I love the sound of the old Iced Earth stuff. Gotta love the classic metal guitar tones, and the pure rawness of the tunes.
Everyone talks about the singers who have left Iced Earth, but people rarely discuss the old lead guitarist Randall Shawver. He was a big part of Iced Earth's sound IMO, I miss his contributions tremendously!
It would be cool if Gene got back into metal. He had a very classic style, and honestly if he continued with the purgatory style, it would be a cd worth buying in my book.
John Greely has also made a band. It was named Seventh Seal but there was a recent change to Seventh Servant.
So far there is a rough mix of one song on the myspace. Revelation. more to come.
i disagree. the re-recorded songs don't have the nostalgia of the originals and i like both greely and adams better than barlow in iced earth. probably hard for one to understand had they not grown up listening to the originals but that's how it is for me.
YesI do have the original footage from this show and a few others that I plan on posting as soon as I can borrow a VCR to dump them to the computer. I have another project I need to finish first so it will be a couple weeks before I get to it, but it will be up before summer time! (by the way the audio on this video is from the Album and I had a hell of a time syncing up the live footage as they play about 3x faster live!!!)
Yes all the live footage is from me, I used to run lights for the shows and I would tape at the same time. I think the original VHS copies will be better quality, as this video was made from 3/4" tapes that were old before I dumped the video on them from VHS for editing. (it was a school thing). so hopefully when I get them out and hook the VCR back up they will look a little better.
Just to let you guys know I have known these guys since the Early 80's and still keep in touch with most of the original band (Dave, Bill, Gene, Greg) as they still live here in FL. but John is in Indiana these days and doesn't return messages. but the point I was getting to was I have RARE Footage from the old days and I will be posting it ASAP.
oh, yeah! they were big in the Tampa Area before they got big around the world. I only have a couple of Iced Earth tapes from the 80's but I also have a couple Purgatory60 tapes from that time. I will be posting as much as I can in the near future, it just takes forever to get it into the computer and edited so it can go up on youtube. so please keep checking back!
I took all the footage of the live shows back in the day (early 80's) that's why the live footage is kinda bad, the tapes had been played alot by the time I made the video.
those bells sound so awesome.

I prefer Greely's style over Barlow and Adam but this is still really brutal.
From all that I can see, Jon is a bit of an ass, I still respect the guy, I just don't like the way he uses musicians.
