I like Indica but I'm not crazy about how Finnish sounds and I give a lot of attention to lyrics, so I enjoy much more the songs in English that I can understand.
Thank you all for the translations! I am happy to hear a good song in its original language and do not need an english version but its really nice to know what the subject matter is! Great band!
It`s so strange for me. I am a hungarian and our language sounds similar to the finn. When i am listening to this song my mind is always telling me that I should understand it, but than again I can`t understand a world :( But I will start learning it next year:D
mhh not quite a perfect translation xD Google Translator: Was I supposed to take out insurance In case Would you be happier perhaps If you could travel abroad With money If I fall lights Tomorrow and I can not move Maadun worms ilona I guess you did not come as any of them Which only mourn Surely you become a Only mourn Was I supposed to write a letter In case What if I just get discouraged Do not recognize all my ghost
Lyrics: Olisiko minun pitänyt ottaa vakuutus Kaiken varalta Olisitko ehkä onnellisempi Jos voisit matkustaa ulkomaille Niillä rahoilla Jos valoissa kaadun Enkä huomenna voi liikkua Maadun matojen ilona Ei kai sinusta tule sellaista kuin niistä Jotka vain surevat Ei kai sinusta tule sellaista Vain surevat Olisiko minun pitänyt kirjoittaa kirje Kaiken varalta Mitä jos vain masennut Etkä tunnistakaan minun haamua Olen miettinyt..
They didn't just translate the songs, you know. They made new lyrics with similiar message, but they are not at all just translations of the originals.
Making an english version is not the same as translating the lyrics. Unfortunately I don't understand a word, but since I really like this music it would be nice to know what the song is about. I know that a translation can never be perfect but it will at least explain the meaning of the song. And it would always be nice to understand the meaning. But I guess I have to learn Finnish to understand it completely...
@AnycLove or look for the translated lyrics. or translate them yourself :p it's not very hard. Anyhow I didn't really like the english versions as much as I enjoy the finnish ones...
@AnycLove I know that's a 2 month old comment but I figured you might still be interested. Here's my (rough) translation: Should I have taken an insurance Just in case? Would you perhaps be happier If you could travel abroad, using that money? If I fall in the lights and will be unable to move tomorrow I'll rot with the worms. I hope you won't become like those Who only grieve. I hope you won't be like that Only grieve. ((continued))
@AnycLove Should I have written a letter Just in case? What if I just end up getting depressed And you won't recognize my ghost? I've wondered ((What if I fall in the lights and will be unable to move tomorrow? I'll rot with the worms. I hope you won't become like those Who only grieve. I hope you won't be like that Only grieve.)) ((repeat))
I think its such a shame that people have this stereotypic thinking of the "coolness" of languages. When someone does a song in spanish or italian everyone thinks its great, but when I tell someone that I listen to Indica, that sing in finish, they call me crazy. BUT ITS SUCH A BAUTIFUL LANGUAGE, please keep on writing finish lyrics girls!
I love Indica so much, thank you for posting this. Valoissa is a beautiful song. I wish we could get their music here in America, I can't find it anywhere. Our music is crap, I need more Indica :(
Why everything has to have a english version xD? I think Finnish is a beautiful language for this type of songs, so pleas Indica, dont make a English version!
@rickysnickle Well same to you, if don't like the Finnish version, dont listen to it too.
And if you want to know what the're saying, traslate the lyrics, but If they make a English version, alot of the melody and meaning of the song will be lost. So is not a thing of like it or not, is about the song itself.
@TrankosCL Tracy Chapman, in the USA, sings English but brought out an album with printed translations included in German and French. - So how would it be to have Finnish songs with translations in German, French and English (and Dutch, for me) in a booklet included with the album? (And somebody, please, put some translations on the 'net. I would like to learn this. Really.)
@TrankosCL well, i don´t know from which country you are but many people including me would not have heard of them without the english ones. But I agree, the finish ones are better :-)
I don't know, she sounds so much better in finnish than in english, though there are exceptions...

For people, who don't speak finnish very well the english versions are perfect to understand the message behind the songs.
But I agree, the orignial versions are better. More mystic and there's even more harmony in it than in the translated for the international market.
But no matter how, these songs are great! *_*
