For example, in 1990 Nigel Mansell and Alan Prost were teammates at Ferrari, Nigel was 20 Kilos heavier than Alain (around 45 pounds), which meant that on a typical 1 minute 20 second lap, Nigel Mansell would have to drive his car half a second a lap faster just to keep up with Alain.

@Twin540i Incorrect. Ballast is used to make up any weight difference. Car has to meet at least meet minimum weight.
