  • This is awesomely slick! ;)

  • David Bowie is a wonderful artist that dresses his ASS off! He ALWAYS looks fly!

  • @inconceivabledark, yes, it's me, in the group 'shot', I'm down front with the moustache....Back in the day...it was a fun day...David was getting pretty frustrated with all the delays associated with production. I committed the 'unforgivable', I actually spoke to David, sensing his frustration, I said something like, what is this vid. about? corporate angst?...He said, "No, THIS is about corporate angst."...Meaning, the video shoot..take care Dan

  • il Genio. guardate e imparate coglioni del 2010. non lo sono tutti....ma tanti. tanti.

  • This video makes me so grateful that David Bowie went into music and not something worthless else like business.

  • Hey, I finally found this video. All these years passed, and I'd never seen it. That's me down front with the moustache, during my moustache wearing period, like when I was a caveman on "Flintstones"...good old days...ah-yes..

  • @tmdaninla lolz u're actually in this vid?

  • I finally watched the short film La Jetee, and it's no joke that the video borrowed brilliantly from the film, making Bowie not only take upon himself the illness of his deceased brother, but also becoming the main character of said film.

  • 2:23 ORGASM

  • This is my favourite song by Mr Bowie, there isn't a song by him I don't like but if I had to list them then this would be number 1. Wonderful video too.

  • I always thought David Bowie should have been in the Harry Potter movies, preferably as a teacher of Illusions and Apparitions (Did you see how much he changed his appearance during the Ziggy Stardust years?).

Anyhow, great song. I was surprised it wasn't included on the "Best of".

  • Loved the song from the first time I heard it...same for that suit he's wearing. It's sharp. I wants it, and I wants it now.

  • See? "White boys [can] jump."

    XD

    I mean..

    poor David's brother! :c

  • @BlueMoonz55 Nop. If they could, he would get to the other side of the railroad... omg! Sorry David...

  • David is a great actor actually.

  • his brother jump from a building, he wrote this song for him. el hermano de D Bowie salto de un edificio el le escribio esta cansiòn.

  • This song deals with his half brother, Terry Burns, and his suicide.

  • Favourite David Bowie music video.

Second favourite David Bowie song (the first being Life on Mars)

  • I think David Bowie would make an excellent James Bond. Jus sayin.

  • @bigmike172 I agree. And it doesn't even matter that he's in his sixties now, he could still get away with playing Bond. The man's barely aged, and he's aged beautifully.

  • @bigmike172

He is my hero, but have to say, he is a horrible actor

  • One of David Bowie best songs!!!

  • Be still my heart in the presence of such awesomeness *swoons*

  • Clutch your ass,my friend Saw him live and he is magical!

  • Beautiful song.. with fascinating lyrics worthy of the master Bowie

  • David had a brother who suffered from schizophrenia (a severe mental illness)... One day he could not take it any longer and saw himself forced to commit suicide... Very common in schizophrenic people....

Nevertheless, David is still a genius...

  • Song based on his brother's suicide...

  • @gdominus for real???

  • He´s a fucking genious, thanks a lot for the good songs you have given to the music.

  • I don't get it. All my friends and family think he's funny looking and can't sing, but I would totally do David Bowie. That man makes me question my sexuality. Damn.

  • @nameillremember lol he's an alien like us. your fam are just simple humans.

  • Mmm.... KICK ASS SONG!!!!

  • First thought...other than loving the song, is I love that suit. Very sharp. It's clean and classy and I wants one like it. Second thought...when he's busted up, it reminds me of his "Look Back in Anger" video. Big fan of his music.

  • Bowie looks killer in that suit. It helps that this song just oozes cool.

  • He is sex on legs and I wish I was the man pressing against his thigh at the end of the video.

  • wow I've been trying to find this song for ages and it takes me back from when I've heard this when I was really young. Thank you David Bowie.

  • 1.04 & 2.23 Omg!! That looked so sexy! <33

    I absolutely love Bowie - he's god! <33

1.45: Take off more! lol XD

I can't have enough from this song - or any other of his!

  • I find, Where he wipes his mouth at 2:31 is a simular contrast, To "Boys Keep Swinging" in which he wipes the lipstick from his mouth in a reminisent gesture !

    It Is Interesting!

    As Bowie, always Is !

  • @supersonicbird11 I thought the same thing! This is a great video, in my opinion. I remember driving late one night in May of 1993 and discovering this song while scanning thru some FM stations, never heard it again, but loved it right away. Bowie rocks, obviously, and this song tells an amazing story.

  • @casheasy Bowie never has let his fans down, Every Tour and Album has incredible Brilliance, and are Light Years, ahead of the Pack, Long Live David !

    Hip, Hip hooray

  • I tottaly agree with u justmeflory!

  • I've watched this brilliant video hundreds of times, and I think I understand it quite well, but for example, could someone please tell me why there are two shady figures in the background while Bowie sings at 1:30 and at 1:50? They seem to be either members of the imaginary conspiracy or two of the people that see Bowie after he jumps, but either way I thought that the Bowie that sings into the microphone was the "normal" Bowie, not the insane man inside (or on top of) the building. Thanks...

  • @crusader92

This song is based on David's brother's suicide... (sad I know)...

David had a brother who suffered from schizophrenia (a severe mental illness)... One day he could not take it any longer and saw himself forced to commit suicide... Very common in schizophrenic people....

Nevertheless, David is still a genius...

  • that was mean! 0:58

  • I wish David would stay that age, but he's 65 now and I fear he's decaying...I wish I could stay that age too....I need to get a Picture of Dorian Gray portrait of myself or I just need to...JUMP...got to believe someboday.

  • @Lionsgrrr don't age my man.. lol... he's 63

  • This song is soooo brilliant and great but it's so sad to think it's all about his half brother Terry's suicided and how depressed David felt. Love the song I just wish there was some other way he could have written it

  • I was 8 when this song came out. Don't know why, but I loved it at the time and I didnt really like any other David Bowie songs.

I haven't heard it in about 15 years and now I just randomly found it on youtube. Absolute brilliant song and way ahead of its time. I played it to my mates and they thought it was from the early 2000's

  • 2:25... mmmm, so sexy.

  • even if u dont know the story to this song its funky.. a bit too funky for a r.i.p song but thats what makes it freaky and unique, u cant guess bowies mind he is a genius within the music industry instead of an office research job... gotta respect the ingenuity a bit..

  • well what is the story to this song?

  • @THCallday its about his bro that commtied suicide by jumping i think.

  • i heard that it's about the jerk who yells jump when somebody is considering suicide

  • Aha, it's about Terry his brother who commited suicide after jumping out of a building :(.

    laav this song :)

  • @Lilyyox his stepbrother

  • che voce ragazzi...tanto di cappello

  • Sssoooo SEXY!!! That low voice KILLS me

  • Definetley his most underrated song

  • probalbly his most underated song

  • Fantastic song and video. Love the frames where he is singing dramatically into the microphone, and where he suddenly opens his eyes, obviously displaying the disparity due to the dilated pupil. Great visual images and a classic, underrated song.

  • great bowie track for all ages!

  • Great song ~

  • what do you call 20 bankers jumping off a building?

    - a good start

  • album hard to find...had a copy I bought in australia...absolute gold'''

  • Bowie is an ace <3

  • so beautiful. all these years later still means so much to me. thank you.

  • This guy is so stylish...really knows how to woo the camera.

  • He could have been a great movie actor, but he prefered going on with music, which was not a bad idea, despite of all his downs between 1986 and 1995, till '1.outside' album, that is, to my opinion, one of his masterpieces...

  • This song is brilliant. Love the suit! a cool dude

  • The man oozes urban cool.

  • This video and song are way ahead of it's time, considering it was made over 10 years ago. Absolutely amazing.

  • its almost 20 years old at this stage!

  • The song and the video are splendid. Possibly one of his most underated song. I cant help myself thinking the song is sad to cry, His brother was schizophrenic, heard voices and threw himself off a psychiatric hospital window.

  • I like the song and it sounds up beat, but if u think about it, it's quite a sad song about the death of his sibling.

  • seeing bowie with the facial injuries...really upsets me...i NEVER EVER want ANYTHING to EVER happen to David

  • I like the rotating microphones

  • It's a real shame his label, at the time, went under. This album went from #1 to out of print for a decade and this single, given time, would have climbed the charts in my opinion. The 10 years between this and Reality could have been very different with a bit of luck.

  • about his brother's death

  • the elegant and cool duke

  • Tricky public period of mister Bowie I'd say.

  • true. His personal life was going so well though that I don't think he really minded.

  • i would sell my soul to the Devil just to have Bowie's love all for me....

    not kidding.

    he drives me MAD.

  • you describe my feelings perfectly!

  • i would too any day even if he will soon be 63 imma find his house in newyork just so i can say ive been close to him

  • id sell my soul for the tiniest fraction of his love

  • @justmeflory i know :( it drives me insane he is all i listen to anymore i would do anything just to even see him

  • @justmeflory -- you need to go and c someone ! and it aint bowie !!

i have no time for any male that marries a man !!

  • @nittenboys ehm ... i'm a girl ....

  • @justmeflory SORRY IT WAS A JOKE AS IN IMAN THAT HE MARRIED !!!!!

  • This song / video is reference to Chris Marker's 1962 short film La Jetée which also inspired the movie 12 monkeys staring brad Pitt, and Bruce wills

  • interesting! I also saw associations to Odyssey 2001 at first :-)

  • Love the song but I've never seen it before....I'm shocked! Absolutely great!!! what a power!!!

  • My favourite.....

  • This track sounds and the video looks more avantgarde than anything released afterwards and especially stuff from these days.

I remember seeing this back in 92 on MTV... It was like a UFO has landed... One of the seldom moments when pop music causes a crack in the space time continuum...

  • sad song, that was about his brother werent it?

  • indeed bowie is so cool with that hair and blue outfit!!!!

fascinating he is!!! tnx 4 posting this video!

  • Great Song, and my fav video of Bowie..

  • I fucking love David fucking Bowie I think he's fucking great. What a fucking artist.

    Flipping eck! He's good inhe?

  • This must be one of the best and most original music videos ever made.

  • Bowie is so cool with that hair and outfit!!!

  • you can say that again Good coment

  • bow down to the master of glam rock!! well one of them anyways lol i guess pop too lol;oO

  • At 1:59 I think hes been kidnapped and is being mind controlled programed to jump the building to make it look like suicide someone/s in power 0:55 wants him dead.

  • amazing how he used such manner to portray the real story right? this was for his brother terry right?

  • Yes. It was David Bowies schizophrenic half-brother Terry, who had committed suicide on 16 January 1985.

  • thanks.

  • definetaly one of the best album from bowie...blck tie white noise.

  • I subscribe to the opinion mentioned by others here, the song was ahead of it's time. If it had a re-release, it might have major success. Who knows, it's a great piece of music anyways.

  • i remember that it was a very avant garde and modern video for 1993.... a little bit like Bjork 6 years later with her "still actual" video 'All is full of Love' ....

both videos were already 21th century videos... and Bowie if it's not his best album... this song is really good... i hesitate to put it in my favourite...

  • You know I was really disappointed by this album when it was released, but gradually it grew immensly on me and now it is among my top 3 favourite Bowie albums.

  • yes...mmmhhh one of my brothers bought this album 15 years ago... and i remember that 2 or 3 other songs were more than interesting...

  • It's such an underrated gem of an album. I'd put it in my top 10 for sure.

  • For that kind of people

    The best regerds

    Bowie the best

  • I Love This song!!!!

    Great lyrics!

  • Incredible song, incredible vid

'got to believe somebody' + bruised face = almost unbearably powerful moment

    out of this world stuff

  • love the suit..

  • fantastic song!!!

  • A hugely under played/rated track. Way ahead of it's time, in it's own way.

  • that's why you shouldn't give a shit about what "they" say.

  • got to belieeeheieve ! :D

    priceless.

  • G-man

  • vicko: that's why mark romanik is the bombdigaty..

and this song must have a whooooole lotta pain behind it..

that's why i love'm so much. hypnoticly amazing

  • I think David was more affected by Terry's suicide than he lets on. I see that make up of db with the black eye and it makes me wierd. DB is... very important.

  • who's terry? bowie's brother who commite sucide?

  • Yup. A Lad Insane. Apparently his brother introduced him to some good books and music- everyone has one of them. Brother or no. Bewlay Bros. Is that a terry/david splice you reckon? I feel a bit rude discussing this stuff, Damn Fame.

  • Terry was his half brother. he showed David all his fav music and got him into it. he joined the RAF and David went into music. A few years after he came back from the RAF he was put into a asylum - skczophernia (cany spell it lol) runs in there familly and Terry had it. He jumped from the window of his Asylum in the early 80's . David was very close to him. Alot of his music is about that and the fact he ws scared hed get it too.

  • this was in reply to Benzer3 - youtube is being funny.

  • and ultimately threw himself under a train am I right?

  • When I listen this song.

    Always I have these(↓) thoughts.

David Bowie is my teacher of the life.

  • ♪ The life can't be easy. It's not always well... ♪

But we had to stand on the earth.

    Let's enjoy our "short" life!

  • Bowie is made out of awesomeness... 100%

  • This could be the same thing I have written to Miracle Goodnight.Or similar.Pop of 2035.Typical Bowie singing about things so strangely, about fear and courage and being currupted and blindly believer, such a nice way this expression, got to believe somebody.2:14 fantastic segue and sax go behind on2:40 playing melody and backrounds switching it over, changes role in it,Sterling Campbell wonderful double drumming machines, perfect piece. NObody from generation age of 15 notice that. probably.

  • Woho! First to comment!

This is a great song by Bowie the Best!
