... hopefully have some luck there as well. Let us know how you do.

  • @RealOutdoorsTV

hahaha so it turns out that guide wasnt indian, just really good at hunting. but he took out my brother (who killed a 9 and 1/2 in bearded turkey) and i killed a 10 and 1/4 in beard turkey with 3/4 in spurs. and the day before, my dad killed a 10 in beard turkey with 1 and 1/2 in spurs! it was an awesome hunting weekend for my family!

  • SWEEET!!!! ... Congrats on the gobblers, sounds like it was a blast. Good job.

  • i live in southern ontario and im going to be turkey hunting with my grandpa in the spring do you have any tips for me

  • Watch some more of our vids ... we also have calling tips as well ... as spring gets closer, we'll be posting more ... Best of luck.

  • I am primarily a big game hunter but may be getting stationed where I can give turkey hunting a try. In the market for a good turkey gun now and looked at that charles daly. Do you like it? Would you recommend that shotgun? Do you recommend semi auto or pump?

  • Love the gun ... it's been very good to me for many years. I would certainly recomend whatever you end up with, to match it up with a good Carlson Turkey Choke and Winchester HV Turkey Loads. It's a no miss combo.

  • Really, any 12 ga. that can shoot 3" shells and have a choke tighter than .690-.700" or so, will work well out to 30-40 yards. No one really has any business shooting past 40...I don't care what set-up they have. Call them closer, and take a 15 yard shot.

  • Turkey loads=My favorite 12G ammo.Really cheap about $15.00 for a 10-15 pack.Not much turkey where I live.

  • Yep. Dove season here in Texas. What state you hunt in?

  • .... CT

  • I'm a hunter myself. Good job!

  • Thanks man ... best of luck this season.

  • What gun were you using?

  • Charles Daly ... 3 1/2" 12 ga. auto.

    Carlson's Choke

    TruGlo Optics

    Winchester Supreme Ammo

  • I quite like Charles Daly shotguns.Mines in 20G.

  • Excellent ... mine has been very good to me.

  • hey realoutdoors r u the one in the vid that shoots the turkey?if so plz reply to me thanks!

  • great videos guys....

  • hahaha thats so awesome. believe it or not i went turkey hunting just this morning and shot a nice 2 year gobbler. my advice is to aim for the head with your shotgun cuz the pellets spread and all you need is one pellet to straike a turkey in the head for a kill

  • You got it ... had and neck is the way to go.

CONGRATS on the gobbler ... hope you got him on film ... we'd love to check it out ... we don't start here until May

  • where in the body of a turkey should i shoot my dad said the head but its kinda hard for me any advice

  • 100% go for the head and neck area ... it's the only way to insure an effective harvest.

  • man i wish i had it on film, it was my dad and I so we couldnt get it on tape. plus i was so nervous that i was shaking so i dont think it would have been a good video anyway :-D lol thanks though

  • right where the neck meets the body, that way when you're pattern spreads out it will hit the body and the head.. if you aim for just the head, half of your pattern will actually go above its head.

  • im going to spring turkey hunt in 09 (youth) so wat call should i use

  • Whatever call you feel most comfortable with ... use what you feel sounds best ... and don't try to do to much ... just try to sound like a turkey.

  • I love his little victory dance after

  • its kool but my qesution iz it better to use a blind or like u sit down and hide

  • Depends on the situation ... I like to run-n-gun, so a blind isn't my first choice ... but if your going to sit in one area like the edge of a field, they might be the ticket for success. Good luck.

  • I use a 12 gauge pump

  • ya I shot winchester supreme hv #6

  • They rock'em ... and the Spupreme HV waterfowl loads work great too.

  • I hunt in arkansas where turkey hunting can be a challenge. I really liked this video, its similar to areas i hunt.

  • Very Cool ... the only time I hunted Arkansas, I was standing knee deep in water and shootin' greenheads ... good luck this season ...

  • Nice Im going to use my new Mossberg 535 ATS 12ga

  • this year is gonna be my first year turkey hunting, i already have a mossberg 12ga i wandering what are some tips that would help out tremendously ..... i would apreciate anything

  • You can't go wrong with a Carlson's Turkey Choke and Winchester Supreme HV #6 shells ... it's an incredible combo.

Check out some of our other vids, and subscribe cause we'll have a bunch more stuff coming out this season.

  • where would i be able to get a choke like that are they at walmart or would i have to find a bass pro shop?..... and also is it easier and or better to hunt out of a blind or like you did in the video against a tree?

  • You can get that stuff at places like Cabela's and Bass Pro for sure ... as for the hunt ... I like to be mobile and be able move or change positions quickly when I need to ... therefor I don't use blinds ... however, they do work great in many situations.

  • is that a pump action rifle?

  • No it's a Charles Daly semi-auto 12ga. I was using 3.5" Winchest HV Supreme #6 's in it.

    It does the trick.

    Thanks for watching ...

  • get that bastard!

  • great video i use a remington 1187 with no scope 20 gauge

  • Thanks buddy ... glad you liked it ... sometimes a 20ga is all you need when you call 'em in close ... and even then with todays ammo and chokes, a 20ga. will reach out there pretty good.

  • Wow that bird came in fast! Had a huge beard. Another great hunt I have witnessed by The RealOutdoors group. One question though. I have watched a lot of turkey hunts in the past coupke of months and I have noticed more guys have scopes on there shot guns I would just like to know is it help out a lot and what type you would recommend for a 12 gauge.

  • Thanks Dan ... Glad you diggin' them ... Scope are the bombe ... I feel a red dot is the best ... you can adjust it if your gun shoots high, low, left or right, there is no eye relief in case you get in a wierd position, and with both eyes open it almost disappears ... with todays chokes and loads your pattern is so tight under 20 yards it's almost easier to miss than if they were at 25 or 30 ... I use scopes from TruGlo and Burris mostly ... I have them on every turkey gun I own.

  • Awesome hunt! QUESTION: Why did U drop your decoy when you were running up to get in place? This past fall was my first season using a decoy and Im still not to sure how to set them in regards to my calling location. Any advice would be great!

  • I would rather use the terrain than a decoy ... If you notice, when the bird finally pops up on my level, he's within shooting distance ... keep them looking and wondering ... use the terrain so that the first time you can see the bird you can shoot him ... don't give them a chance to scope out the scene ... Decoys are great, but you never know how they'll respond ... that's why it's so fun.
