Im doing this song for MPA's at, my school and my school is a middle school and all the other chorus teachers in different school tell my teacher "Are you serious?" :) we are good and its accapella so that shows that we can have mature voices ;) ps my class is the advanced class! :)
@TheMegacatlover as beautiful as that sounded, I have to agree with the points you made. Well, I think they're breath support was ok, but the swooping into the syllables of mountains go against its romantic origins and made it sound more pop-ish. But all considering, it was still a great performance
A lot of swooping and indistinct diction on phrase, "to the mountains"... requires greater precision and breath support. Is in danger of lapsing into "X Factor" pop song rendition, rather than faithful to the period and subliminally sacred message of the music.
OMG AWEWSOME GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im singing this song sometym soon because i made it to regoin!:D im in 9th grade,Please subscribe(: Keep singing beautifully!!!
u r soo good we sang this for a choir thing and we had like 50 ppl and yall sounded a lot better than us!! even though we had THE BEST choir teacher ever!!!!!!!!
how amazingly enchanting and beautiful, this is truly touching. you really did the piece justice. I'm a huge fan of the first soprano, what a lovely voice.
I'm a first soprano, but unlike some of u, i know not to comment on just the first soprano, but ALL parts, because without the other parts, its nothing. they're ALL amazing. not just the soprano one, but ALL of them. Great job. ALL of you have angelic voices that put others to shame. :) (go ahead and put a thumbs down. if you do, u know its the truth and are too ashamed to admit that your wrong.)
I agree with you that people with untrained ears often just focus on the highest voice, taking for granted the middle voices who usually have the much harder jobs who whom must be at a high caliber of musicianship to perform their part well. However, I've noted myself in this performance that the first soprano has an exceptionally lovely and tuneful voice. One of the best sopranos I've ever heard for her age.

@malibu64 Exaaactly! I don't appreciate Laura just because she's a soprano...there's loads of those haha. It's that beautiful, crystalline tone of her's which is so endearing:)

Fantastic sound but stand still for goodness sake !
All that wavering around and arm movements, especially from the alto, are so distracting.
Brilliant to listen to, but hard to watch.

Jesus, I thought I had heard Angels sing but until today, I hadn't. As Eleda said : 'Magical'. My fave part, the 1:29' mark when
all sing "Whence Cometh". I have to say, the Contralto is NO JOKE!! Look out Marilyn Horne;-)
