I am curious, they have a tractor setting there, why dont they use it to carry the wire, would be a whole lot easier, use the three point hitch bars, lot easier than carrying a whole roll of wire.
I have that same device. My issue is that I have metal H posts, not wood, so after I've stretched the wire, there is no way to attach it to the metal H post except to wrap it. But in order to wrap it, you have to give the wire slack and you loose all tautness in the wire.

Start on "tie in end" with the barbed wire in a barb wire caddy(easily home made with 1 5/8 pipe. Grab end of barb wire and walk it to the opposite end. This works much easier than 2 people walking a heavy roll of barb wire across a stretch. This can be done by 1 person as well.

You can use a variety of devices that attaches to barbed wire. A close up of this particular device is shown at 2:20.
