Can I just use regular watercolor paint that my kids have at school? Are those okay to paint on fondant cakes? If so, then I really want to try it. This is the first time I've ever heard of watercolor on fondant cakes. Let me know it's the regular watercolors at the store.
for the people wondering about the 'paint,'more than likely all they have done is watered down food coloring or gel coloring such as wilton or americolor, theres also powdered food coloring, thats what I do,dont use non-food grade materials!
I'm sorry, but I disagree with most of the people in here... you make so much drama because paint isn't edible... There are edible paints and I've seen them... Anyway, even if it's real paint I bet paint isn't as toxic as the alcohol you drink at the party... =) Thanks for the idea and keep posting.
Using NON FOOD GRADE foam stamps makes the cake totally inedible. You cannot use those to stamp on your cakes. Just because people think something up and do it doesn't mean you really can ingest it. I stamp on my cakes and cookies ALL the time, but use food grade silicone stamps that are mounted on clear acrylic blocks that are FDA approved!
Please read all the comments first. One of the very first comments on the video said that it was a recipe of food coloring, corn starch and water. Not Actual Paint!
A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand
paint isn't edible. but they used fondant on that cake, and a lot of people peel off the fondant. so if they peel off the fondant, they water color paint will come with it. (fondant is the stuff they cover cakes with, to give it a smooth feel. i make flowers, and polka dots and stuff like that with fondant.)
Food colouring works great for this

you cannot use watercolors for cake-decoration. read the integrets!!! did your mother eat this cake? how can you do this?
hariboforever 3 years ago
Or might be food colouring dulled down with some vodka, which would make it perfectly edible

Propably non-toxic kids paint. Technically not edible as it won't digest, but "safe in small quantitites". Nobody will die...

.... Edible Watercolors and Edible Markers are available in any decorating section - even JoAnn Fabrics and your grocery store.
merittandrews 3 years ago
Right, which are actually food dyes made specifically for human consumption. Not "genuine" watercolors.
