Bram Stoker wrote Dracula as a way to blend the two legends of werewolves and vampires. The Count is a vampire but isn't just restricted to being a bat and in certain parts does become a wolf or command them to kill people. There's relevance in that "children of the night" quote alone that proves it.
I think "Blacula" was the best vampire movie ever made
