Nice circuit. Seemed like nice smooth landings. Better than me at the moment. I did my first solo in CGT last month. It's up on Youtube too. I'm a bit curious about your downwind checks too. Mine are Brakes, Undercarriage, Mixture, Master, Mags, Fuel pump and landing light on, Oil temps and pressures in the green, Autopilot off, Hatches and Harnesses secure. Then power back, carby heat on and 2 stages of flap as I turn to base. BTW, CGT is working fine.
RVAC is a fantastic school to learn at, and has a lot of aircraft to get endorsed on. Moorabbin is a great airport to fly at too, with the dual runway setup there is always heaps going on and it really helps you to develop your flying and communications skills very quickly.
I did some flying out of Royal Vic myself. Curious as to why you made mention of mixture fully rich? I did all my circuits fully rich. And fuel primer locked on downwind? I do mine as part of my run ups and that's it. Never been one of my downwind checks. Anyhoo - loved the vid. A long time since I did circuits on 17L. Sweet memories - and LOVED Sparrow in the tower. What a great guy :))
Did you forget the fuel pump on downwind or does your school teach it differently? We normally have it on for base and final in case of a go-around. It's an easy one to miss in the chaos of the moorabbin circuit.
Great video. I've just started learning to fly at YMMB with GFS. I havent started circuit training yet, but it looks like you're pretty busy. Wasn't VH-CGT the other aircraft involved in the mid-air a few months ago?
Cheers mate. I fly at Royal Vic aero club, and have been there since 2006. This video was taken early this year, before it was involved in the mid-air. Good work starting your flying training, you will absolutely love being a pilot! It can get quite busy during takeoff and landing, but you will soon get used to it.
