kirpal's family is the people he initiated. darshan was sawan's initiate- thus belonging to another family (sawan's). kirpal probably does not speak about physical family. at another point(i dont remember where i read it- he mentions that 'every king wants his son to be a king not a minister', maybe this time he was talking about his physical son darshan. but ALL THESE, as masters themselves say, are speculations. we have to meditate and check for ourselves... all god's grace to you...
