  • wise men learn from other mens mistakes, fools by their own

  • these two bodgers will never be plasterers whilst they have holes in their arses. 3x2 for a straight edge are you sure? In all my days as a plasterer (36 years) have I seen two people perform like these two. they should stick to gardening or whatever they normally do.

    Lennythespread

  • @lennythespread why are you watching a plastering video with 36 years of experience? Are you that bad or just curious?, im just saying if i was a well experienced plasterer or someone, i defently would not be wasting time looking up videos of it

  • @lennythespread what do you think they used 200 years ago, an aluminium feather edge from screwfix. I love the way everyone is leaving comments about whats being done wrong with out actually say what exactly is wrong. as far as i can see they are just doing a couple square feet for a demo.

  • We use to do this as kids, about 8or 9 years of age. I was trying remember the ingredinents. We use to call it white washing. We used big paint brushes, and it use to eat holes in the skin, so wear gloves. Job always came out nice.

  • omg...! Please dont attempt any of these tips... this is sooo wrong

  • @benlyons83 can you tell me how it is done, and what they are doing wrong please. cheers

  • @kevseabass Yeah use a sand and cement.. I use 12 sovels of sand to 3 shovels of cement with one shovel of fireclay. Mix up wit water and a cap of Bi-cole. It need to looklike whiped cream.. Too wet and it will slide off the wall, to dry you wond be able to iron it on.. Inbox me if you want a video demo and I'll make one

  • @benlyons83

They are using a lime plaster for a specific and deliberate reason. You do realise this yes?

  • @lordsummerisle87 yes, there are many ways of achieving this result... this isnt the easiest.

  • @benlyons83. Yes, Ben. Maybe you could do this. Please make a video just as many of these fine gentlemen have done.

  • @eddyvideostar Why would I make a video for? There are 100's of video's correctly showing how its done on YouTube...

  • very useful video - going to try this. thanks for sharing.

  • whats plaster its cement or joint compound ?

  • just so everyone knows this is old style plastering, not comonly used as it only realy needs to be done on older houses where the wall needs to breath. also it takes a lot longer than a few days to dry between coats, generaly 1-2mm a month it drys, and u cant realy go over it till its fully dry as un carbonated lime will just end up being re worked

nice video though, enjoyed watching :)

  • after you finish the wall put a screed on the wall & count the bumps you have...

in my country they check the wall by having a long aluminum screed on all directions with a hand light on the side..if light goes through the wall & screed...then you're Fu** & have to repeat the job again

  • you are not plasterman you idiots :) co za kurwa kiepy ja pierdole brak slow tak to se moze w stodole wytynkowac z synkiem ja pierdole co to kurwa jest :D

  • @1grzesiu1 go charge £2 an hour for a shit job elsewhere

  • Thank you Colin and Phillip, I've learned a lot by watching your demonstration. I know of no one in Queensland plastering with lime - it's all Portland cement render and proprietary applied finishes. Congratulations on keeping heritage materials and handskills traditions alive. Simon Brown

  • i know nothing about plasterin but i aint never seen it done in about 5 different stages before, he starts out with a 20m² room and each time he puts on another coat to get it ready for the next coat he finishes with a 4m² room! thanks for sharin anyway but i wont be using that method :)

  • very good

  • my brother... its the worst thing i´v ever saw . that way it will take you one year to be done. in brazil we do it of onother way.

  • are you for real you hav nt a clue,ya doppy plank!!!!!

  • In america, we look at the wall for a minute, then tear it down and build a new one lol

  • what sort of carry on is that,i hope he was on day work

  • @gibtheyid it was a demonstratio lol!! not a proper job.

  • what products are you using?last layer looks like plaster, others lime render??

  • noobs

  • duble lols!!!!

  • Mexicano work, y que!! jk interesting video!

  • A metre at a time? it would look like a patch work quilt and take weeks as each coat normally takes three days or so to harden before the next coat goes on there would be no problem for a competent DIYer to do a whole wall with lime as it sets very slowly

  • Lime plaster is compatible with old buildings because that is what they were built with, modern materials such as cement, gypsum etc are not. Compatibility is important for many reasons, look at this link. building limes forum ireland - and look for why use lime - Hydraulic or fat Limes are the material recommended by ALL conservation restoration organizations. There is no debate about it. Commenting on their application!, surely that was just a demo sample?. oldbuilders company

  • lol Whats the point use a renovating plaster like limelight or sovereighn. Times have changed mate.

  • DOG!!!

  • Not very good is it!

  • hey collin, mate, grab your left ear with your left hand not your right!

  • me too they are shit

  • post your vids then and prove they are shit instead of just moaning like a french person

  • jesus christ. its even worse when you watch it a second time. dont listen to these two planks. the only thing to remember in lime plastering is TO LEAVE EACH COAT FOR A WEEK TO DRY NATURALLY THROUGH CARBONATION. mist the work 3x per day (with a fine hose setting) diamond scratch 1st coat 2nd coat float scratch. 3rd a top coat. dont over trowel and trust your eye. just completed 100 sq m at £70 p/m on my own 4 weeks. TREAT IT LIKE A HOLIDAY AS MOST OF THE TIME YOU CANT DO ANYTHING ..

  • At least they have made a video for others to learn from...where are yours? Its easy to critisize

  • As someone who is about to repair the interior cob walls of a cottage in Devon that's just been rewired this was a great video.

  • Definitely merchants!!!! Ha ha ha ha!

  • the australian way????? the exact opposite of that

  • wheres yr diamond scratch coat? the wall needs to be absolutly saturated you clearly havnt dampened the wall down enough with that shitty little sprayer! that plaster will crack up! and also there mix apears to have concrete init n if yr doin a traditional job then it should only be lime with sand and hair finly teavd into the mix nt fucking concrete this video is a waste of time tbh!

  • he should try marmorino..

  • SOAK the wall. then fill any holes with a splatter coat. dont use wood (coz it aint never straight) when applying first coat ALWAYS start at the top left of the wall and never go back over the render work, the way across ,otherwise you have some parts with ripples or it starts to pull/sag. scratch it up (horizontaly) same process for second coat. why did he float it on the first coat ,when all he has done has closed the holes needed for the absorption from the water on the 2nd coat.

  • i would have completely soaked that wall with a hose, then used haired lime applied with a sparing trowel, wet again, more haired lime, wet again, then non haired , wet again, then finish with a top putty coat. obviously trowel it smooth between coats, try not to work it too much or you pull all the lime to the surface, especially on the top putty coat. when i used to lime plaster i never used a straight edge, just did it by eye and it always looked spot on

  • geezer was shit.. so wrong in every sense. i used to do the tanking and damproofing in knightsbridge and mayfair basements. £80,000 for 10 days using sika system . this fella would be sacked in five minutes with his technique. who the hell plasters righthanded going left to right. just thought i would let hi see that 2 people actually KNOW their jobs.

  • how much does a plasterer charge to lime plasterer a lath ceiling ive heard its £80 per square meter?????

  • Don't go near a ceiling with lime plaster, it's way too heavy. Do yourself a favour and screw some plasterboard up there then get a plasterer in to skim it.

  • Wot on earth are you talking about don't plaster a ceiling its to heavy then why is there approx 40'000 cob houses in devon all with larth and lyme-plaster , you would be best to learn the trade before telling poeple wot you don't know , ja dixon cobb and lyme specialist , tradeing in devon

  • Fuck you, I've spent the last 25 fucking years repairing ceilings that have been botched by balloons like you.

  • Well if your job is as good as your foul mouth i wouldn't want to see it smalltimer Its fools like you thats given me years of work repairing the cockups you so called tradesman has done ,thats why SPAB was formed to protect building from cowboys like you ,still you carrry on it gives proper tradesman work ,i looked at your favourite Utube videos and that says it all, you have the brain the size of a pea

  • this video is very shit. no doubt about it, they are usless. but where are you from, because every plasterer i know that is right handed goes left to right, also i am a plasterer and so do i!!!!!

  • shut up you boring northen cunt

  • RUBBISH RUBBISH RUBBISH GET A LIFE

  • rubbish i bet that wall aint straight

  • Blimey Guys you are adding cement to your lime in this video.Surely this is not the correct approach. Happy to be wrong. Please let me know why? Thanks otherwise.

  • Where are they putting cement in? I am missing it.

  • what is the gray substance then...happy to be wrong on this but it looks like cement

  • It must be the sand colours they are using.

I hope so anyway...........was going to ring them for a quote.

  • The concrete looking mortar is a Non-Hydraulic Lime (NHL) level 3 or 5. It's a lime with a higher(20-30%) adulterate content of clay or silicates, etc. when fired,

and creates a much more concrete looking substance. Sea Walls are built of it (NHL 5) as it can set underwater. The white lime plasters are NHL 1 or 2.

  • *Edit* Natural Hydraulic, not Non Hydraulic... If anyone knows of a distributor In North America I would love to learn of them, as it seems France and UK are the only producers of this material, and since the dollar is S**t...

  • You're having a laugh. Why not tell us something usefull like how to mix, how long to wait, where to start, not bodge bish bosh. Clowns

  • i dont like it, Where is the 1-st coat ? (wery thin with big amount of water, splashed on the wall)

  • Yes I think this is a video with good advice and tips on plastering.

    Well done and thanks.

    GM

  • ok not sure what to say out that looks like you got a good finish in the end.. i work with lime plaster in australia not sure if its similar or not but we do nothing like what u havve just shown it was intresting to see it done another way :)

  • what's the australian way?

  • looks like a cave wall

  • Dear FilmedCoUk, thank you very much for this clip! If you have anymore blogs of this kind please post them, and don't mind critics! You've made a wonderful job. I'm gonna be working on my appartment through your instructions. Cheers.

  • God help you!!!

  • nice work

  • Are you realy plasterers because if you are then i wouldn't want you doing a job for me

  • I saw the finished job and it looked great!

  • I think he did a great job !

  • @adylimeputty2008 these blokes haven't got a clue how they get work is beyond me and he is teaching his son what he knows dear oh dear

  • wheres the keying between coats?

  • there brutal

  • 12mm is far too thick per coat,

  • 12mm is fine done it for years never had a problem with it.

  • i dont know why there isnt a rating for you yet. 5 stars, thanks for sharing
