Hey i have a small block 350 in my 1986 chevy k10 pick up and i just removed my vaulve covers and cleaned then and i put them back on and when i started it up it started to smoke would that be from something that got into the rockers or what? i could use some help lol i need to take it over to my friends house tomorrow to replace the rear main seal
my buddy swapped out his lg4 305 for a stock 4 bolt 350 with flat tops, he put the tight 58cc chambered heads off the 305 onto the 350, and with a mild cam and descent 4 barrell running stock manifolds, got his 87 t/a into the high 14's , pretty good gains considering he was running low 16's
I was kidding about puttin them on a 350 but u r right u can make them worth while I've also seen them crack on the strip I'm just saying it would of Ben worth it to invest in a good set of heads
R u kidding me just keep runnin that fucker without coolant or oil those shitty 305 heads won't last long it would of Ben a better idea to put 350 heads on a 305 reguardless how it runs now that was a dumb idea all 305 heads r shit
@apates0420 actually you got that backwards... 305 heads are actually very good, they just need a little port work and larger valves and 400hp on a 350 is easily attainable.. btw 350 heads on a 305 would be like a 7:1 compression ratio, so I hope you were kidding when you made this post, it also looks like that there is oil in it..................
@81caminoss idk that i would say they are very good. they are decent. you can port them but really for much horsepower you cant port them enough. they are great for low end torque because the small ports keep the velocities up. they are worth getting though because they are cheap, but if you have the money id get a set of zz4 heads and higher compression pistons to make up for the combustion size difference.
@saxyjazz123 ... BOTH of the heads you have mentioned roughly share the same intake runner size and exhaust the 416/601s flow at between 157-165 compared to the lousy 163 intake runner size of the zz4. Both heads are not great... but both are not bad either. And as for the higher compression ratio.. dude they both have 58cc chambers. For the money zz4 heads SUCK. For the money 416-601 heads are GREAT. There only difference being intake valve.. Thats an easy fix though
@saxyjazz123 by the way I don't know if you said zz4 heads cause your looking to buy some in the future. But if your set on aluminum buy a set of the brodix ik180 or ik200. They are like 100 bucks cheaper than the zz4 and will DESTROY.
