  • I only ride this spot so I won't be much help. You will be coming in the middle of summer so it will be too hot here in the Phoenix area (about 1000 feet). Moab, Utah seems to be the place to go with lots of trails and bike rentals, but at 4000 feet it will still get a bit warm unless they have some weather.

  • WOW! You're great biker... I loved your video. DO you have any more of your exhibitions? cool... I'd love to watch more... and would be happy to share my videos to you too. Take care=)

  • nice video, i'm always impressed, but as a hiker, i'm equally terrified by how fast all the bikers are going on those trails

  • Thank for adding this, my brother and I used to ride this back in '95-96. brought back alot of memories

  • sweet video. Im from Germany an I'm gonna go to New Mexico and Arizona for some Mountainbiking in 4 weeks. Any trials you can suggest to me?

  • I really just do this one trail, but riding here in the low desert now can be brutal. On Sunday I started at sunrise and it was already 88 degrees. Later in the day it was 112. Recommend a web search for trails that are higher up.

  • ya 112 can be brutal but 88 is NICE for riding. Thats the coolest it will get in Phoenix.

  • @rgrams1 have you rode it at night?

  • @slomo8888 when i visited there i rode every tail at south mountain at least twice i rode 90% of red mountain and the disapointing Santan mountain south and red are way fun you have to ride up and then down some techy parts adn lots of fun, i suggest south mountain decent at night at least once i did an epic decent no light with a buddy city on the left coyotes on the right best ride i have done and i ride southern california every other day

  • Nice footage and riding.

  • I just rode this trail on Wed evening and misjudged the time so as I was descending it was quite dark - great to see the trail with some light. Super ride though. The waterfall section looked hairy to me

  • The waterfall has changed a lot over the years and is getting easier. I use to see a little bit of blood at the bottom every couple of months. Me? I just pick my line and then ... walk it down.

  • rgrams1 did a good job with his comment but he left one thing out. bikers get irritated when people have dogs that are either not on a leash or are on a leash but not held back. nobody can help that a dog likes to sniff people but when you are riding your bike, it is not good for the biker or the dog.

  • i run at south mountain all of the time, and see tons of bikers. i have always wanted to know, do the bikers get mad when they have to stop and let a runner go by? let me know...

  • While it is true that some bikers would prefer to have clear sailing all the way, they know they have to share. Others like me enjoy the break, and as a solo biker, I like knowing that within 15 minutes someone will find me if I biff big. So the answer to your question is no, bikers are just happy to be there just like you and have no problem being courteous. You have the right-of-way and that does not upset any of the regulars. Just nod or say thanks.

  • Trails look awesome. Great video.

  • Well done. I used to hike that trail but never rode my bike much up there. Too tough for me, but you make me want to give it another shot. If I don't make it, dessert classic is close by.

  • Nice video. I still gotta try out that trail. What bike(s) were you using?

  • nice vid man, would you mind posting the custom holder, i need one for my rides

  • GOOD MORNING!

  • Hey what camera did you use and how did you set it up to film while ridding?

  • I used a Canon G7, but most modern digital cameras have the video clip mode and do a better job than models several years old. I made a custom holder, sort of like a reverse backpack, with a foam holder for the camera. Then I just activated and road!

  • nice ride,, and nice trail

  • nice vid, national is a fun trail, seen you out there a few times, im either on a black fetish discipline with an R7, or a fetish SS rigid, in the fetish cycles jersey, soon a primus

  • Awesome ride, and great editing! I've been down both of these trails (not near as competently!), and as good as the video looks, it does not show just how steep the first descent really is, nor how rough it is. Still a great video capture of a fantastic ride. Nice touch with the sun bathers!!! -- Alan
