How do you teach a Maltese tricks? I have one it's a girl her names princess but all she does is sleep when I teach her tricks she doesn't listen even if we give her treats so how do you do it can u make a video teaching us how to train a dog please reply
From what I can remember, we have to literally force her. :-) I think we started out with teaching her the word "no". When she hears that word, she knows she's done something wrong or isn't suppose to do something. We used to leave a dog treat in front of her and when she went for it, we said "no" and pushed her face away. Lily learned pretty fast.
Everyone trains their dog differently and this was the first dog I've trained. You can also let your dog smell the treats, but don't give it to her. Say "sit" and if she doesn't, push her behing down to a sitting position, then praise her (by saying "good girl") and then give her the treat. I'm sure your dog will learn after a few times. They're pretty smart. You can use this technique for the other tricks. Handshaking is probably the easiest one. Let me know if it works. :-)
