  • Outstanding song.

  • Credited writers on the album notes were Eric Clapton & Nizami

  • I remember this song being on the back of the 45 with Layla. I was 13 when i bought it from a store in Philly Called the listening Booth. Those were the days of incense and black light posters. And most of all good music.

  • Sublime

  • Beautiful Song! Brings a Tear 2 My Eye! Exquisite! Beautiful....My baby loves it too!

  • @MrRemo58 Good thing Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs isn't exclusively a "blues" album.

  • @MrRemo58 "otherwise" ?!? No, it's not blues, but how does this detract from the album ?

  • Hi

my research brought me here. ^_^

I was reading about an Arabic poet he is very famous his name is Layla and Majnun . ( majnun is crazy in Arabic )

this guy poem was an influence in many cultures such as Persian , Urdu , Turkish.

Eric Clapton quote many words from the Persian version . Nice song

  • My favorite album ever.

    so perfect, so... poetic.

  • "I can honestly say that he was the best session drummer in the world and he made one hell of a mark as a live one as well. He raised the bar so high that no one will reach it" Bobby Whitlock A Rock~n~Roll Autobiography

  • @ScorseseKubrick

Clapton is playing acoustic and Allman is playing electric slide.

  • I love this song. So true when you are in love. I love you Layla! I am yours. However distant you may be, There blows no wind but wafts your scent to me, There sings no bird but calls your name to me. Each memory that has left its trace with me Lingers forever as a part of me. I am yours.
  • Is that really your name?! :D

  • No , xD. That's the name I use in the net when I'm sad.

You know, I have also some inrequited love:she's got a boyfriend.

We were friends before she met him and I loved her but I never told her and won't do it now.

Does anyone know a song about that?

  • Aw, that is SO sad! May I add you as a friend? How old are you? :D

  • Yes, why not?

    I'm 24.

Sad, but at least I still have her friendship, that's my only consolation.

  • Darn! I am only 13! You are so sweet. Why does she not like you....Like that? :D

  • Really? Thanks.

Yes, help me please, because I don't know much about Beatles' songs.

Send me a private mail if you want.

    Thanks again.

  • Layla?

  • Layla is OK, but even the EC and Pattie Boyd affair is similar to mine, the real story of Layla and Majnun is not.

  • who cares about you

  • a great song

  • absolutely beautiful...

  • Miss you dad....

  • theres an old arabic story about a woman named layla, and a man named majnun, who was madly in love with layla, but he couldnt have her,,much like erics love for patty boyd, who was still married to george harrison.this story is where clapton got the name layla, and this song is a direct quote from the story of layla and majnun
