I went through the same procedure as Rep Speier for the same reasons. It's a heart wrenching, wretched procedure that I wouldn't wish on anyone but everyone should have that option. The provision provides coverage for contraceptives, pelvic exams, breast exams, safer-sex counseling, and basic infertility counseling, among other provisions. NOT abortions.

Planned Parenthood is a private health provider who gives reproduction info/care for the lower/middle class. HHS provides funding for certain procedures so that they are affordable. HHS has no say in day-to-day operations. Removing funds only prices out the poor and most vulnerable.
And what is their plan to deal with the fallout? Our orphanages are quite full...and I'm sure those will be defunded next.

I went through the same procedure as Rep Speier for the same reasons. It's a heart wrenching, wretched procedure that I wouldn't wish on anyone but everyone should have that option. @jawayetti I don't know the context in which you wrote that comment but this is the case vis a vis Planned Parenthood:: the Title X family planning program is the only source of federal funds dedicated solely to family planning and reproductive health. The provision provides coverage for contraceptives, pelvic exams, breast exams, safer-sex counseling, and basic infertility counseling, among other provisions. NOT abortions.

@hob976 Correct, it does not prohibit state funding...and some states do on a limited basis. Planned Parenthood is a private health provider who gives reproduction info/care for the lower/middle class. HHS provides funding for certain procedures so that they are affordable. HHS has no say in day-to-day operations. Removing funds only prices out the poor and most vulnerable.
And what is their plan to deal with the fallout? Our orphanages are quite full...and I'm sure those will be defunded next.
