What does the letter mean that you sometimes see when the double eagle is in a case. example vf 20 vf 30 xf40 and xf45 and so on. I have 2 $20 gold double eagles
If these codes relate to the condition of the coins how can I find out mine.
And is there anywhere in England that I can find out.
@germans1 well vf is the abbreviation of very fine, and xf is extra fine. very fine is a lower grade than extra fine. and the average price does not differ between those grade so you are looking about in arange from 1550 to 1750 in USD. hope i could help.if you have any other questions feel free to ask.
@frediab A Eagle would have been a $10 gold coin then Half Eagle = $5 and Quarter Eagle = $2.50 and then Gold Dollars = $1. So a Double Eagle would be $20.
Hey i have a double eagle 1880 liberty head thats a type iii Motto Twenty dollars...i want to know a safe place where i can get a apprasail and perhaps where i can sell it? the coin is in good conditions and ideas??
@apenkind5 I could say that the dinosaurs and creatures owned the land before the N. Americans. Technically, niether the N. Americans nor the dinosaurs owned the land. They just lived on it.

You know what's ridiculous? That 9/11 rectangular mint where "the 9 and the 11, for the first time, add up to equal the $20 value." The mint is going insane. lol.
That's not the U.S. mint, that's a private mint who make crappy quality "proofs" and "commemoratives" to make a quick buck off the ignorant public. The Franklin Mint, the National Collectors mint, they're all ridiculous. The U.S. mint doesn't make crap like that, and they're the only entity who's authorized to make legal tender currency, which is worth anything. I've seen collections of "Private mint" coins sell for less than they were bought for in the 70's. Worth the weight of their silver.
Ever since I was a kid in the 1960's, I've always loved the reverse of the Liberty Double Eagle. I remember stopping in the local hobby store once or twice a week to look at the model trains and the U.S. coins, especially the $20.00 Libs.
Gold is not high right now, the fiat dollars used to measure it are just getting weaker, there is actually a lot of evidence that central banks are suppressing the price of gold. If they just backed the M! (people's checkbook money and the physical paper "federal" reserve notes circulating) with the gold they claim to still have a Fort Knox it would be $6,000 per ounce!
I don't have any original $20 double eagles, only a high relief double eagle released this year. Beautiful bullion coin! But not the original real thing.
I have an 1873 "Closed 3" $20 Double Eagle in a solid 14K rope chain pendant and I have a 1907 P $20 Double Eagle in a white slab graded XF/AU. As a numismatist I don't feel anyone should be concerned about what are common dates in the $20 Gold Liberty series type varieties. They're all wise investments. I recently bought a 1923 50 Pesos Mexican Gold Piece set in a solid 14K Greek Key Bezel Pendant & a 1 oz. 1980 Krugerrand set in a solid 14k 3MM Turkish bezel pendant. Gold is Great! Good Show.
yeah i just started collecting over the summer so i dont have the rarest coins out there and im not that much of a big spender on'em so i cant wait for the next vid.....love them though watched all the priors and thought they were great.
i want to start collecting gold coins i collect indian head pennies but nothing drives me to them like to gold coins what kind of gold coins do you reccomend i collect im 15 and dont have a load of money
Great video. Loved the history lesson. That one coin you talked about that has been lost. If that was found in someones attic don't you think that the person would be in trouble. Cause I'm sure that if some one did have it they probably didn't get it legaly. Any way it's great to see ya doing diffrent kinds of videos. But BRING BACK SPACE GHOST! I used to love you wild wacky videos. I don't even know who won the YouTube superhero contest. lol I'm still a die hard fan though.
dude glad you like these they are not my most popular series but I love doing them. I'm trying to doing good production valves and move away from the viral stuff. I think that if you make something good people are going to watch it online too
Hey Mark, subscribed for you video tips, but enjoy your coin collecting vids...I completely agree about production value...I do relic hunting vids...metal detecting videos are a dime a dozen, but I know viewers are critics...whether they know what they're looking for or not, they know what's good and not...if the production is good along with content, your audience will grow...feel free to critique any of my stuff...thanks for your hard work...Greg
I just LOVE your intro's and ends, very amazing with all the effects and everything! If this is done in sony vegas, then I am very impressed! Good work, keep it up!
Once, when I was a kid, I found a 1903 penny in the backyard. I've misplaced it since, but always wondered what is was worth. I collected coins, rocks, stamps, comics, and Micronauts/Dingalings. In my adult life, though, I just collect a lot of debt...
lol I hear on the debt thing but I've pulled myself out of it :) I had a few Indian head pennies when I was a kid too. I still do not know what happened to them..lol
Well, I usually just keep my spare change in a jar by the door, and when it's full I order a pizza.
Except the quarters. Those I save for laundry day.
Lol didn't think I was going to watch the whole thing, but as usual I was surprised when it was over. And after watching your vid about transitions and such, I kept an eye out for that, and enjoyed how polished your style is.
thanks Billy. You may want to go through your change you never know what you might find. I found 3 war nickels the other day. Those have about 35% silver in them. In the quarters look out for the Wisconsin extra leaf on the reverse. Those are a gold of a find and worth alot :)
I'm not into coins Mark... but I'll be damned if I don't come away from every one of your videos with ideas. Sorry if I 'use' (uh... copy) some of your techniques but I think in your world you are kind of out to teach people so maybe you are in favor of this practice, the whole imitation/flattery thing.
