I think driving is all about stopping. Anyone can sit in the seat, step on the accelerator, and go. The tricky part is paying attention to what's stopped ahead of you and processing that information correctly so your brain can transmit a message to your right foot to move over a pedal.

always stay fully alert and i know a lot of drivers dont have their cb on at times, but it would help if they did. i always have mine on because u can run up on a hazard at the drop of a dime. but if u have advanced warning from other drivers, u can be prepared for the situation ahead of time and shit like this would be avoided. be safe out there.

yeah i dont think the guy was falling a sleep, as a trucker i know that if you dont clean your tail lights from time to time and you run with your lights on all the time it can be hard to tell which is which. i think the problem truck made the right move and was alert enough to know he had an out.... either that or he just didnt care if there was anyone over there,,,

@ffjsb The truth is that it is not legal to park facing the wrong way in most (maybe all) states. Even if police do not get usually tickets for traffic violations while on the clock, police are not above the law, However I am glad that he was parked this way as to make this totally awesome video!!!
@TheRandyMajor An emergency vehicle can park anyway it needs to at an emergency scene. There is no such law in any state about parking a cop cars. I know, I've been doing this for almost 30 years.

He is in the position he's in because he is there because of a traffic problem ahead and he is monitering traffic. So he is there for traffic control, and thus doing his job. His camera is on because his emergency lights are on, therefore he can put his car in any position he deems necessary. And he can get out and leave the car parked there as well.

@26692 The traffic was already going to slow down as first truck you see is already slowed down, other truck did not watch where he was going too fast and did not look ahead to slow down. Cop didn't cause an accident even if they are facing the wrong way. Watch again as you see after the cop turned around you can see there are other people already going slow before the accident happen.
I wonder what provoked the first truck to come to a near stop in the first place. Although the second truck is technically at fault, the first truck may have contributed to the accident by stopping without any good reason.
The cop wisely choose to get out of the way prior to becoming a statistic.

The second truck wasn't paying attention at all. Even if the first truck doesn't put on its 4 ways the second truck should have noticed he was slowing. Jake brakes don't slow your truck quickly. If the first truck was using his jakes the second truck should have noticed the change in speed. The cop was on the shoulder, if he was their as a warning of traffic trouble he would have his lights on which also told the trucks to slow down. The fault is all with the second driver.

@26692 The traffic was already going to slow down as first truck you see is already slowed down, other truck did not watch where he was going too fast and did not look ahead to slow down. Cop didn't cause an accident even if they are facing the wrong way. Watch again as you see after the cop turned around you can see there are other people already going slow before the accident happen.

I wonder what provoked the first truck to come to a near stop in the first place. Although the second truck is technically at fault, the first truck may have contributed to the accident by stopping without any good reason.
The cop wisely choose to get out of the way prior to becoming a statistic.

@Zyworski It’s pretty obvious why the Sorrento Cheese truck (front truck) was slowing down. If you look at the video AFTER the cop gets turned around, you’ll see WHY the Sorrento truck was stopping. The traffic was stopped in front of him. The Sorrento truck was NOT a contributed factor to the accident.

The second truck wasn't paying attention at all. Even if the first truck doesn't put on its 4 ways the second truck should have noticed he was slowing. Jake brakes don't slow your truck quickly. If the first truck was using his jakes the second truck should have noticed the change in speed. The cop was on the shoulder, if he was their as a warning of traffic trouble he would have his lights on which also told the trucks to slow down. The fault is all with the second driver.

PROFESSIONAL drivers always throw on the four-ways when they are slowing down because of traffic, construction, etc., to WARN the people behind them. The Volvo's four-ways were clearly not on and the yellow truck was obviously not paying attention.
