Yes, I do quillwork, and I will also teach her this. She is still young and trying to sew onto the leather might be a little tough for her right now. So, tell me a litle about yourself. Have any pics of your work or a pic of your regalia? You can see more of her regalia at " It's An Indian Thing "
to grassroots777....ummm we are actually anishnawbek, First Nation, not indian-wrong continent, remember your explorer was lost and mis represented us as a whole diffrent race, by accident, im just saying!
2 thumbs up .. excellent job she did on beadwork...it aint easy sometimes to a youngster but keep on encouraging her...shes doing wonderful. i started quillwork at her age and it was tough. she is too cute too.
OMG! She is so adorable and so talented too! Is she doing a peyote stitch? If so, please tell me if it's even or odd count. I can do odd, but for some reason, I have such a hard time with the even count. :D
Yes she Peyote Stitching and its even count. To be Honest with you, I am just as amazed. She has always played with her Pony Beads when I would be doing my bead work and one day she wanted to do what I was doing and I gave it to her and she took off with it.
WOW! Thanks for such a quick response! Oh, I bet you are a very proud father! Keep her doing what she's doing. I know I'm going to try that even count out until I get it right! :D XOX
wow good to see our European products and bead style is still being kept alive by the Americans. I remember the stories my ancestors used to speak about how indians loved our beads soooo much and would trade just about anything for them, especially our glass beads and our colored beads.
very interesting, you see i always knew that we did not originally own this style, and i wondered who we adopted the glass beads from...i herd the same stories from my ancestores-that we traded and prised beads more then money-we actually use to make jerelery out of our coins as well long ago.
Thank you and thanks for the reply. She would watch me bead as she played with her Pony-Beads and then this day she wanted to use my Beads and Needle. I was amazed to see she took at it in such an early age.
3! I wouldn't have to feel bad trying to teach my child crafts so young if I have one :D

What do you call the little holder she's using for her stitching? Did you just take a Chinese Yo-Yo and wrap a fabric around it?
