You're right in saying that the cameramen were on strike, but the United staff videod the game for training purposes and Big Jan got his hands on a copy. He's had it in his loft for quarter of a century!

BTW natural sounding commentary is normal. A lot of highlights programs like MOTD have commentary thats added later but its sounds natural.
The sound is from the live radio commentary hence the excitement. He even says he went past three players ie he is painting a picture for the radio listener.
