@disconsolatebliss I doubt they're super rich; they're always kind of vague at how they pay for things spouting out some crap about going to a no debt seminar but I know they own some rental houses, some land, and at least one car dealership, plus they do save tons of money by buying things used, probably most if not all of the things they bought where gotten whole sale.
i am thrifty a lot like the duggars. i call my style early american welfare.....lol....spend a lot of times buying second hand and re-tooling the items. i sew which is a blessing i learned how at a young age.i make my own insulated curtains, pillows, bedding. i quilt,knit , crochet so i manage to make all the things i want or need.learned to use power tools and do a lot of my own home remodeling and maintenence...thank you duggars. the american spirit is not dead. not bad for a female.
What can I say I felt what I felt. It's not about woulda, shoulda,coulda if you feel something you feel it and in my experience there is usually a reason why. As you can see the comment was made quite a while ago now and at the time I was happy for the children too. As I said I just felt a moment of sadness for the girls it was like they had never been asked what THEY wanted before. As compared to the boys who had no hesitation.I watch now and am even more uncomfortable about the gender ineqali
I love these older videos of the Duggars way more than the newer series. They're just so much more natural and it's not as staged or planned as the new stuff. I just love watching them building this house, it's just wonderful.

I love this family and have watched all I can on youtube. I have to say though my heart goes out to the kids in this clip. I am one of 5 children and we didn't ever have allot either. I suppose it didn't hurt us, I cannot really say, but I did feel a moment of sadness especially when the girls so tentalively put foward their ideas on what they wanted for their home.
@IknowImasd This familly always had plenty of what they NEEDED.... my heart rejoices for them, it shouldn't "go out " to them. God has provided their EVERY need!
That`s interesting that the idea of a slide in their house came from a little boy. I started out watching them from when they were already in this house so it`s interesting to go back & see that they really weren`t stylish. I was always thinking they had such a sense of style but really they didn`t & it makes sense. Look at there hair, clothes, & home, especially that garish table & it`s evident they have no style but later after the TV crew fixed them up, they got style.
Notice how the VERY pregnant Mommy took a back seat and let the guest have the front seat. How kind. The art of kindness is not lost. :o) That's self-sacrifice. Wow. Really living out their faith.
How come they can build their own house? Are they like super rich or something? =|
