just remember to chage that timing chain . because if it breaks or jumps you will bend every valve stem in the head.. that back fire may be the carbs aint balanced or you got a timing issue.. for what its worth there is an aftermarket intake and exhaust manifold that can be put on the z and allow you to run a holly carb.. see the vid of my red z and you can see a set up installed. I got it thru PAW out of northridge ca in the SF valley

that thing don't need smog...does it? I forget what the cut off is. I have a  73 240z, Smog Exempt :) Under the Hood you can do what ever you want! Triple Carbs, Big Block, you name it!

@Colin415atyotube better keep your old equiptment.. if the DMV ever requests to inspect the motor and they see after market crap on it when you stated it was stock. they can do 1 to 3 things. impound the car fine you and pull the registration. this is why I left cali 11 years ago. Cali can stick their smog rules

@Colin415atyotube or they can make you reregister it as a smog necessary car due to the aftermarket mods and you have to meet year 2011 regs.. good luck with that. your other choice is to make it a parade only car. not registerable for road use.. thats when you buy land in az or oregon and claim an out of state reg

@tbaarr1 First off, the stuff under my hood is Not "Crap"!!! It is high quality equipment...Damn it!!! any ways, F the DMV. I ain't worried! Had the car for 6 years and the DMV never asked for no inspection. I don't see why they would now. And if they did...I would say F you! This my car, and I would turn it into a track car, or move!

I changed mine out after 15 hours of wasting time rebuilding them 2 carbs and balancing them only to have it still run like crud. the holley made mine run like a champ when i pulled off all the nissan stuff.. let me know if you need and extra air cleaner or carb setup. if your still running stock
