  • 2:10 on....yes

  • he looks kind of like an underfed hugh jackman

  • What's on the guitar neck around fret 12-14?

  • @arendr When I first saw this video, I kept wondering that too. Is it a weird capo?

  • I want to see them sing this song.

    In the year 2081.

  • I see Al Yankovic found a new gig.

  • The modern generation Pink Floyd.

  • Good, but I like the album version better.

  • he reminds me freud, with this beard.

  • this is one of those performances that, when i first saw it on youtube a year ago, made me stop all i was doing and just delve into their sound. it is utterly unique and just...perfect. THIS is one of many reasons why modern music does NOT suck...if anything, i think we're living through a musical renaissance on par with the late 60s and early 90s...new, alternative, unique music that sounds both current and timeless. Yeasayer captures that just right. I keep coming back to watch this...

  • @avedic I saw this when it was on television and my Jaw dropped at the performence and how great Chris was out front.

One of the best Jools performences next to Arcade Fires....

  • @avedic - I couldn't have said it better myself :-)

  • @avedic

I think we do live in a time of musical renaissance, the only difference between the 60's and early 90's is that bands as Yeasayer remain relatively obscure whereas the great bands of those earlier periods could fill up stadiums full of fans.

  • @donkeybrainsify good point. that and, bands like nirvana and the beatles made huge public headway. They were discussed on the news even. Yeasayer won't ever be discussed on the 6:00 news like The Rolling Stones or Smashing Pumpkins used to be. But....so what? :) I say that with all sincerity. Maybe that's a good thing. I think it means that people are starting to tune mainstream media out...thanks largely to the internet. Yeasayer are above all that. Posterity will remember them for sure.

  • @donkeybrainsify btw....I'm tripping right now. Psilly-o-cybin. So...hope anything I'm saying makes an 8 ounce mouse of sense. I love you. PS: bye.

  • wow, that sucked. in order to post that last message I had to fill out one of those captchka things. Took damn near forever. Or in non-psilocybin-induced time....1 minute. Life is wonderful. Just so all you guys know. Seriously. It is. It's such a poignant and beautiful mystery and we get to be a part of it. How amazing...

Do yourself a favor....type the words(or name) Terrance McKenna into the lil' search box up there. You'll thank me later in your life. WHENYOU'REDEAD >___<

  • @avedic it's just too bad the lead singer dances like tom green.

  • @pr0pr0 tom...green? did you just step out of a time capsule dated 1998? i'd say he's just spastic. i like people who dance like that. check out the band friendly fires for more awesome tribal insane dancing

  • @Chadisthecoolest who cares? does the sexuality define the music? they are sick, i know you like it! :D

  • It's freakishly funny to watch this video and compare them when performing Ambling Alp on the same show. What a fucking difference. Haha, from looking like awesome hoboes/hippies/whatever to classy popsters.

I absolutely love this band and wonder what their next album will be like. Metal? :)

  • This one of my favorite live performances on youtube. The lead singer has so much fucking passion!

  • Brutal!!! Do not miss the Take Away Show

  • i love this

  • u can see the crowd laughing but i really like his odd spastic moments, he really feels lit

  • yyeaaaahhh!!!!! :]

  • 15 people missed the "like" button... damn

  • that bassline is soooo good, it gets stuck in my head more than any of the vocal melodies.

  • Lol. Crazy Crazy man. Gotta luv u some Yeasayer!!!

  • They're badass cant wait to see them

  • Theyre sweet for sure cant wait to see them in september

  • Is the bassist trying to go for a Ron Jeremy look?

  • @ChronoRobo hahahaha good call

  • I honestly don't get the Byrne comparison. Visually, based on this perfomance and "Sunrise", I'll give you that. But after listening to some Byrne... not so much. Also, His vocals are tight and the harmonies are always amazing. This band, and Keating is very talented. Check "Ambling Alp" and "One" performances on Jools. Just Stellar!

  • @shroom008

Woah woah brah, don't be dissin Byrne.

I mean, Keating/Byrne comparisons are purely on the showmanship. Spastic and lovable was always a Byrne thing.

But with some vague knowledge of both bands, you could see the comparisons between Yeasayer (especially All Hour Cymbals) and Talking Heads. Wacky and world beat influences.

Personally, I like listening to either because it reminds me to listen to the other one.

  • Keating looks like Roger Whittaker, does a poor impersonation of David Byrne and is not as good as he thinks he is in the vocal department. Music and chorus is good though.

  • So much better than anything on Odd Blood.

  • much better live

  • lol i love when ppl act they have cerevral palsy while playing music.

  • He has such an amazing voice. seriously.

  • epic

  • Oh the power of a few ( or a lot) of small little mushrooms!

    :) GREAT song though!

  • Their Singer Is In His Own Little World

  • @helicopterinthesky His own little David Byrne world :¬)

  • this song was made with the heart, the soul and the deeper humain conscience...for sur

  • this song was made with the heart, the soul and the deeper humain conscience...for sur (sorry for my english !)

  • there singers tripping nutsack

  • because they all sing their to diverse to sound like another band

  • It's impossible to not sound like someone else without making shit that doesn't sound like music anymore. Get over it.

  • He's filled with the spirit of his beard.

  • @MrEvanDK

    Hallelujah!

This beard is giving me the vapors!

  • A big middle-finger to all of you dissing this band. Original? No. Talking Heads sound? Definitely. They're far from being my favourite band, but their two albums stand on their own two feet. This is a great song, brilliantly performed, albeit the singer's performance seems very false. No doubt he's into it, but he tries too hard in this to be a bit "mental" and indifferently cool on their performance of Ambling Alp last week. Some people have never heard to Talking Heads either.

  • @woodros Good music is good music. Who gives a fuck if it sounds like someone else.

  • @ZwienerZ and that is precisely whats wrong with people today, you don't give a shit if people rip off others because its just disposable shite.....good music, fucking hellfire

  • @woodros Look, I'm not even saying I like this band. This is the first song I listened to. I saw their name because they are playing at ACL this year. But seriously, what's wrong if people like this? They're obviously pretty popular. Plus MANY BANDS nowadays sound like someone else.
